    The first thing Patrick Glenn Nichols would say is the hood pin cables are in the wrong location and then he would tell us if this car is the real deal or just a Malibu ...:)

      He would also tell us if the corners of the stripes were correct based on assembly plant. Also if the inner fender wells were correct.

    I bought a 70 SS454 LS6 after coming home from Vietnam in my favorite color fathom blue with white skunk stripes and ivory white interior, rock crusher 4 speed, 12 bolt posi with 4:11's and I had dealership install the LS7 open chambered heads on it 1 year later in 71. The heads were open chamber rectangular port cylinder heads with 2.19 intake and 1.88 exhaust valves.
    Car for its day was unbeatable. Had alot of wheel hop so installed ladder bars.
    Today, GM Performance offers numerous crate engine applications, up to 572 inches in big block form at over 700 horses to make this look slow in comparison.
    If I could find another one in showroom condition in that color combo with all the right options, I would buy today!

    The 1970 Corvette and Camaro were both also slated to have the LS7 454. How I wish that it would have actually existed! The Camaro was also to have the LS6 version.
    I also liked the original LT-1 350 V-8 used in both the Corvette (370 hp) and Camaro Z-28 (360 hp).

    I do not care about these videos , I worked in the parts department at Woodard Chevrolet in 1970, I ordered a 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS7, convertible , aluminum heads 460 hp, 1 4bbl, 4 speed positive traction, so many other options, Root beer paint, black interior,white stripes, I still have it in storage since 1980. I also have the original build sheet. looks like crap, so what. never get rid of it.

    Probably because it was purchased in New England...🇺🇸👍

    I had an LS-6 triple black 1983-1985 until it was stolen n found totally stripped & in flames , The car had these special hood locks where the hood pins would be . So they cut into the firewall n took the whole front clip off . Firewall ,roof , frame n quarters were left . CRV engine code with the M-22 Rockcrusher trans . Engine had an off road L/88 cam in it . Broke my heart because I knew I had something special . This bad boy had 331 gears in the back that were changed for gas milage from previous owner can you believe that . Well at 40 mph i was really doing 55 . Went 120 on the speedometer one time with 2 passeangers on ply tires L60's on the back . Yes that adds up to 165 . It had more in it but that was dangerous on those tires .LS-6 in 1970 Were colsed chambered heads 11.25 to 1 compresson the rare LS-6corvette in 1971 was open chambered an alumninum n i believe the Compression was 10 to 1 . LS-7 is an open chambered head n the 1970 over the counter buy with 12.5 to one compression like the L/88 . You need high octane to drive it

    Isn't the LS7 a 1970 crate motor?? Or could you get it from the factory in a Corvette???

    • @MBailey1977
      @MBailey1977 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was supposed to be a Corvette option but it never happened. Vette only got the LS5. 71 Corvette had a LS6 option rated at 425 HP but only 188 were made.

    • @thud9797
      @thud9797 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There were two different LS7 engines so it gets a little confusing. For 1970 the plan was to take the Chevelle LS6 and install a little hotter cam with more exhaust lift (550 instead of 520) and stick the L88 074 aluminum heads on it and drop it in the Corvette. Except for these two changes the engine would be virtually identical to the 1970 Chevelle LS6. That plan obviously never happened so the second iteration of the LS7 came in 1973 when they began selling it as a crate engine. Now this LS7 was completely different than what was planned for Corvette and had iron heads, 12.5 compression, the ZL1 cam believe it was 560/600 lifts so it was a wild and crazy engine and probably barely streetable.
      So that's it, only one test LS7 Corvette was ever built and none were sold to the public and the unique camshaft that it was to use was never available either. It's too bad, the only year in Corvette history where the it didn't get the top hp engine.

    Good hearing how honest you are trying to be about this. Sorry though, no one leaves aftermarket gauge on a 100k Chevelle. What is it a oil / vacuum? Never seen the dash as shown where it is with de-fog until 71. Beautiful car though.

    LS7 Code XCH engines were over-the-counter purchases intended for Corvettes and racing. NEVER dealer installed or from the factory installed for showroom customer purchase. Insurance liabilities prevented it. Having said that. It never stopped a mechanic from buying the LS7 454 big-block and putting it in anything. At a 12.250:1 compression ratio. The engine required 100 octane fuel or better. A "Not For Marine Use" tag was also tied to the engine. Mechanical lifters and constant hot lash adjustments were always needed. Unless you drive to and from the local airport for leaded 100 octane fuel or better, you don't own one of these. They do not exist and were certainly not dealer-installed. I know more about this topic than this "salesman".
