On my skin, this is a projection monster for about 4-5 hours on my skin. If I moisturize my skin with shea butter, I get a solid 8 hours of noticeable projection. After that, it pretty much dwindles down into a skin scent. But I love the notes. It's a comfort fragrance, for me.
Hello sir! I experienced performance issue at first. However, the longer I own this the more I can seem to detect it and it is even beast mode on me. I remember first time wearing this, it's gone within 30min. Now, with 4 sprays, I can smell this well over 5 hours then it settles to skin scent. I think it may have to do with the juice reacting with oxygen as well as the fact that our nose may get better at picking it up? Thank you for your review sir!
Nice review as always Pep. I recently tested this and as you found I thought the opening was really great. I seemed to get slightly better performance however as even though it did dry down to predominantly a skin scent relatively quickly, it did stick around for a very long time on my skin. The other thing I noticed was I got one of those instant ‘olfactory memories’ from it which I knew was from my past somewhere but couldn’t put my finger on exactly. Interesting the comparison with Malle’s Noir Epice which I have recently added to my collection and absolutely love! 👌🔥
Very appealing at the opening. Well, I speak on account of an after shave version I keep, yet I wore the edt by early 2000s, and recalled it fading to a lovely skin scent, as well. Like a departure from the trademark leather-laden Hermès releases of yesteryear -onto the iconic citruses of the Un Jardin collections and Voyage, right in between. Thank you Pep, spot-on reviews as ever! Greetings from Ecuador. - Ricardo
@@TheScentinel ... hey, thanks to you 👍. Everything you show comes through, very natural and described in a second-nature fashion. I very much enjoy your work, even if I haven't posted a comment, still watching and liking... cheers!
Totally agree with the performance... I have a vintage first formula sample though, this is a skin scent right from the beginning. Longevity is ok but the sillage and projection is really low.
I managed to get a 5ml decant of this and sadly it did not work on my skin very well, I had he exact same experience as you with this one. Perhaps if you go for jog or long walk your body heat may bring out the fragrance again, I find this has been the case with other soft skin scents. Hopefully, you can get a decant of Bel Ami Vetiver and give this one a go and compare it with Bel Ami.
Wow, didn't know that the Parfumo owner percentages were that skewed. Always been a fan of the scent thanks to that juniper, cypress and benzoin combo, but I do wonder if the vintage was stronger. IMO these are the type of fragrances clone houses should be targeting to improve their longevity.
I own a "middle" formulation, not the original bottle but a plain square one, before they transferred everything to Caleche type bottles. I have no qualms about longevity but I noticed a brutal reduction of the volume around 3-4 hours after application. Lasts about 8 hours on my skin. The dry down is fairly musky and due to its resinous and light nature, it could be nose fatigue at play
@@TheScentinel 5 hrs already passed, smells amazing from the paper strip, from arm lenght! I am looking forward to check it our on my skin. This is even better smelling then EG. Thanks
I LOVED your impression, btw. Im very interested in trying it. I bought one ambient fragrance which Id love to find out its inspiration (Aromagia Queen's England). Ive been told by its perfumer it is Hermes inspired.
I bought both the current versions of this and bel ami. It’s so sad that I’d apply before I’d leave for work. 45 minutes later, I’d arrive at work unable to smell anything 😫. I’ve always wanted to try equipage and eau d’hermes too. Because of the tragic performance of both of these I think I will hold fire on these purchases. Great review as always.
Your review is absolutly corect, the opening of rocabar is to die for and the rest is silence... I have the last reformulation botle and after one hour max become a skin scent.
@@TheScentinel Hey Pep, yes, I have it in my collection. And you are right, there is that dryness in it, almost crackling. Perfect, will revisit it again. Thanks for having thought of it! :)
@@TheScentinel I'm lucky with Hermes fragrances, they perform excellently on my skin. And I got the never formulations and not the vintage. the Un Jardin fragrances also perform well

This sounds great to me. I been wanting to try it. My SOTN is Loewe Esencia, have you tried it?
No, i am really keen to try Loewe.
Very nice review, Pep ! Like always, a joy to listen about Hermes creations on your channel. Take care !

The latest reformulated version has less depth & with poor longievity! The Original version was rich & enchanting! Honest review cheerio

Excellent review
yea, Rocabar is tricky .. simply Hermes ... these bottles and matured scents of Rocabar, Equipage Geranium, BelAmi Vetiver are my fave !

I wonder if the newer bottles might be weaker
Loved it on paper. I will try on my skin. How are projection and sillage if you compare with Equipage Geranium; which I own?
Compared to EG, it's weaker

Hello, dear friend. Can you sense black currant, passion fruit on the opening? Or is or more like grapefruit?
My nose is not advanced enough to specify those particular notes.

If i can get my hands on a sample

Interesting. I'm still on the lookout for a scent that smells like dry, dry wood that has been baking in the sun for days. Any suggestions?
Let me have a think
Hey Tina, have you tried Comme des Garcons Kyoto? I dont know if it is baking in the sun dry, but i get this vibe here.
