Owning a Italian Greyhound the Pros & Cons

  • Hey guys a pros and cons of a Italian greyhound puppy as promised. This is actually a couple of months ago 🤦‍♀️ we have been super busy and I’ve only just got round to editing it. I promise to do another update soon to. Thanks for watching 🐾

    My first Iggy, adopted, was the best ever! My soulmate. He was my shadow and so quiet. When he passed I got a call that another boy was available and I jumped at the opportunity. This guy is totally opposite. He’s a tool. He is just like speedy Gonzalis. He talks back and is just obnoxious. He’s not a super cuddly guy. Even now that he’s 10 he still keeps me on my toes. My other boy, adopted, is calm. He loves to cuddle and is always at my side. However, both my boys bark. Apparently they have a lot to tell people. I love them so much. Yes, you do have to be a special kind of person to enjoy an Iggy. They are not for everyone.

    Both iggy females I’ve had are super energetic and definitely stubborn as puppies but seems like as they age they start to want to please you more ❤

    Love this breed. They are the most amazing and as she said not for everyone. They are unique in every way. I own five

    Definitely agree with tooth brushing.
    My Whippet and her sisters are used to getting their teeth brushed nightly since puppies, and at 2 yrs currently, their teeth are lovely.
    Brushing is sooo important every two days minimum to get rid of the biofilm before it develops into the plaque.

    Tiggy is absolutely adorable! We have IG too. Lola is 16 months now. We never had any doggy before, so I can't compare. But even without comparing, I can say they are really special; however, not for everyone. I do agree with the majority of what you have mentioned. Lola was also really easy to house-train. She is a velcro dog, extremely cuddly, and barks very rarely. What I would add up is that they are hypoallergenic. Judging by my one, they don't stink & drool at all. I find them very clean. Furthermore, they can be fussy & picky eaters but, simultaneously, highly food motivated. She loves to eat - regular food and treats. However, she would rather starve if she is not keen on something. She even growls at the food if it is something she doesn't like or is fed up with. Lola loves to sleep in bed with us. And also... they are thieves :) Besides the fact that they steal your heart forever :) Lola keeps stealing things from around the house, whatever it is :) Socks or underwear are, let's say, understandable. But also random stuff like used napkins, bills or letters, x-mas decorations, pens, toilet rolls... Whatever is available. And this would happen in a blink of an eye :)

    Seriously considering getting this breed after owning spaniels all my life . They seem a good fit for my family

    My ol'lady brought one of these home, all I can say is think God we live on the great plains because she sure loves to run.

    I love you dog. We had a Galgo. Galgo's and greyhounds are quite similar. Unfortunately we had to put her to sleep three months ago. She was very old and wouldn't eat anymore.

    Finding a local breeder is so difficult. We live in a cold climate too, so I’m conflicted if that would be the best environment too.

      So hard to find a good breeder it took us years.

      I have two Iggies. Both of my Iggies are adopted. Please check your area for rescue if your interested. I live in Canada and it gets to -40C in the winter. You need coats and boots just to let them go outside to do their business during the really cold weather.

      We have a greyhound that we rescued. She was a racer. Excellent dog, very toddler like, doesn’t bark, just a little high pitch hum. She loves walks and people, just sniggles and hates being alone. She loves to be in the crowd of ppl. Loves getting petted.
      She knows many words. Potty trained. Sleeps 9 hours lightly.

    You’re iggy is so beautiful, I am planning to got get my first iggy in a few years time but trying to get as much research as I can, I live with my family but work full time. There is someone always in my home at all times. Do you think it’s a good idea to get one of these breeds I’m obsessed with these dogs😊😊😊

    Doesn't bark and sleeps all day. Guessing perfect for me who works from home.

      I have not found my Iggy any harder to potty train than any of my other dogs. She was fully toilet trained in a few wks. Never had a accident indoors since.
      The key to potty training is being consistent. A few wks of hard work pays off ☺️

      My Italian greyhound boy was toilet trained very well, like he'd wake up in the middle of the night and go all the way downstairs just to pee, but this was until puberty came. Now he marks everywhere in the house😵 On the other hand, my iggy girl never fails to pee on the pad (they do all their businesses indoors). I'm currently working on my iggy boy's marking problems, hope he'll get back to his old habits🐕💕

      My Iggy is nearly a year old and I am finding it hard to potty train this breed of dog , but shes gorgeous ♥️

    5 min in the video and u keep talking about your self and not the dog . are u shore this video is about the god and about you ? after watching your video i know more about you then the dog
