I always prefer docu series like this, rather than that robotic voice, or even a good narrator... It feels more authentic (OBVIOUSLY editing can mess it up still, but not here, they did an awesome job)

You are so right, it's pretty much the same training athletes go through to get into national teams and the Olympics. Same for professional dancing, martial arts, anything that requires long hours and years of training, discipline and a competitive spirit. Same pain, stress - both mental and physical, injuries, loneliness, self-doubt. Basically, the strong survives. Also same shackles, because for K-pop, once you sign a contract which often is somewhere between 7 - 10 years, you're in debt to the company who provides training, housing, food, schooling, etiquette training etc to mould you into this perfect image. For athletes training for the Olympics, you rely on sponsorships and some families even take out hugh loans to allow their child to have the best professional trainers. The investment for a brighter future is enormous with no guarantee you'll become successful.
That Auntie that BTS used to eat at her store, got popular, especially among ARMYs, fans. She has photos, signed pictures, little figurines etc. of BTS full decorating her restraunt and she even celebrated and cut a cake with her employees for BTS’s #1 on HOT100 win and took a video of it. She is a precious soul and is known for her welcoming attidute for people who come to visit and eat there. Im sure she is an important person, memory for the members as they used to have meals there a lot and they had gone to visit her.

forgive me if i’m wrong but it’s kind of?? rarely possible?? if u go through the loophole that a young defected north korean becomes a south korean idol.. but even then they’ll have south korean citizenship by then. they properly wouldnt be viewed too well unless they’d been in the south since childhood at least either. but ig many good messages could be spread from an idol like that. they’d have a lot of deep stories, views and emotions to share

Your comparison to sports culture in the US is sooo on point! I feel like Americans will often look down on Kpop and claim it’s child abuse etc, but then turn around a rabidly watch and support high school and college ball or Olympic athletes. The average Olympian is like in their mid-twenties, and in some specific sports much younger (gymnastics for example). How do you think they got to that level?

Lawyers, professors of all types, editors, authors, singers, producers, actors, scientists, doctors, athletes, historians, military, even politicians. There is one professor in Korea that does lectures with BTS as a subject. There was conference where a lot of historians, sociologists, psychologists, archeologists, literature?, all army and they went through a ton of BTS past work and discussed it and posted lectures in how it fits into theory of their profession. They are usually part of our theorists for the storyline. A lot of these people aren't always online or online at certain times because of their own busy lives so you don't see this much. I myself work in my federal govt in the Environment dept. We got everything. It's what happens when you have an extremely diverse fandom.
I was so impressed. It noticed that there was tremendous hard work and effort behind the gorgeous stage. BTS songs include their "inner story" it's REAL , not fake. That always shakes our emotions... and we sympathize with the story. Thanks for this video😌💜

Thanks for checking out the series - yep its fan made, but pretty impressive -- there are 12 chapters out now plus deleted scenes - BTS went thru that gruelling process which as you've said pretty similar to sports -- people in dance Academies go through it as well, i mean you hear it often with ballet dancers. One thing that made it different for BTS was Bang PD (CEO of Big Hit now called Hybe) - he encouraged BTS to write their own music- which made the message behind the songs sincere and the fans can see it. -- looking forward to your reaction to chapter 2.

Bang PD could have picked anyone but it wouldn't work the same way it did for BTS. If you're wondering what made them successful, you have to consider everything. If any of the components were missing, I don't think they'd make waves the way they do now. From Bang PD being genuine in his vision to him handpicking people starting from namjoon who's got a good brain and talent to yoongi who's very familiar with music, etc. There are 3 key components to BTS: 1. BTS - the brain and heart of the game. They set the direction while having good character, putting in the hard work consistently, and respecting their craft by constantly improving and trying their hand at everything they want to do. Even things like RM's support for palestine and having two of banksy's pieces or tae buying an LV unicef support children bracelet or hobi supporting women's rights through charity or jimin's donating to schools, etc are all visions or directions that influence their fans. 2. ARMY - people who support and fight for the. Following their lead, ARMYs also have a self-driven mind. If BTS aren't as active or there's no content, we're still constantly active. It's a community of different types of people of various age groups right? A lot of different professions and things to do. From conversations that are bts-related such as discussing theories to bonding in their name and carrying charity work, etc. 3. BigHit - providing the platform and framework and creative direction and equipment and support it takes to push BTS as far as they can go. Because they're their first successful group, they really went all out in trying out all the different types of platforms to see how far they can reach their audiences. All three are self-driven with different methods going at it in the same direction. And that's what creates synergy. They pick each other up during the downtime and keep it going. Also, BigHit works a little different from every other KPop company. While the other kpop company might restrict the creative freedom of idols and follow a "formula for success" by forcing them to compete and starving them, and weighing them, it's different with BTS. More organic. Not perfect, but the best I've seen so far and I've been around kpop long before bts

In korea you are 1 your first year and on january 1st everyone get one year older (your agedon't change on your birthday but with a new year). For example: People born in december 2000 would in korea say that they are 22 now but internationally they are 20 and turn 21 in december. Another example: When JK (born september 1st 1997) joined big hit around july in 2011 so he was only 13 turning 14 in september but he says he was 15 when he joined because that was his age in Korea.

Bang PD could have picked anyone but it wouldn't work the same way it did for BTS. If you're wondering what made them successful, you have to consider everything. If any of the components were missing, I don't think they'd make waves the way they do now. From Bang PD being genuine in his vision to him handpicking people starting from namjoon who's got a good brain and talent to yoongi who's very familiar with music, etc. There are 3 key components to BTS:
1. BTS - the brain and heart of the game. They set the direction while having good character, putting in the hard work consistently, and respecting their craft by constantly improving and trying their hand at everything they want to do. Even things like RM's support for palestine and having two of banksy's pieces or tae buying an LV unicef support children bracelet or hobi supporting women's rights through charity or jimin's donating to schools, etc are all visions or directions that influence their fans.
2. ARMY - people who support and fight for the. Following their lead, ARMYs also have a self-driven mind. If BTS aren't as active or there's no content, we're still constantly active. It's a community of different types of people of various age groups right? A lot of different professions and things to do. From conversations that are bts-related such as discussing theories to bonding in their name and carrying charity work, etc.
3. BigHit - providing the platform and framework and creative direction and equipment and support it takes to push BTS as far as they can go. Because they're their first successful group, they really went all out in trying out all the different types of platforms to see how far they can reach their audiences.
All three are self-driven with different methods going at it in the same direction. And that's what creates synergy. They pick each other up during the downtime and keep it going.
Also, BigHit works a little different from every other KPop company. While the other kpop company might restrict the creative freedom of idols and follow a "formula for success" by forcing them to compete and starving them, and weighing them, it's different with BTS. More organic. Not perfect, but the best I've seen so far and I've been around kpop long before bts

actually it's funny that they said kpop stars are not born they're made when if you look at the music industry as a whole, record labels around the world MAKE their stars. when one of their artists started making bucks, getting recognized, becoming mainstream, they started to mold the other ones to be just like the previous one and see whether it's a success or not and the cycle repeats. it's the same around the world especially in the west but of course it's bizarre and weird when asians do it.

When they say their age it's always atleast 1 year more than you would say they are.
In korea you are 1 your first year and on january 1st everyone get one year older (your agedon't change on your birthday but with a new year).
For example: People born in december 2000 would in korea say that they are 22 now but internationally they are 20 and turn 21 in december.
Another example: When JK (born september 1st 1997) joined big hit around july in 2011 so he was only 13 turning 14 in september but he says he was 15 when he joined because that was his age in Korea.
