- 2-stoke dirt racing usually takes a certain state of mind.
When that state of mind is made up by four riders with a collective sense of fun, rivalry and lack of seriousness, the racing can only get better.
This is the story of the Jerkyls and their classic '79 Yamaha YZ250s and '73 Bultaco Pursangs.

This is the best way to handle the mid-life crisis...sideways on a dirt track. Forget the job and the mortgage and the family and the money issues just long enough to do something on the edge. You guys have nailed it.
Bultaco Rules! Sure miss my 250 Pursang flat tracker. What a great handling screamer. The 70's were great!
The 'good old days' today! Keep these great stories coming, they are really inspiring and capture the spirit of motorcycling.
An old Bultaco! Now that takes me back. Well done guys. Great bit of fun.
brotherhood on a dirt track .. just brilliant !!
Ahh YZ's. I remember filing 1mm off the top of the inlet port of the piston. Fiddling with reed valves. Changing plug temps. Then there's the two stroke fuel smell !!
You took me back almost thirty years. Thanks guys ++
You can take much more than 1mm but its still an improvement
Great to see flat track back !
I grew up racing it back in the late sixties here in California , now there are almost no tracks around .
Bultacos are the best handling bike ever made !
The movie is great and perfectly done! But I really missed more 2-stroke engine sounds!
first saw this series 4 years ago, during a bike drought. sorely needed inspiration. just re-watched. great episode, one of my fave's. you gotta love those old school dirt bikes.
thank you , thank you, thank you, this brought back so many happen memories. In the late sixty's early seventy's, me and two buddies that worked together did this just about every week-end !
Old boys having fun. Good stuff
i've watched this four times and still need more...
Love these guys. So great.
Had to wait all day to watch this ep! Worth the wait. Love the sense of community in this episode, bloody brilliant as always!
Look amazingly fun. I'm a speedway fan and seeing you ride like that, having fun and chillout atmosphere puts a smile on my face. Keep it up!.
love love flat track
As you said .....who gives a monkeys if you win or lose, as long as you enjoy your self .
Keep riding , keep enjoying yourselves,
Loving this channel so far! It's like Petrolicious with bikes!
keep the vids coming. fun to watch.
World class videos. Great work here from the SoB team.
Finally a new episode! :-)
Again guys, amazing...Best regards from portugal!
It's just about having fun, these guys are just having fun with their mates
loved that lads, keep it up. twist and go fun
The Husqvarna 250 was really fast too, and had excellent handling. I rode straight dirt back in the 70's, and no one's bike I rode with could ever keep up with it. The Maico is another bike that would be great for 2 stroke dirt tracks.
Well, I can see you guys are having fun and that is what its all about. I'd suggest a steel shoe and different tires though.
Those Bul's beat my Yamaha fairly regularly!🙃
Another great vid! Makes me want to give that crazy sport a go!
Ok - Vintage 2-stroke flat tracker - proper- Reduce steering rake 3-5°, Lower engine 2 inches (extend the down tubes), Use 19" wheels front & rear (front wheels from a late 70s Yamaha etc.), flat track tires (Maxxis, Goodyear), enjoy.
Great video and the music was fantastic!
This is basically a bunch of mates dicking about with bikes ….and more power to them 😂 It seems any form of racing that involves racing something with an engine brings this out in us blokes lol…only thing is, when folks start winning regularly it becomes serious …but as long the banter is still there and everyone’s having a laugh, that’s all that really matters. Brilliant vid 👏👏👏👍😎
nice one guys... the music was spot on
Great video, guys, good muckers too!
great video - seems like a great group of guys!
Nice one guys, Good fun.
It was 365 days ago today that I released Episode 9: Backup. Since then, the Jerkyls have grown and travelled the world.
I'll be posting an update on The Jerkyls later this week, in the meantime, get yourself reacquainted.
I have watched this couple times, great every time. More videos please, lovin them
Best story to date.
Nice, really enjoyed.
Awesome story!
I love track days but will never go without at least one of my mates. Typically it's at least three, but sometimes it will be six of us plus our families.
Such a cool video!
Great Video.
Awesome gotta get me a old bike for a ol fella 👍😎
Immediately after watching this I was checking for local tracks :D
Me gusta!!!
Wish there was more vintage type flat track and TT racing here in the states. That all sort of died out here even for modern bikes. Oh I know there are tracks/races running here and there but i would have to drive long and far every weekend to find them and we all know what it costs to travel these days. Back in the seventies there where flat track races every weekend some where in the northeast area where I live all withing 3 hours drive. Actually one of the tracks I use to race at every Saturday night still has the track, still has the races, and even though has motorcycle classes listed to run every week none show up so only mini sprint cars and go-carts race there now.
wally walton there's a bunch of vintage racing here
Brilliant fun!
Stories of Bike, you guys should definitely get your music up for sale.
Beautiful bikes
Nice video
Fun!
So much fun....
I wonder if there's a flat tracker scene out here in Cali. Looks like loads of fun.
I have Pursangs but want a Astro
Music? I love this stories
Coming soon to Dubai, the Beast.
Love your channel but your audio mixer needs to turn down the music, its drowning out the vocals and making it hard to hear what they're saying.
Yep, agreed. Particularly with this video. The vocals aren't too clear on this one due to some recording issues (big aircon running in the background) which resulted in heavy dialogue audio filtering and loss of frequency range. I just did a re-edit of this episode for a festival showing, which fixed the audio.
I'll be making it available for download shortly.
Stories of Bike Must have worked. I didn't find anything objectionable. In fact I LOVED the soundtrack to this one! Does the artist have more similar work available?
Bultaco should make some new Astros
What is the 2nd bike from camera @5:55 looks like sv650 ?

can someone tell me who is the artist of the music? or style ?
Maxence, we write our own original music for each episode. You can listen to the track here soundcloud.com/storiesofbike/ep9backupsoundtrack
Stories of Bike Seriously ? awesome !
Where is this based? I want to join in the fun. Anything like this happening in Brisbane??
Based in west of Sydney, Nepean Raceway. If you're in Brisbane, check out the North Brisbane Junior Motorcycle Club based at Northgate.
Stories of Bike Cheers! Will do. : )
I hear this a lot online and I would like to know why do people (like in this video) call a trail bike a trials bike, can people not read or what?
If you're having fun racing, you're doing it wrong. Racing is an addiction, and we all know addictions aren't fun. If you're not neglecting your family, the kids doing without shoes so you can buy new tires, you're doing it wrong. I'm working on a ten step recovery program for racers. It'd be better to be hooked on heroin then racing, at least they have methadone for junkies. The only thing that works for racers is disability, death, or old age. I quit 5 years ago, and I'm 63.
Stopped reading at "if you're having run racing, youre doing it wrong"
LMAO ! Didn't read !
A great movie, great characters, beautifully photographed, but ruined by the background music.
i think if you patch all these guys together you might get a normal person!
