Thank you for putting this out. I bought Eau d’Hermes based off our tastes being nearly identical and boy do I love it! Phew! Definitely get the right dirtiness mostly up front when it hits you the face. Then it settles some but is always present. It’s a love for me. I have copper top version, so can’t speak to how it compares. Couldn’t pull the trigger on your version - $500 was just too much. But happy with the version I have. All the best to you! You’re killing it with the videos 👍 I couldn’t get into vintage Equipage. I had both first and 2nd formulations of Bel Ami but sold them off as I prefer Pure Distance M. I still have vintage Rocabar EDT spray / no blanket or box but it was a blind buy and nice enough to keep around. I already told you what I think of Eau De Hermes Cooper top. Eau d’ Orange Verte is nice. I never really liked Terre D’Hermes despite it being very successful for them. When I was in my gourmand phase I did enjoy Ambre Narguile but I don’t really enjoy sweet fragrances anymore. I still haven’t tried H24 nor do I want to as at my stage in this hobby I’m really into classic men’s 70-90’s fragrances.
For the ladies out there my picks are 24 Faubourg EDP, Twilly and Eau des Merveilles.

Great video! I have that same vintage Equipage bottle- I love the smell, but I hate how thick and heavy it wears, i find it almost suffocating. The newer version, as well as Equipage Geranium, wear much better imo. They wear more like spicy aromatics, rather than the vintage which wears like a oriental. If you like what Elana did with Bel Ami Vetiver, you’ll equally love what he did with E.G. A safe blind buy at $70, imo.

M7 somehow got known for being the first designer to have oud and that's definitely not true. Comme des Garcons Sequoia beat it by a year and there were others. Maybe because of the size of the house it was released under and how widely distributed/easy to get it was 🤷‍♂️ I don't know.

I just went to Hermes here in Athens Greece because of this video just to try the present formulations of the 2 Bel Amis, and was both such a disappointment!
I liked the scent profile of the original more although has no staying power and projection, but the vetiver was the worst so boring and very light i couldn't find any relation to the original scent.
Thank god after this i went to Chanel and try from Les Exclusifs Sycomore and it was just WOW, i felt like the time froze around me, i really need a bottle of this in my life! This is an old video, but I wanted to correct you. Your Eau d'Hermes is not a pewter cap era bottle, it's a copper cap formulation. Go to a Raiders of The Lost Scent article on dating fragrances, and you'll see that ingredient lists started in the late 1990's. If your bottle has an ingredient list, which it does, it cannot be older than the late 1990's. The pewter cap version is earlier than the late 1990's, therefore your bottle is not a pewter cap, but a copper cap formula.

I also have vintage Antaeus and with that one I know I’m getting an easy 12 hours plus and I want Bel Ami to do the same. I get a good 8 to 9 hours out of it but not that eternal longevity. In the dry down there’s is some nice subtle cumin leather-ish funk but it’s nowhere near the umph in Rojas PDLN 3 of which I have the 7,5ml. It’s almost like the EdH doesn’t have a base.
