    Doug sounds very down to earth and I love just how much Geralt's popularity caught him by surprise!
    But you guys also touch on a truly important topic that I wish people understood better when it comes to voice acting. There's so much that goes into it how the voice comes across in the final product - both when it is truly amazing and when it isn't as good. Great voice direction can give true dimension to the actor's performance - which is why it was so surprising to learn in your chat with Thancred's VA from FFXIV that he never had the other people present or even doing the lines at the same time. And on those rarer and much harder to schedule occasions when the actors are present in the same room as they record, it REALLY comes through.
    And while the actor can only sound in so many ways, there is also "the voice" that they are known for. Even with very versatile actors like Lani Minella, I can tell her performance near instantly because despite her incredible range and massive amounts of characters of all shapes and sizes that she's voiced - that's still her voice and it is recognizable because they've just spent so long talking in that certain way that their natural voice too develops along with it.
    Always appreciate these interviews and breakdowns, thanks for the work you do!

    Great interview and fun to see you both nerd out and see a bit of the human behind the voice of this iconic character that is one of my all time favourites.

      That's so cool. I also "found" the game very late. First playthrough in winter 2022-2023. Not a gamer myself, but boy did this game steal my heart! Now playing the DLCs a second time thru.

    This was such a wonderful interview, I really didnt think it would be as continuously interesting as it was as I am not familiar with your channel at all. Doug Cockle is such a fabulously hospitable and humble person I love him even more now. Marcos (is that the content creators name?) Asked such expertly poignant questions that didnt seem trite or contrived in the slightest! I shall keep an eye on this fellow :)

    Hey Marco, love the videos, especially when you introduce people to video game music who haven't heard much of it. I'd recommend you take a listen to "Brave Soldat" from Call of Duty: World at War. A short but real creepy and sad piece.

    • @ArteriusSaren
      @ArteriusSaren 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I recall correctly the main theme Brave Soldat is only a part of composition called Vendetta. Hearts of the Reich and Black Cats are equally as good as Doom and Halo soundtracks.

    Super cool interview, I understood how important voice actors wanted to put themselves in the right conditions to connect with their character when I watched a Let's play from the voice actress of Aerith for FFVII remake, she was so invested, she even cried at some points in the game and described so well the feelings her character was going through and what she had to do to convey it.
    Wonderful world :)

    • @MelodiesForTheSoul
      @MelodiesForTheSoul 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Even more so when you consider the amount of emotion and character they need to convey just on voice alone, no camera to help emote, it's all done through audio and I think that is certainly a very special talent.

    Am I the only one feeling like Doug is Geralt putting on a voice, rather than the reverse? 😄
    35:45 I somehow expected him to say "I had the wonderful opportunity to play Macbeth in Shakespeare's... I forget the name"
