    I used to correspond with Hanz Holzer when I was a kid between 11-14 years old. He was always very kind, and always wrote back. I've since lost the letters, but always thought it was so nice for such a prolific author to take the time to write back to a kid.

      @@dianapearson1771 what's wrong with an author corresponding with a reader? Plenty of authors have done so. CS Lewis, Conan Doyle, Madeline L'Engle, Tolkien, King. Back then that's how people communicated. Pen, paper, stamps.... they were called letters and we would mail them. Would you be upset if I said that he responded to a tweet or a YT comment I made and we had a few back and forth replies? Now, if i said that he was calling my house at 3am, that would be one thing, but geez! Get your mind out of the gutter!

    I was 14 in 1971, and was experiencing what I thought was a haunting. My best friend was a witness to strange stuff happening on several occasions. Of course, my parents didn't notice anything other than items going missing. I actually wrote Mr. Holzer, who surprised me by writing back. He suggested that I was dealing with a poltergeist. I believe he was correct, as the scary stuff died down over time. I am 63 now, and wish I had kept the letter with me when I moved out. I had it stored with mementos that got tossed out when my parents separated. Lots of stuff was thrown out that I wished I still had...dang it.

      My friends Mom told us that when her cousin was killed in WWII, two " angels" stood at the foot of his parents bed that same night, only for a few minutes. They put off a very bright light that had awakened the parents. After the angels left, they knew what had happened to their son!!!!!!

    Ooh, love that last one about New Orleans! I read an article on a weather website once, about the storm surge during Katrina, and it said that emergency services still receive calls to this day, with nothing but static on the other end. When people are sent to investigate the address the call came from, there isn't a house there at all anymore - just a concrete slab. Never expected to read such an eerie thing in an article about weather conditions!

    I live in Bewdley near Kidderminster so this story was great. I've found the haunted kidderminster house on street view.... 25 Birmingham Road, Kidderminster, DY10 2BX. Its cream and renovated - no longer 3 church shaped windows but can still see where 3rd one was and the old fancy plasterwork around door etc. Its a care home - wonder if it's still haunted.

    Seeing this report on Kidderminster it reminds me of an incident not far away in Bromgrove where I lived.
    One night I was walking back from Catshill village towards my house off the Old Birmingham Road up Braces Lane. It was very dark. My wife said there was someone behind us. I looked and there was a very tall man all in black from head to toe. I grabbed my wife's hand and walked fast towards the lamp post on the junction. When I looked back he was gone. I'm 6ft tall and the man was easily 7ft. A few weeks later we awoke to see this apparition at the bottom of our bed but it faded when my wife screamed.
    Years later I was talking with a guy who's family have lived there for generations. I said we had a weird experience in Braces Lane.
    Without any prompting he said " Was it a tall man in black"
    It seems it had been seen for generations before...

    I've read most of Hans Holzers books, he was WAY ahead of his time in paranormal activity hunting! There was a recent show on TV that featured Holzers daughter and his old cases. They did updates and showed old photos and really scary recordings by Holzers medium, who worked on his cases with him. He seems to have been a very reputable and professional ghost researcher. He was extremely detailed with his information and record keeping. He never seemed to exaggerate his experiences or try to show anything but what he saw or captured on camera. I think the famous photo of the brick floating at the Borley Rectory (since burned down) was his....

    • @CuriousWorldProductions
      @CuriousWorldProductions  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I saw some of the interviews with his daughter and read about him in Underwood's book. I always thought the floating brick photo was for Life magazine.

    • @christineparis5607
      @christineparis5607 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@CuriousWorldProductions
      You are correct. The photo was taken by Mr. David E. Sherman, Life photographer on April 5th, 1944.
      Miss Cynthia Ledsham, a researcher attached to Time and Life Magazines, said that they were initially disappointed that the demolition of the building had progressed so far. There was almost nothing left. She said, "As Mr. Scherman pressed the trigger, a brick, or part of a brick, suddenly shot 4 ft. up in the air in front of what remained of the kitchen passage (where much activity had been witnessed in the past). The three of us saw it." She also added, "If indeed, this was a genuine paranormal phenomenon, then we have the first photograph ever taken of a poltergeist projectile in flight".
      I read a book in 7th grade and remember seeing the photo. It made a tremendous, chilling impression on me, and as I believe it was a Hans Holzer book, I assumed he had taken it. After your post, I looked on Google (where I should have checked first) and found the information I just copied. It is so fascinating!!

    I grew up in a paranormal paradise. In National City CA I grew up in my dad's house and my bedroom was the scene of a brutal murder of an elderly lady. It turns out that her husband was the one who took a baseball bat to her head. Her head was smashed to a pulp. My dad married a woman when I was 5 who was a witch and a medium. She sensed the old woman's presence and would talk to her. The old woman's spirit turned to throwing things, appearing at the foot of beds, she would speak to us and everything a spirjt does. I was in fear for 11 years until I moved to my mom's here in Alamogordo NM.

    "... Mr John Robinson - a recluse - died (alone in the house) in May of 1958, his body was found a month later ..."
    Well, this occurrence could've worked as some kinda "exorcism", as a rotting and decaying body laying around inside that house for a month might've terrified, disturbed and deterred even the most unnerving ghosts from the house.
    Knowing, he had "sealed himself inside" (even his own mailbox), automatically makes you wonder, how he's been finally discovered? - What a weird imagination for us and certainly an unforgettably horrifying experience for the person(s) actually finding him in June; omg.

      Do not worry the vast majority of ghosts are quite harmless. Most seem to just be a sort of record rather than anything that can respond to your presence. They appear to carry out the same actions again & again. Also one sometimes will help you & can even keep you from harm so be prepared to listen. Once a ghost prevented a fire at a house where I lived by warning me a candle had been left in an unsafe place.

      @@sweettangerines8182 The ghost woke me with its very calm but definite presence and spoke to me in a quiet, calm, gentle, kind, friendly but authoritative voice, similar to that which a caring teacher might use, saying that my friend had gone to sleep leaving a candle burning and it was not safe. There was an imperitive feeling communicated with the words, so accordingly I immediately arose & went upstairs to my friends room & found things to be as the spirit had spoken.

    Protip: There are almost no deceased individuals talking through mediums. Those are not people. That was not someone's son. That is not someone's brother. And obviously, that wasn't a polish merc. If it was anything at all, it was a hateful thing with a burning jealousy of humans. Never talk to them. Even when they help, they hurt. Some play the long game. But the end results in a broken life and/or body. They are not people.

    This was a great video. It’s interesting because I just returned from New Orleans about a week ago. When you’re not walking down the bustling streets of Bourbon and on the off streets at night it’s just an eerie quiet and dark place. I’ve heard of strange tales like New Orleans And Jamaica. The local folk even talk about that hotel near the Mercedes Benz dome. They said that there’s bodies still trapped inside of it but the state won’t Allow the government or National Guard to retrieve the rest of the bodies. The damage structure is a very eerie site.

It was under construction and part of the building collapsed. 3 men were killed but it is to dangerous to retrieve their bodies as of right now. It is really sad for the families. And there are no shortage of ghost stories here in New Orleans. The LaLaurie Mansion, Mertle Plantation, St Roch Cemetery and many other places. You could definitely fill a video

    I liked these stories, all of which are new to me. The Cotswold tale about the camera made me smile too, its the sort of thing I sometimes imagine for my own stories. I once asked a colleague, a self-proclaimed supernaturalist how cameras (which are very tangible things) could be expected to photograph spirit beings which had no bodies. Her reply was that her group used special ones, heat seeking or thermal imaging cameras, and not an everyday one such as the Canon in the film!

    Back in 1989 my wife and I took our two sons ( ages 7 and 9) to Disneyland. Going up the coast we also toured the Queen Mary ship in Long Beach. I was watching my kids when a woman appeared out of nowhere in front of me . She was dressed in a long flowing dress, large hat that had clear scarf over it. Her type of dress looked like late 19 th. century. Our eyes immediately met , for how long I don't know. She smiled at me then looked down at my oldest son, who was about 10 feet away from me .When I glanced at my son, he was also looking back at her. When I turned back to her , she disappeared. At the time , I had no idea who she was . About ten years later I was in a library browsing . I came across a picture of that same woman in a book .You guessed it . The Queen Mary .

    In spite of what "John" said they did indeed engage in (to put it mildly) harassment. They forcibly engaged in firearm confiscation (removing protection from looters) even people not effected by the flood and later deemed by the courts to be unlawful and unconstitutional. One guardsman when asked if the orders to confiscate civilian firearms bothered him he said "I'm just fallowing orders". Does that phrase sound familiar?
