The actual demon itself is in the cage. Fiddlesticks appears whenever high tension or fear in a populace because it is a fear demon that feeds off of fear. It has different bodies for each region it lives in. The main fiddlesticks is a scrapheap scarecrow that terrorizes a country in the middle of a war. (Btw I don't even know how I know so much about a game I don't even play)

Fact: He was originally planned to be voiced by a terrifying chorus of all sorts of voices. That is, he was supposed to speak in male and female voices at the same time.
That could be cool I suppose. To be honest, I like on what they decided on more. Just the sharp jagged voice and the tones and everything are just mwah. Also better than just a ton of people speaking at the same time

Currently, lore-wise he has no voice and doesn't understand the concept of language. He forcibly exherts sounds from the little gobule thing in the chest cage (his actual body) to mimic spoken language to attract attention (ITS A TRAP!). Also, this form of him, IIRC is not even his full true form/power, and is a partial release. Fiddlesticks is the name of the scarecrow form, specifically (and there are different forms in different regions). The entity controlling it has no name, as it very likely pre-dates civilization itself. So, "it/he's "Primordial Fear," basically.
@@randomuserame this is the sort of nuance people forget about his lore but easily my favorite part. Fiddlesticks, end of men. Fiddlesticks, first of ten. It is a thing so old it can only be a thing. To personify it is to misunderstand it. Same could not be said for the other demons. Granted I think all but Evelynn and Raum (Swain) in game are old as shit. Both of which are easily personified ("humanized") and gendered and not much is lost by doing so.
Fiddle has some of the best voice lines in the entire game. "Its not real it cant hurt you." "Its in the house." "Something is in the fields." Truly harrowing. His interaction lines with other champions are also great, as he calls out their biggest fears to their faces and mocks them with it.
Not even sure if its mocking or just the way it knows how to communicate. If its fear incarnate, the demon that originated fear itself, then its gonna speak its language… scaring the shit out of you lmao
I remember when the Fiddlesticks cinematic came out, everyone was scared shitless! Fiddlesticks was never really taken seriously before his update, because he was very simply...a funny little scarecrow dude! He looked very different to how he does now. Then they reworked and updated Fiddle's lore and released this trailer, and updated his voice lines to be truly horrific. He's a wonderful example of league's lore and artistic team at their finest. I love the theme so much because I find it's telling the story of a mother and child hiding from Fiddles, and the mother is singing the song, and then when everything goes quiet for that moment, Fiddlesticks has found them. And then the screaming.

Extra lore: fiddlesticks calls himself "first of ten", implying that he was the first of the 10 primordial demons, the strongest and oldest demons on runeterra. It is implied that he is one of if not the oldest demon on runeterra. The demon lore in league is super cool but they still havnt expanded on it enough, id love to see more of it. Another demon related champion who is really cool is Nilah. She made a deal with the primordial demon of Joy which robbed her of all her emotions except for joy (in exchange for keeping the demon trapped). A person who can only feel joy, no matter what the situation.
Isent it established lore that Fiddle is that demon. Cant be 100% sure but i think i remember Necrit doing a video about that and that Fiddle killed the other 9 demons to become the first of ten "killer of men". Also most dont know that the demon isent the scarecrow but its just a host form for the demon. The true form of the demon is that dark scary looking void inside the "cage" tha fiddle is carrying on hes chest in hes splash art.

Fiddlesticks is special even for a demon. Other demons like Evelynn, Tahm Kench or Nocturne were born during the Rune War, a magical calamity that ravaged large parts of runeterra. These beings were formed by and feed on certain negative aspects of humanity like agony or greed. Fiddlesticks however ist much more ancient (one character calls him ur-demon) and feeds on one of the most primal emotions: fear. It also wasn't formed by humans. That means it is much more primal and resembles something completely alien. The forms of other demons at least look more or less humanoid, but Fiddlesticks is just an amorphous mass of shadow with lots of glowing red eyes that takes hold of a shambling vessel (like the metallic scarecrow). It also doesn't understand what language is. It simply imitates the sounds of its victims because it noticed that these screams either lure in new victims or cause even more fear. Its color story is especially terrifying. A vilage gets terrorized by Fiddlesticks. At first, one person goes missing. After a few other strange occurences - often involving strange cases of madness or delusions - someone is sent to get help. Something just grabs him and drags him into the field, never to be seen again. From that point on, people seem to become insane from the constant feeling of dread. As a last stand, one person forms a militia to fight against this strange being. Only the narrator of the story survives this because he managed to flee. But he remembers strange, unreal crows and terrifying screams. The more of the story he tells to the reader the more horrified he becomes. In the end, he starts hearing the cawing of crows and the voice of the person who led the militia, even though nobody else can hear it. The story cuts off at that point.
Voices. A masterful short story. The most horrifying part of that story is when the narrator describes the town, boarded up in their houses with the lights on while he can hear them slowly breaking down in fear. Talking about things that scare them, giggling and screaming in inscrutable fear. Until one by one the lights go out and the voices are silenced with only one voice echoing the voices fears. The other terrifying part is near the end when the militia go out into the fields and only the narrator sees it, a lopsided face of sackcloth and rusted metal stuck to a large spindly ‘thing’ that everyone else doesn’t seem to see until a cacophony of screaming animal sounds bursts out from it while the narrator flees from the screams, red light and grisly splattering sounds.
I also love how he almost seems to not understand his form. He walks on two, three, or even six legs. Sometimes he attacks with the scarecrow's body, other times he reaches out his incorporeal demon hand to strike. He uses his larger arm as a third leg when standing still, and holds the lantern with his demon arm. When striking with his schyte, he ends up bent over backwards, and has to take a moment to right himself. It doesn't matter which appendage is meant for what, they're all just tools to him.
My favorite thing about Fiddlesticks is that the way his abilities are designed in game you are encouraged to deny the opponent vision of the map so that you can "jumpscare" them with your ultimate from outside their vision. Often times playing fiddlesticks I will be sitting behind walls (or otherwise out of sight) waiting for my prey to get close enough, which is very satisfying especially with how well it ties into his lore.
As I understand : There are multiple demons in Runeterra (League of Legend's world) and Fiddlesticks is the oldest one , the most primitive of them ( the other ones are smarter and have more tools in their arsenal to exist and satisfy their needs , for example there is a succubus demon that took the form of a woman and seduces and consumes her prey ) and he is unable to speak but he can perfectly mimic voices of known ones to atract his prey.
There is 10 primal demons, and a whole lot of lesser ones. Each one of them feeds on certain emotion. Fiddlesticks is called "First of Ten" and "The Fear" for that reason. The "succubus" one is Evelynn, presumably demon of Bliss, then there is also demon of Nightmares, Nocturne, demon of Obsession, Taam Kench - all of them are champions in game. Also we have Noxian commander Swain, who made a deal with Demon of Secrets, and the newly introduced Nihla, controlling the Joy demon called Ashlesh. There is page on League Wiki with the full list of all known demons of Runeterra.

Fiddle can speak to some degree. Whenever he encounters another demon in game he’ll say their name. Including naming the demon bound with swain addressing swain as Raum instead.
@@chantrak5936 have you seen Noxian demon list? In it, all demons we encounter in game seems - at least o theorize to be - Fiddlesticks descendants. If they was created because of fiddle, he may be able to recognize them. But it's officially confirmed by fiddles's lore on Universe that he has no consciousness, so no, it cannot speak as a normal sentient being would - only mimic speaking.
Something that I like about this song is that Fiddlesticks mimics voices of those who he has eaten, to lure more people arround and scare them before eating. The change in voices is that, baiting you, then the scream is his ultimate ingame, so he has ulted and is about to eat you.
Was a fairly close guess based on the music. The air of mystery around Fiddlesticks is part of the appeal, something is much scarier when you don't understand it. But it's interesting to look at what was given to us during it's release, compared to what can be seen in game, such as the body we see isn't the monster, but instead a puppet. And the realization that it is primal, it knows what scares us, and that's all it needs to know to live. Fiddlesticks has always been a mystery, and even it's own voicelines in game offer less information about itself, and more information about the world around it. Good video as always
@@MarcoMeatball To give you an idea just how thoroughly frightening it is and how well it understands people‘s fear, every single voice line towards each (terrestrial bound, with the exception of kindred but you’ll get there eventually) champion triggers fiddles sticks to say something that relates to their most traumatic event in their life (I.e. the screams of their love ones calling out to them, something said before the tragic event, someone yelling at them for something they may have done in the past etc) When he’s moving from point A to B he starts parroting snippets of what’s essentially the plot of a horror movie (someone goes missing, people freak out, they find out what it is, *it’s in the house* and so on) It all come together to make what’s arguably the most terrifying league champion to date
The most terrifying thing about Fiddlesticks is how it's capable of reaching into your subconscious, then rip out what you fear the most and imitate it. One of the most haunting lines in the game is when Fiddlesticks meet Annie in game (A young girl with pyrokinetic abilities, no more than 12 who's followed by a fiery spirit called Tybauld - Also known as Tibbers in the form of a teddy bear as her only friend, who was unable to save her step-sister from being torn down a river current ontop of A LOT of other terrible trauma) Fiddlesticks' words to her is an imitation of her dead step-sister calling out "Annie... help me... Annie..." in a broken, rusty and jarring demonic voice imitating a child. Despite Fiddlesticks having nothing to do with her death, Fiddlesticks knows your worst fear and most traumatic life experience just by being near you, and it will feast on that fear before killing you.
Marco, I bet that you will love the voice lines of this champion, not because of the champion itself, but because the technique that the voice actor uses is unusual, using aspirations as a way to produce the voices. You should watch one video about it at least in your free time! Edit: If you are testing a new format, then I would add a few more minutes and hear some of the voice lines, you are a voice actor now, and it would be amazing (at least for me) to hear your opinion about the voice lines you hear from them. It might need a little bit more editing, but I think it would be a cool idea.
Honestly you pretty much nailed it. You can't get a lot out of fiddlesticks because he's super one-dimensional. He's scary. And they do that very well, but there's no like, concrete history, no concrete origin. He's just scary.
Honestly they have written Fiddlesticks really well. We don't know of any concrete history or origin because that's part of his character, nobody is suppose to know. It's a bit lame because as readers we'd like to know, but it really puts us in the same shoes as the characters in the story by just not knowing. He might appear one dimensional, but that's part of what makes him really interesting, he's one dimensional because nobody is suppose to know.
As a voiceactor you should really look at Fiddle's voicelines and the making of. Kellen Goff is insane in this roll. He's able to reacreate most voicelines without any sort of editing, and his range in this creepy voice is incredible.
I feel like part of the love for Fiddlesticks is that the Fiddle you see is a new version, a rework. The old Fiddlesticks was a gooddamn mess: awful voice acting, bad model, stale gameplay, no real lore etc. Honestly a badly written joke you were supposed to see as a threat. The new Fiddlesticks is like everything you could want. Great lore, connection to other champs, fantastic voice acting, cohesive design and a fresh, but very familiar gameplay.
"High above the rotten rows....claws, metal, teeth and crows" one of my favorite quotes from Fiddle! He's the true manifestation of fear and the way he articulates his voicelines....so creepy. I enjoy watching your videos trying to figure out what the champions are about!
something else interesting, in my opinion is the theme for Nilah, which is a new champion supposedly bound to the primordial demon of joy. not sure how that necessarily translates to her theme, but it’s certainly soemthing.
I think my one favorite factoid about the song (granted, I don't know if it was ever confirmed, or if it was just a theory) is that Fiddle is actually the one singing, copying the voices of victims right before he fed.

Fiddlesticks is to what we know the first of the primordial demons that roamed Runeterra in its ancient time. There’s a saying about him that goes: “Fiddlesticks End of Men. Fiddlesticks first of Ten” referring the 10 Great Kings now turned demon. He’s the most powerful and the oldest, being ancient. He was banished and locked away in a tower for centuries, until he broke free by a foolish mage who wanted to harness new power (or at least clearly didn’t know what he was doing). Being locked away for so long, he doesn’t get around as much as the other demons since he’s so primitive, thus he adapted. He disguises himself more notably as a scarecrow and mimics every sound of his victims (just like he did in the trailer you watched) His VO in game is exactly that: people in their final moments, begging for their lives, animal screaming and screeching, etc. Sorry if this is super long, I’m really into LoL’s lore, haha. Really like your videos ! It’s amazing how the music alone lets you capture the essence of a character. Wonderful content you’re providing! Despite having listened to his theme numerous times, it never fails to give me chills. Out of all of the champions themes out there, this one is by far one of my favorites. It's so eerily creepy, and with reason, as it's the theme of the oldest and strongest of all demons that ever walked Runeterra.
The coolest part about fiddlesticks is that he mimics the last words and worst fears of his victims. Also his VA has this whole video on YT where he explains how he does the fiddle voice.
Your comment itself about a mother singing it to her child is interesting to me, because his voice lines are either his opponent's most fearful moments (such as a champion's parent's final words), but some are just the final moments of some of his victims, and one of them is quite literally a mother telling her child to close her eyes and everything will be over soon
Greate video and I do like the fact that you look up some lore or trailers after the music, The intersting thing about Fiddlesticks is that he mimics his victims so his voicelines in game are all last words spoken by them, and some are kinda chilling. You get one that says "It's in the house, ITS IN THE HOUSE" or "See ? It's just a scarecrow" In my opinion, a really greate attempt at horror from Riot for this one, and you were mostly right with your idea of stealing souls or spirits and consuming even tho you said you had no idea :)
I love how in this theme it sounds more of a story rather than a "song" that we are used to hearing. The best part to me is when we hear those metal squeaks prior to the final section of the screaming. The coolest thing about that section is that when you take into account that its a story (A real story not just in the fact that the song it self tells a story as in a real event where someone is being chased by Fiddlesticks), and that whilst someone is running and finally hides. Silence. Nothing can be heard while they are in their hiding spot, until the sound of squeaking metal starts to get closer and closer. Fiddlesticks is in the same room as you, and he knows where you are hiding. Then the screaming segment of the song begins.
Dude literally going through my favourite champions one by one. Now I just need the themes of Ornn and Tahm Kench to be reacted to and thats everything. Also really glad you actually went and read the lore in the video this time. It was a nice finishing touch that I hope to see more in the future.

This was great! I definitely love the addition of the lore reading at the end- the comparison of your thoughts to the lore was great. If I can toss out a recommendation, perhaps We All Lift Together from Warframe (which has its own accompanying trailer)? I think it does something similar to this piece's use of the screams, incorporating environmental sounds in a thematic way as part of the music.
He has the ability to see peoples greatest fears and mimic them, he also mimics the last words of those he kills. Some of his voice lines shows some of those he has killed such as “Who’s There? I’m Scared, can you help me?” Or “It’s in the house!” Also “They have been gone for three days now” he is amazingly creepy and is the Worlds basic Boogieman story. In the video you watched, he is in the kingdom of Decmia (Spelling is bad sorry) but the reason he is there is actually explained, the Soldiers are talking about Farsbarrow, what happened there was a demon possessed a young boy that had magic and started a panic, since the kingdom banned magic and is strongly against it, the town went all Salem witch trails because the demon started hopping bodies. The mass hysteria was massive in the region and because of that it drew Fiddlesticks there. Just a little background on my favorite champion and some lore lol 😊
In the video you mentioned that Fiddlesticks looked like a tree which isn't too far off. Out of all of the demons in League lore he is by far the oldest and most primal of the bunch. Also unlike the other demons such as Evelynn who is the Demon of Lust, he doesn't need to put as much effort into creating a form that will bring forth the desired emotion. This is why his entire body looks like a cobbled together mess of danger so all you need is but one Glace to understand that whatever is in front of you is neither human, nor wishes to engage peacefully. You are the prey, and there is nothing you can do about it
I wonder if Evelynn appears differently and has different names depending on who she's trying to prey on. Like, if she's trying to prey on a straight woman or a gay man, does she appear as a man? Or does she only prey on straight men?
whats crazy about fiddlesticks is his voicelines, u can hear him say the same thing his victums said before their final moments which is pretty creepy,. this is one character i think can have its own standalone horror game and it would be amazing, let alone if he was brought to dead by daylight as well
Oh imo Fiddlesticks is just amzing in everything! From music, to lore, to gameplay! One of the best out there for sure. A few more who fit this category pretty well are Pantheon, Swain, and Nunu & Willump! Would love to see videos on them :) Also the format is great! Glad you've started looking at the champions' lore!
I know I'm late but fun fact: all of fiddlestick's voice lines were done without voice editing or filters. The voice actor actually sounds like that when recording the lines (the fiddle ones, not the imitation ones)
Another wonderful video. I would suggest either Tahm Kench, the River King, or Viego, the Ruined King for the next reaction video. Both have amazing character themes as well.
When the rework came around I listened to that song on repeat; it's genius. As for his art style, thematic direction, and music: I think they hit the ball out of the park. Probably the best Riot has to offer.
One (possible) cool thing about the song itself. It's implied, by Fiddlesticks's lore, cinematic and such, that the mother and child singing the song... are Fiddlesticks itself. It's not super clear, like it is cinematic you can tell Fiddle is mimicing the dead guys voice, but you can notice how in the song, mom & girl have few quirks while they sing. Odd pauses, shifting tones, almost like they have trouble singing clearly. or have some trouble mimicking voices at times ;)
The voicelines of Fiddlesticks are really interesting to understand the character and also interesting in a voice actor perspective as the one who voiced Fiddle didn't need much to change his voice. (Inward bass/growl and inhaled speaking with some forced whispers were the techniques mostly used)
love the way these reactions evolved. From the Pantheon reaction where not a lot was added to the song to this where we get a lot of thoughts on the music and many interesting pauses plus we get some lore or a conclusion at the end. awesome keep doing what you're doing
there's a lot of intricacies in his theme that help build more of a visual concept besides "scary", but unfortunately the one I wish we heard was crows. His design has a scarecrow motif, and his gameplay involves crows, so why not his theme? but other than that, my favorite detail is the metallic scraping sounds. They're the perfect sound to imply some form of crude construct, something objective not meant to have life, but has life anyways, or some assembly of parts that aren't meant to be together. This works perfectly with fiddlesticks being a demon puppeting essentially a pile of scrap
I must say, I love the design they went with for Fiddlesticks, keeping him a scarecrow but really embracing the horror aspect, which makes sense with him being a fear demon, really cool design and the character trailer is short but really emphasises his creepiness and I love it. Also this is a very good format, it gives a nice breakdown of all of the things involved and gives a proper explanation of the character for those that don't know before hand too.
If you want to deeper understand champions I would suggest checking out their voicelines (some will be hard to understand without deep diving into the lore of League, but most of them just give a lot of personality to a character). Also there're plenty of good channels that explain the lore, stories and voicelines in a short period of time, I would recommend Necrit
Fiddlesticks has a very primitive mind, he doesn't understand humans, but he understands what makes them fear, and that's all he needs. He basically only operates on instincts. He doesn't know how to speak, but he can mimic voices, and it just turns out that, him being a murderous demon and all, most of the voices he mimics are of people that are about to die. He has taken a form of a scarecrow not because he wanted to, but because he knew that it scared people. I think it's an incredible way to create a character that's supposed to be an embodiment of fear without going too far off the rails. It's even kinda Lovecraftian in a way.
I think the best part about Fiddlesticks is that they essentially revamped his lore to reflect his pre-rework gameplay(his fear cc and ult jumpscare and such), but also used him to tell bits of story for othe Champs in the game. His main domain being fear, his voice lines actually give ideas into the fears of the other Champs giving me the assumption that Fiddlesticks can see or has seen ANYTHING that causes fear.
9:40 I had always looked for content like this but never found it, it is a very interesting topic to me to see if a ost can convey the themes of a entire character. If it is possible I will recommend you music from Guilty Gear or Blazblue, maybe it strays from your style but there's so many good pieces.
Fiddlestick's theme creates an image in my head, where the part people are screaming and cutting, makes me think of a demon or something unknown pillaging a village or a small town with just people being killed in gruesome ways non stop, fire, and people running and screaming into the night.

Fiddlesticks is one of my favourite characters in league. When they re-worked his design and theme I was so excited. The theme gives me chills every time. I can't praise the creators enough.
i love how sound design can bring over the idea of what an entire character is about. like i believe piano is very common for like ice type stuff like Velkhana from monster hunter

Fiddle and Nocturne and the most spooky/nightmare fuel combo in this game. Damn I remember when back in days people could really get scared af ingame when they saw them first time and not knowing how their ultimate abilities work
You should listen to his voice lines they are amazing, most of the being either voices he has stolen, or him referencing other demons by their name or purpose, or even talking about the fears of other champions

Fiddlesticks is the primordial demon of Fear the first of ten as he says in one of his lines there are 9 others we know of 6 Evelynn(Pain), Tahm Kench(Greed), Nocturne(Darkness), Rhaam(Secrets)(Swain made a pact with it), Ashlesh(Joy), and Fiddlesticks(Fear). As of now we have discovered the newest champ has made a pact with Ashlesh it wiped her from history and destroyed her emotional spectrum so she could always feed it joy for power. The demons in lore are some of the most interesting things to read up on including the two other characters connected via Yone and Lillia.
The thing i like about this song is its story telling, which really is emersive, just imagine on the dusk of dawn on a country side you are walking home and just last night you heard some disappearance in your town and how a local drunk was babbling about crows and how the scarecrow is alive blah blah you dont mind him since lol fiddlesticks its just a old childrens tale you learned in school to keep children from wandering off the night like the boogeyman, anyways your just minding your business in your farm walking home in a windless afternoon, the fields calm as if there is no wind, then suddenly this scarecrow in your peripheral moves you look at it intently then walked away, soon the crows starts flying as the sun sets to night the scarecrow is nowhere to be seen you panic, thinking to yourself "this is a joke right" "this cant be real" as something is moving to you closer, you ran to the woods the trees bending as if trying to reach you as the sound of rusty iron and rusty cage swings nearer and Nearer and NEARER then silence, all you can see in the distance a fading light of a swinging cage as its lights beckons fourth and a melody call out. Too late
I really do like this format, it works really well for stories/settings you aren't familiar with and it is enjoyable seeing what you got right or were so close on.
Ever since his remake, I've since fallen in love with him. his gameplay and the lore are so rich and deep and this song is hooooly so much subtle hints and is not what I was expecting for a song from him. Love it
fun fact about fiddle that syncs his lore with the gameplay, his ult is a really strong teamfighting tool in the midgame, and so everyone basically thinks of it as a jumpscare, just as how fiddlesticks himself is a jumpscare in his lore.
I didn't realize but when the humming first starts, you can hear to different tones. one to indicate the adult female adn one to indicate the younger girl as well. never payed attention to it but seeing as how they sing together and the way you explained it as passing on a folklore, the detail is even cooler to me.
He is demon that lives on fear,he became to be or was born of the first scream, the sounds he makes are only the last thing he hears , that's why in the trailer you can hear him say "help me" because it's the last thing that Guard says!
I think that sometimes it's interesting to look at the character art + music and other times look at the music first then the character trailer, but Always finish with the lore, and see feel which one is better! I'm loving the series so far, keep up the good work!
At 2:18 it's really cool how you hear a woman singing that melody, and then a fainter, raspier echo of her voice does the same thing. I think it's supposed to be hinting at the way Fiddle can only copy the phrases of others, in a not-quite human, uncanny-valley, voice

I simply must mimic the suggestion to check the voice lines. The talent of that voice actor is excellent, and I can't imagine it's too common a skill. I stumbled across the Fiddlesticks trailer last Halloween, (the greatest time of year), and as a fan of all things horror, it instantly became one of my all time favourites. It got me to try the game for a while, and I eagerly consume anything related to it not only for the lore, but the talent that went into redesigning a laughable nothing character into one that certainly gives off the vibe of being an ancient, unknowable, manifestation of fear. (Also that it automatically zeroes in on heroes traumas is just a delicious ability).

The actual demon itself is in the cage. Fiddlesticks appears whenever high tension or fear in a populace because it is a fear demon that feeds off of fear. It has different bodies for each region it lives in. The main fiddlesticks is a scrapheap scarecrow that terrorizes a country in the middle of a war. (Btw I don't even know how I know so much about a game I don't even play)

Currently, lore-wise he has no voice and doesn't understand the concept of language. He forcibly exherts sounds from the little gobule thing in the chest cage (his actual body) to mimic spoken language to attract attention (ITS A TRAP!). Also, this form of him, IIRC is not even his full true form/power, and is a partial release. Fiddlesticks is the name of the scarecrow form, specifically (and there are different forms in different regions). The entity controlling it has no name, as it very likely pre-dates civilization itself. So, "it/he's "Primordial Fear," basically.

Same could not be said for the other demons. Granted I think all but Evelynn and Raum (Swain) in game are old as shit. Both of which are easily personified ("humanized") and gendered and not much is lost by doing so.

I remember when the Fiddlesticks cinematic came out, everyone was scared shitless! Fiddlesticks was never really taken seriously before his update, because he was very simply...a funny little scarecrow dude! He looked very different to how he does now. Then they reworked and updated Fiddle's lore and released this trailer, and updated his voice lines to be truly horrific. He's a wonderful example of league's lore and artistic team at their finest.
I love the theme so much because I find it's telling the story of a mother and child hiding from Fiddles, and the mother is singing the song, and then when everything goes quiet for that moment, Fiddlesticks has found them. And then the screaming.
It gets better when you consider the fact that this is likely Fiddlesticks recreating the song.
My fav part about his voice lines is how the VA inhales when he talks causing this inhuman voice

Extra lore: fiddlesticks calls himself "first of ten", implying that he was the first of the 10 primordial demons, the strongest and oldest demons on runeterra. It is implied that he is one of if not the oldest demon on runeterra.
The demon lore in league is super cool but they still havnt expanded on it enough, id love to see more of it.
Another demon related champion who is really cool is Nilah. She made a deal with the primordial demon of Joy which robbed her of all her emotions except for joy (in exchange for keeping the demon trapped). A person who can only feel joy, no matter what the situation.
Isent it established lore that Fiddle is that demon. Cant be 100% sure but i think i remember Necrit doing a video about that and that Fiddle killed the other 9 demons to become the first of ten "killer of men". Also most dont know that the demon isent the scarecrow but its just a host form for the demon. The true form of the demon is that dark scary looking void inside the "cage" tha fiddle is carrying on hes chest in hes splash art.

Fiddlesticks is special even for a demon. Other demons like Evelynn, Tahm Kench or Nocturne were born during the Rune War, a magical calamity that ravaged large parts of runeterra. These beings were formed by and feed on certain negative aspects of humanity like agony or greed. Fiddlesticks however ist much more ancient (one character calls him ur-demon) and feeds on one of the most primal emotions: fear.
It also wasn't formed by humans. That means it is much more primal and resembles something completely alien. The forms of other demons at least look more or less humanoid, but Fiddlesticks is just an amorphous mass of shadow with lots of glowing red eyes that takes hold of a shambling vessel (like the metallic scarecrow). It also doesn't understand what language is. It simply imitates the sounds of its victims because it noticed that these screams either lure in new victims or cause even more fear.
Its color story is especially terrifying. A vilage gets terrorized by Fiddlesticks. At first, one person goes missing. After a few other strange occurences - often involving strange cases of madness or delusions - someone is sent to get help. Something just grabs him and drags him into the field, never to be seen again. From that point on, people seem to become insane from the constant feeling of dread. As a last stand, one person forms a militia to fight against this strange being. Only the narrator of the story survives this because he managed to flee. But he remembers strange, unreal crows and terrifying screams. The more of the story he tells to the reader the more horrified he becomes. In the end, he starts hearing the cawing of crows and the voice of the person who led the militia, even though nobody else can hear it. The story cuts off at that point.
In another story, he's called a being born "in the primal scream of creation".
Voices. A masterful short story.
The most horrifying part of that story is when the narrator describes the town, boarded up in their houses with the lights on while he can hear them slowly breaking down in fear. Talking about things that scare them, giggling and screaming in inscrutable fear.
Until one by one the lights go out and the voices are silenced with only one voice echoing the voices fears.
The other terrifying part is near the end when the militia go out into the fields and only the narrator sees it, a lopsided face of sackcloth and rusted metal stuck to a large spindly ‘thing’ that everyone else doesn’t seem to see until a cacophony of screaming animal sounds bursts out from it while the narrator flees from the screams, red light and grisly splattering sounds.

I also love how he almost seems to not understand his form. He walks on two, three, or even six legs. Sometimes he attacks with the scarecrow's body, other times he reaches out his incorporeal demon hand to strike. He uses his larger arm as a third leg when standing still, and holds the lantern with his demon arm. When striking with his schyte, he ends up bent over backwards, and has to take a moment to right himself. It doesn't matter which appendage is meant for what, they're all just tools to him.
My favorite thing about Fiddlesticks is that the way his abilities are designed in game you are encouraged to deny the opponent vision of the map so that you can "jumpscare" them with your ultimate from outside their vision. Often times playing fiddlesticks I will be sitting behind walls (or otherwise out of sight) waiting for my prey to get close enough, which is very satisfying especially with how well it ties into his lore.

As I understand : There are multiple demons in Runeterra (League of Legend's world) and Fiddlesticks is the oldest one , the most primitive of them ( the other ones are smarter and have more tools in their arsenal to exist and satisfy their needs , for example there is a succubus demon that took the form of a woman and seduces and consumes her prey ) and he is unable to speak but he can perfectly mimic voices of known ones to atract his prey.

There is 10 primal demons, and a whole lot of lesser ones. Each one of them feeds on certain emotion. Fiddlesticks is called "First of Ten" and "The Fear" for that reason. The "succubus" one is Evelynn, presumably demon of Bliss, then there is also demon of Nightmares, Nocturne, demon of Obsession, Taam Kench - all of them are champions in game. Also we have Noxian commander Swain, who made a deal with Demon of Secrets, and the newly introduced Nihla, controlling the Joy demon called Ashlesh. There is page on League Wiki with the full list of all known demons of Runeterra.

Fiddle can speak to some degree. Whenever he encounters another demon in game he’ll say their name. Including naming the demon bound with swain addressing swain as Raum instead.
@@chantrak5936 have you seen Noxian demon list? In it, all demons we encounter in game seems - at least o theorize to be - Fiddlesticks descendants. If they was created because of fiddle, he may be able to recognize them. But it's officially confirmed by fiddles's lore on Universe that he has no consciousness, so no, it cannot speak as a normal sentient being would - only mimic speaking.
Something that I like about this song is that Fiddlesticks mimics voices of those who he has eaten, to lure more people arround and scare them before eating. The change in voices is that, baiting you, then the scream is his ultimate ingame, so he has ulted and is about to eat you.
Was a fairly close guess based on the music. The air of mystery around Fiddlesticks is part of the appeal, something is much scarier when you don't understand it.
But it's interesting to look at what was given to us during it's release, compared to what can be seen in game, such as the body we see isn't the monster, but instead a puppet. And the realization that it is primal, it knows what scares us, and that's all it needs to know to live. Fiddlesticks has always been a mystery, and even it's own voicelines in game offer less information about itself, and more information about the world around it.

(I.e. the screams of their love ones calling out to them, something said before the tragic event, someone yelling at them for something they may have done in the past etc)
When he’s moving from point A to B he starts parroting snippets of what’s essentially the plot of a horror movie
(someone goes missing, people freak out, they find out what it is,

It all come together to make what’s arguably the most terrifying league champion to date

The most terrifying thing about Fiddlesticks is how it's capable of reaching into your subconscious, then rip out what you fear the most and imitate it.
One of the most haunting lines in the game is when Fiddlesticks meet Annie in game (A young girl with pyrokinetic abilities, no more than 12 who's followed by a fiery spirit called Tybauld - Also known as Tibbers in the form of a teddy bear as her only friend, who was unable to save her step-sister from being torn down a river current ontop of A LOT of other terrible trauma)
Fiddlesticks' words to her is an imitation of her dead step-sister calling out "Annie... help me... Annie..." in a broken, rusty and jarring demonic voice imitating a child.
Despite Fiddlesticks having nothing to do with her death, Fiddlesticks knows your worst fear and most traumatic life experience just by being near you, and it will feast on that fear before killing you.
Marco, I bet that you will love the voice lines of this champion, not because of the champion itself, but because the technique that the voice actor uses is unusual, using aspirations as a way to produce the voices. You should watch one video about it at least in your free time!
Edit: If you are testing a new format, then I would add a few more minutes and hear some of the voice lines, you are a voice actor now, and it would be amazing (at least for me) to hear your opinion about the voice lines you hear from them. It might need a little bit more editing, but I think it would be a cool idea.

Honestly you pretty much nailed it. You can't get a lot out of fiddlesticks because he's super one-dimensional. He's scary. And they do that very well, but there's no like, concrete history, no concrete origin. He's just scary.

True, but like many monster champions, part of the fun of enjoying Fiddlesticks is seeing how other people interact with it.
Honestly they have written Fiddlesticks really well. We don't know of any concrete history or origin because that's part of his character, nobody is suppose to know. It's a bit lame because as readers we'd like to know, but it really puts us in the same shoes as the characters in the story by just not knowing. He might appear one dimensional, but that's part of what makes him really interesting, he's one dimensional because nobody is suppose to know.
The warmness and harmlessness of child sound mixed with the sound of pure terror is what makes it special
As a voiceactor you should really look at Fiddle's voicelines and the making of. Kellen Goff is insane in this roll. He's able to reacreate most voicelines without any sort of editing, and his range in this creepy voice is incredible.

I feel like part of the love for Fiddlesticks is that the Fiddle you see is a new version, a rework. The old Fiddlesticks was a gooddamn mess: awful voice acting, bad model, stale gameplay, no real lore etc. Honestly a badly written joke you were supposed to see as a threat.
The new Fiddlesticks is like everything you could want. Great lore, connection to other champs, fantastic voice acting, cohesive design and a fresh, but very familiar gameplay.

Fiddlesticks is to what we know the first of the primordial demons that roamed Runeterra in its ancient time. There’s a saying about him that goes: “Fiddlesticks End of Men. Fiddlesticks first of Ten” referring the 10 Great Kings now turned demon. He’s the most powerful and the oldest, being ancient. He was banished and locked away in a tower for centuries, until he broke free by a foolish mage who wanted to harness new power (or at least clearly didn’t know what he was doing). Being locked away for so long, he doesn’t get around as much as the other demons since he’s so primitive, thus he adapted. He disguises himself more notably as a scarecrow and mimics every sound of his victims (just like he did in the trailer you watched) His VO in game is exactly that: people in their final moments, begging for their lives, animal screaming and screeching, etc.
Sorry if this is super long, I’m really into LoL’s lore, haha. Really like your videos ! It’s amazing how the music alone lets you capture the essence of a character. Wonderful content you’re providing!

Despite having listened to his theme numerous times, it never fails to give me chills. Out of all of the champions themes out there, this one is by far one of my favorites. It's so eerily creepy, and with reason, as it's the theme of the oldest and strongest of all demons that ever walked Runeterra.
The coolest part about fiddlesticks is that he mimics the last words and worst fears of his victims.
Also his VA has this whole video on YT where he explains how he does the fiddle voice.

Your comment itself about a mother singing it to her child is interesting to me, because his voice lines are either his opponent's most fearful moments (such as a champion's parent's final words), but some are just the final moments of some of his victims, and one of them is quite literally a mother telling her child to close her eyes and everything will be over soon

The intersting thing about Fiddlesticks is that he mimics his victims so his voicelines in game are all last words spoken by them, and some are kinda chilling. You get one that says "It's in the house, ITS IN THE HOUSE" or "See ? It's just a scarecrow"
In my opinion, a really greate attempt at horror from Riot for this one, and you were mostly right with your idea of stealing souls or spirits and consuming even tho you said you had no idea :)

I love how in this theme it sounds more of a story rather than a "song" that we are used to hearing. The best part to me is when we hear those metal squeaks prior to the final section of the screaming. The coolest thing about that section is that when you take into account that its a story (A real story not just in the fact that the song it self tells a story as in a real event where someone is being chased by Fiddlesticks), and that whilst someone is running and finally hides. Silence. Nothing can be heard while they are in their hiding spot, until the sound of squeaking metal starts to get closer and closer. Fiddlesticks is in the same room as you, and he knows where you are hiding. Then the screaming segment of the song begins.
Dude literally going through my favourite champions one by one. Now I just need the themes of Ornn and Tahm Kench to be reacted to and thats everything.

If I can toss out a recommendation, perhaps We All Lift Together from Warframe (which has its own accompanying trailer)? I think it does something similar to this piece's use of the screams, incorporating environmental sounds in a thematic way as part of the music.

He has the ability to see peoples greatest fears and mimic them, he also mimics the last words of those he kills. Some of his voice lines shows some of those he has killed such as “Who’s There? I’m Scared, can you help me?” Or “It’s in the house!” Also “They have been gone for three days now” he is amazingly creepy and is the Worlds basic Boogieman story. In the video you watched, he is in the kingdom of Decmia (Spelling is bad sorry) but the reason he is there is actually explained, the Soldiers are talking about Farsbarrow, what happened there was a demon possessed a young boy that had magic and started a panic, since the kingdom banned magic and is strongly against it, the town went all Salem witch trails because the demon started hopping bodies. The mass hysteria was massive in the region and because of that it drew Fiddlesticks there. Just a little background on my favorite champion and some lore lol 😊
In the video you mentioned that Fiddlesticks looked like a tree which isn't too far off. Out of all of the demons in League lore he is by far the oldest and most primal of the bunch. Also unlike the other demons such as Evelynn who is the Demon of Lust, he doesn't need to put as much effort into creating a form that will bring forth the desired emotion. This is why his entire body looks like a cobbled together mess of danger so all you need is but one Glace to understand that whatever is in front of you is neither human, nor wishes to engage peacefully. You are the prey, and there is nothing you can do about it
I wonder if Evelynn appears differently and has different names depending on who she's trying to prey on. Like, if she's trying to prey on a straight woman or a gay man, does she appear as a man? Or does she only prey on straight men?
whats crazy about fiddlesticks is his voicelines, u can hear him say the same thing his victums said before their final moments which is pretty creepy,. this is one character i think can have its own standalone horror game and it would be amazing, let alone if he was brought to dead by daylight as well
Oh imo Fiddlesticks is just amzing in everything! From music, to lore, to gameplay! One of the best out there for sure.

I know I'm late but fun fact: all of fiddlestick's voice lines were done without voice editing or filters. The voice actor actually sounds like that when recording the lines (the fiddle ones, not the imitation ones)

When the rework came around I listened to that song on repeat; it's genius. As for his art style, thematic direction, and music: I think they hit the ball out of the park. Probably the best Riot has to offer.
One (possible) cool thing about the song itself.
It's implied, by Fiddlesticks's lore, cinematic and such, that the mother and child singing the song... are Fiddlesticks itself. It's not super clear, like it is cinematic you can tell Fiddle is mimicing the dead guys voice, but you can notice how in the song, mom & girl have few quirks while they sing. Odd pauses, shifting tones, almost like they have trouble singing clearly.
or have some trouble mimicking voices at times ;)
You should react to the character's voice lines because that's where fiddlesticks really comes alive as a thing of horror
The voicelines of Fiddlesticks are really interesting to understand the character and also interesting in a voice actor perspective as the one who voiced Fiddle didn't need much to change his voice. (Inward bass/growl and inhaled speaking with some forced whispers were the techniques mostly used)
You could also take it as the theme being "sung" Fiddlesticks, as he mimics the voices and noises before that ending!

there's a lot of intricacies in his theme that help build more of a visual concept besides "scary", but unfortunately the one I wish we heard was crows. His design has a scarecrow motif, and his gameplay involves crows, so why not his theme? but other than that, my favorite detail is the metallic scraping sounds. They're the perfect sound to imply some form of crude construct, something objective not meant to have life, but has life anyways, or some assembly of parts that aren't meant to be together. This works perfectly with fiddlesticks being a demon puppeting essentially a pile of scrap
I must say, I love the design they went with for Fiddlesticks, keeping him a scarecrow but really embracing the horror aspect, which makes sense with him being a fear demon, really cool design and the character trailer is short but really emphasises his creepiness and I love it.
Also this is a very good format, it gives a nice breakdown of all of the things involved and gives a proper explanation of the character for those that don't know before hand too.
If you want to deeper understand champions I would suggest checking out their voicelines (some will be hard to understand without deep diving into the lore of League, but most of them just give a lot of personality to a character). Also there're plenty of good channels that explain the lore, stories and voicelines in a short period of time, I would recommend Necrit

Fiddlesticks has a very primitive mind, he doesn't understand humans, but he understands what makes them fear, and that's all he needs. He basically only operates on instincts. He doesn't know how to speak, but he can mimic voices, and it just turns out that, him being a murderous demon and all, most of the voices he mimics are of people that are about to die. He has taken a form of a scarecrow not because he wanted to, but because he knew that it scared people. I think it's an incredible way to create a character that's supposed to be an embodiment of fear without going too far off the rails. It's even kinda Lovecraftian in a way.
I think the best part about Fiddlesticks is that they essentially revamped his lore to reflect his pre-rework gameplay(his fear cc and ult jumpscare and such), but also used him to tell bits of story for othe Champs in the game. His main domain being fear, his voice lines actually give ideas into the fears of the other Champs giving me the assumption that Fiddlesticks can see or has seen ANYTHING that causes fear.
9:40 I had always looked for content like this but never found it, it is a very interesting topic to me to see if a ost can convey the themes of a entire character. If it is possible I will recommend you music from Guilty Gear or Blazblue, maybe it strays from your style but there's so many good pieces.

Fiddlestick's theme creates an image in my head, where the part people are screaming and cutting, makes me think of a demon or something unknown pillaging a village or a small town with just people being killed in gruesome ways non stop, fire, and people running and screaming into the night.

Fiddlesticks is one of my favourite characters in league. When they re-worked his design and theme I was so excited. The theme gives me chills every time. I can't praise the creators enough.
i love how sound design can bring over the idea of what an entire character is about. like i believe piano is very common for like ice type stuff like Velkhana from monster hunter

Fiddle and Nocturne and the most spooky/nightmare fuel combo in this game. Damn I remember when back in days people could really get scared af ingame when they saw them first time and not knowing how their ultimate abilities work
You should listen to his voice lines they are amazing, most of the being either voices he has stolen, or him referencing other demons by their name or purpose, or even talking about the fears of other champions

Fiddlesticks is the primordial demon of Fear the first of ten as he says in one of his lines there are 9 others we know of 6 Evelynn(Pain), Tahm Kench(Greed), Nocturne(Darkness), Rhaam(Secrets)(Swain made a pact with it), Ashlesh(Joy), and Fiddlesticks(Fear). As of now we have discovered the newest champ has made a pact with Ashlesh it wiped her from history and destroyed her emotional spectrum so she could always feed it joy for power. The demons in lore are some of the most interesting things to read up on including the two other characters connected via Yone and Lillia.
That was one of my favorite reworks, that music it's so calm and at the same time and causes a bizarre anxiety. Amazing analysis Marco!
The thing i like about this song is its story telling, which really is emersive, just imagine on the dusk of dawn on a country side you are walking home and just last night you heard some disappearance in your town and how a local drunk was babbling about crows and how the scarecrow is alive blah blah you dont mind him since lol fiddlesticks its just a old childrens tale you learned in school to keep children from wandering off the night like the boogeyman, anyways your just minding your business in your farm walking home in a windless afternoon, the fields calm as if there is no wind, then suddenly this scarecrow in your peripheral moves you look at it intently then walked away, soon the crows starts flying as the sun sets to night the scarecrow is nowhere to be seen you panic, thinking to yourself "this is a joke right" "this cant be real" as something is moving to you closer, you ran to the woods the trees bending as if trying to reach you as the sound of rusty iron and rusty cage swings nearer and Nearer and NEARER then silence, all you can see in the distance a fading light of a swinging cage as its lights beckons fourth and a melody call out. Too late

I love the ending of his theme, the instruments imitating a quickening heartbeat, screaming and said heartbeat stopping is just great.

Ever since his remake, I've since fallen in love with him. his gameplay and the lore are so rich and deep and this song is hooooly so much subtle hints and is not what I was expecting for a song from him. Love it
fun fact about fiddle that syncs his lore with the gameplay, his ult is a really strong teamfighting tool in the midgame, and so everyone basically thinks of it as a jumpscare, just as how fiddlesticks himself is a jumpscare in his lore.

I didn't realize but when the humming first starts, you can hear to different tones. one to indicate the adult female adn one to indicate the younger girl as well.
never payed attention to it but seeing as how they sing together and the way you explained it as passing on a folklore, the detail is even cooler to me.
He is demon that lives on fear,he became to be or was born of the first scream, the sounds he makes are only the last thing he hears , that's why in the trailer you can hear him say "help me" because it's the last thing that Guard says!
I think that sometimes it's interesting to look at the character art + music and other times look at the music first then the character trailer, but Always finish with the lore, and see feel which one is better!

At 2:18 it's really cool how you hear a woman singing that melody, and then a fainter, raspier echo of her voice does the same thing. I think it's supposed to be hinting at the way Fiddle can only copy the phrases of others, in a not-quite human, uncanny-valley, voice

I simply must mimic the suggestion to check the voice lines. The talent of that voice actor is excellent, and I can't imagine it's too common a skill.
I stumbled across the Fiddlesticks trailer last Halloween, (the greatest time of year), and as a fan of all things horror, it instantly became one of my all time favourites. It got me to try the game for a while, and I eagerly consume anything related to it not only for the lore, but the talent that went into redesigning a laughable nothing character into one that certainly gives off the vibe of being an ancient, unknowable, manifestation of fear. (Also that it automatically zeroes in on heroes traumas is just a delicious ability).
