He looks very much like our beloved Foxtrot (Fiefoernieks- blue color) . He died in our arms when he was 15 .... he was an adorable clever affectionate little devil.... and a gourmet.... His sister Violette ( nearly 19 - Domaine de Chanteloup- Isabelle color) just crossed the rainbow bridge and we are heartbroken. They were globe-trottesr and travelled a lot in Europe and the US ( car , bicycle, plane , boats.....) and they were always part of our life adventures ... moving houses, crossing oceans, changing countries, .... Full of love we all were ! such a special; and extraordinary breed .....

It's been a long time - I haven't been on social media as much the past few months! Nello is as adorable as ever and I'm still hoping to get another iggy pup in the spring - hopefully around my birthday at the end of April🙏 I will definitely have to watch all your videos again when the time comes since you have shared some really helpful information that I wished I had known when we brought Vaughan home more than sixteen years ago...
A social media break is often a good idea but it‘s lovely you are back! Fingers crossed it will work out soon 🤞🏼

I have two retired greyhounds who are much larger of course, but they're lovely dogs.
I didn't know about the neutering laws in Germany. Here in the UK I would say most are neutered. I had one greyhound who wasn't neutered due to his age and other dogs would try and attack him for just walking down the street. I think their lack of hormones vs his hormones sent them mad.

I love hearing from someone with first hand experience and passion. Your videos are a great resource. I hope to get an IG when I am financially stable and able to do so ethically. I've been listening to people talk about these dogs for months and months 😩
Also it's very refreshing to hear a sane take on neutering. Not without a medical benefit seems like a well reasoned standard even if some choose to circumvent it. I have never understood why it seems like the default position here in the UK though that probably changes within the UK by region/urbanisation

Thank you so much for all the suggestions for keeping a happy Italian Greyhound, I hope you will do another Q&A again in the future. A question I would ask for that Q&A would be regarding getting an Italian Greyhound socialized with other dogs & also cats as I have two and it would become important to socialize the cats with any Italian Greyhound or really any new dog. I’ve done quite a bit research into this but I would really appreciate your opinion 😇👍👍

Italian Greyhounds have the longest life span of any Toy breed. Averaging 16 yrs but they can to 20 yrs old. I know of one who lived to be 21 yrs old in Waikiki Hawaii, and met Tom Selleck of Magnum PI., several times
I have two IGs. I’m absolutely crazy in love with them. My husband is too and our German Shepherd Lucy loves them too

What a wonderful little IG Nello is. I have a Whiggy, IG X Whippet, boy who is just soooo lazy. Sighthounds are the best.

That's typical! Most IGs are lazy dogs....people assume they are hyperactive because they are thin and wirey looking.

Sorry but I discover This video a little late but I adooore Nello and Our Ludo (Creamy Iggy) is 2 years old and He seems to really Care when People or Us are Proud of Him or saying : Bravo Ludo or He is so cute and so much Happy when people in the street say "Oh Il est super Joyeux et si Petit !!!! Si Mignon !!! Oh He is so Happy not Shy like other! So cute! And so Little Cute Thing!!!! He seems to be Proud and Happy!!! We love Your Videos and learned some new Things about Iggies!!!!! Beautiful videos too!!!! 🥰🐶💖

As you say crazy and barking i think about honey the iggy. Love both of you guys. Amazing video!!! Ps: my rescued greyhounds are both sterilized, the boy at 8 months before arriving here and the girl after her 2nd period. We didn't even see a change on their attitude, but as they are rescued you have to sing a contract to sterilize em , so there's no irresponsible breeding who can lead to a hound into the clandestine races. At least for Argentina.
Thank you! Yes as I mentioned in the video, it really depends on the circumstances you live in and in this case it definitely makes sense 😊 That’s what they usually do with rescue dogs here too!

May I ask you a question? We have been thinking about getting an italian greyhound for long time but we are not decided yet ,the main thing that holds me back is the smell ,do italian greyhounds smell like other dogs? I mean that weird dog smell that most dogs have? I wouldnt mind a little bit of smell when you get too close but I cant stand strong smells specially the dog one
No they don't smell like other dogs. They are hypoallergenic and they have different skin and hair quality compared to regular dogs. They smell much cleaner and are easy to bathe. I use regular shampoo too, with no problems.
Hi! Would you recommend a male Italian greyhound over a female?
Males can be more affectionate than females. Females can be more independent. Females are easier to potty training.

Are you aware of any "hypertype" issues in the IG race (not sure it the correct word in English).
They are only "hyper" when they are puppies. They really slow down after 24 months old.

Neutering is very dengerous . Hormon disbalans, with sterilization shortens a dog's lifespan. (malignant tumors, obesity, diabetes, hypothyroidism).
