Volumes & Voxels
We start by exploring what volumes and voxels are, and how they work in the context of Houdini.
Volume VOPS
Similar to how we can manipulate points with VOPS, we can use the same techniques for volumes. There are some crucial differences however between regular geometry and volumes and in this series we talk all about it.
Distance Volumes
Distance volumes (or SDFs) are a different type of volume that measure distance to a surface. This is a very powerful class of volumes that allow us to further control simulations and also create cool organic type of geometry and even animations as well.
Velocity Fields
One of the main ways to achieve a variety of magical FX is with velocity fields. In this series we talk about what velocity fields are and also create a few velocity fields and use them to drive particles.
Downloads
In the downloads lesson I’ve included the HIP file where I built all of the examples from the course. If you want to explore this file you can download it.

❤🤘
Amazing Tutorial buddy, as always!
The most comprehensive courses and all that for free! Thanx for providing in the community
Thanks a ton! Do you mean increasing or decreasing values? I use the scroll wheel for that. Regular scroll is 0.1, ctrl + scroll is 1.0, and shift + scroll is 0.01 , pretty handy
@@voxyde pff so oobvious 😅 thanks a lot!
@@Hardnine9 no worries I didnt know about it either for quite a long time!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
4:15 LOL that's true
I like to dunk on blender but its actually pretty good for VFX hehe
Do you have any plans for modeling lectures?
Do you mean procedural modelling? I might do some in the future.
I'm done with VOPS so what's next? Shall I start volumes course or watch other tutorials? If yes which one?
After VOPS yes, Volumes are the next one. I'm working on Intro to Pyro now, as a follow up to this volumes one. Soon I'll have a learning path page with all the courses lined up in the order they should be watched
@@voxyde thank you so much you're very supportive 🤘🏻 🙏🏻
did you close the discord server? i remember that you have a discord server 🤔
Its on hold for a bit while I restructure things, will post about it when its up!
