And if Taehyung doesn't like to talk about it it's because he was forced to hide, couldn't talk with the new fans and couldn't participate, as he wasn't really in the group.. So it's not a good memory for him.
@@tiredaf807 there were talks saying that bighit/bang pd purposely hid tae before debuting them bc they were afraid that if companies see him before he even debut they would try to make huge offers to take him to their companies; bighit was afraid of that bc they don’t hav enough money to top it to keep tae (bc they knew kth was a visual)
another one, they used tae like a secret weapon ig??? mysterious member suddenly appearing=gets the public’s attention=more fans. And we know that when ppl found abt taehyung, he immediately gained tons of fansite so ig the strategy was successful
but yea idk his story was pretty sad, where all bts members were doing logs and he has to hide in the corner next to a trashcan 🥺 he can’t do logs unlike other members so he pretended doing one alone

I just want to note that it's important to realize that BTS' experience wasn't like a lot of other kpop groups. Mostly because BigHit wasn't like any other agency. It had trainees but certainly not the hordes of them big companies did. They also looked for artists with the interest in and potential to drive the creative of a group. They paid for Yoongi's school. I'm just saying you can't listen to a big 3 artist's onboarding process and project that onto Bangtan. It was different in significant ways. Please keep that in mind as you watch.
Yea I think that's why in the documentary in the beginning they showed how it is for the kpop industry in general ad the talked about how BigHit is different!

Exactly, Big Hit has always been different & has strived for changes in the industry. From my understanding, the norm was charging artists who debuted for food, housing & training expenses the company incurred during their training period. BH has always just charged it to research & development.
Even now, many people was criticizing BH's decisions, but in the end those decisions have made us dodge a lot of bullets, like what happened with Spotify and Kakao. It's like BangPD sees the future hahaha and He has been in charge of training his artists but not only as Idols, but as complete artists. Take the case of TxT, a young group, who are allowed to be creative with their music. BH is a visionary company, that's why other companies fear it.
@@liliadelgado7815 yes the most important thing to be noted is their mix tape or their solo albums. as members have said that its bighit rule that if any member of agency weather it is bts or txt or other if they want to release solo albums then they have to take part in every thing writing, composing every aspects is important ... this really means a lot as this type of method will enhance the members artistry talent and make them more confident of their work. this is really a good way of making even young members of bighit to learn writing and composing or producing .... as bangpd said they don't care how much long you take to make good solo album but the work should be done by you not agency. this will really help the members to become real artist.
that is the huge difference between other kpop agncies and bighit.

@@bembolbug maybe. As fans, we can only imagine, but it was his job at the time. Work sucks. Rules suck. Some members making the logs may have wanted to go home instead of film stuff. We will never know.
By the time that they were filming the logs, they were already together for around a year or two that's why they were already comfortable 😊

tae was a hidden member, because bang pdnim didn't want to reveal him and worried tae would call by another agency, because he is unique. he is diamond, his voice, his facial expression, his talent is very rare.
Unless you have a source, *please stop spreading that V story.* Just on the surface it is outright ludicrous for BigHit to train *anyone* for years/months to sing and learn choreo yet worry he may ditch for another company right before a group debuts. That one member being fickle would ruin everything for everyone... *Sounds absolutely ridiculous, right?*
I'm so glad you've gotten round to this documentary series Sam! It's honestly so well put together for newer Armys to understand the context behind how BTS has developed to where they are today (you could basically see it as a crash course of their history throughout the years).
Highly recommend that you check out of 'School of Tears' by RM, Suga and Jin - it's so underrated and not spoken about enough, particularly for its lyrical content.
I'm so excited for you to check out the rest of the series! Just a note though for future episodes, the credits contain extra bonus content so it's worth letting them roll out and watch until the end. Also, there are additional videos released with each episode including extra footage (labeled as deleted scenes and bonus content respectively), which don't fit into the narrative of the documentary within the main episodes but again serve as a great catch up on older footage that most newer Armys will be unfamiliar with.

btw, they've actually knew each other for ~1-4 years before they debuted. so, actually, they've had this chemistry amongst each other long before the logs !!

That's what differentiates kpop and BTS. I see RM and suga knowing what they're doing spending time on producing. Apart from scheduling and startegizing by their company, I believe BTS has come up by themselves.

V was a "secret member" who didn't get presented previous to their debut. He debuted with the group, and trained with the group prior, but BigHit thought he was such a good visual they wanted to keep him secret. So his vlogs from the time (which he did do, but which didn't get shown until later) reflect the fact that sometimes he felt lonely because he was the secret. Imagine training like they describe in this vid, and never getting any credit or exposure for it. V went through that for the group. But since of course he's become the visual king we know and love.

BTS PAVED THE WAY
There’s so much BTS content out there and it will take some time to learn everything and find everything, so it’s good that videos like this is made to make it easier for baby armys to know stuff!

Bang PD gave them freedom and he is keeping the system still now(ofc with the massive assets, not the teaching program improved a lot and support trainees more now.)
But every trainees who undergone training at bighit all claims that bighit has the toughest system so every day trainees ran away without notice. Most trainees come and go around all the entertainment companies so most of them are used to the typical training system..
However bighit does nothing from the start. They never force them to stay up all night, quit school, or else.
They eliminate trainees who has a strong will to improve unless they have no talent from the start. But if there's no improvements, they have to leave.
Bang PD explained he wants performer who love music and can produce their own music but not the celebrity. So after BTS, all trainees get mandatory music writing class. They have to be ambitious, but also have patience,and get along with others.
Till the 3rd generation idols,idols writing one or two lines of lyrics (not composing) was a very rare,unique move. And BTS was different. Suga even mentioned in BTS song "you fake rappers who became rappers (by the company) because they cant sing".Yes, till BTS came rapper was the stereotypical position who has no talent gets..
so his line was a shoking diss towards kpop industry.

i would reccomend every video on KIWI'S channel but you can start with "kpop award show moments i think about a lot!" their videos are super funny, but also somehow "informative" cause they show you really ICONIC moments!! (ps you reacted to almost everyone that appear in their videos!)

if you're from "the big 3" even though it's like the "big 4" now because of bighit. But if you were in the big 3 companies you wouldn't be caught hustling. 1) those companies have enough to support you! 2) it would tarnish their reputation if their idols or trainees were seen out promoting on the streets etc! if you're not from those companies then you have to hope your company will handle it well, as there have been many incidents of groups having to do this themselves! BTS as we all known literally hustled every day. from going onto the streets to promote for their free concert, to even after they'd debuted and were used as backup dancers in the background during someone's speech! I'm not saying groups from the big 3 have it easy, but they definitely have it easier than groups in smaller and less known companies! If you're from a 'big 3' company then you'll most likely be welcome because they have the influence, and whilst I do like some groups that are from the big 3, I'd say I have more respect and sympathy for groups/artists that started from nothing! 💜
There are few kpop artist that came up by themselves while they are under an agency. They don't have to train but instead they focus on making music and stuff. But those are solo singers (not all but few). For example artist under Sony Music Ent, since the agency is not an agency that produce/train idols. The latest artist debuted under them is DEMIAN who was a soundcloud singer before joining the company. He did not train, the system somehow like western, they just make music and stuff on their own with the help of the agency. Most of them are underrated. There are also many more artist that doing the same including underground artist.
If you are interested in trying out K-Dramas I really recommend “Hwarang” (The beautiful poet warrior) V is in it and it has a sick OST with V and Jin in it but the actual series is really good, it takes place in Silla an old kingdom of Korea (they were three at the time) this drama wasn’t liked that much in Korea but internationally it banged and I really enjoyed it!

There are solo singers without an agency to back them up but I don't think I've seen any groups debuting without an entertainment company? but there are idols that started their own company so yeah.

They are so well-researched and non biased. He does the work that so many western reporters don’t when researching and explaining BTS and Kpop. He encapsulates so well how truly phenomenal BTS is in the Kpop industry, the pop industry, and the music industry as a whole. It helps that with how well he does his research, he shows so much respect for eastern concepts and their impact on the western world. It’s beautiful.

18:33 That's interesting. I'm only reminded of back during Backstreet Boys and NSYNC times. They worked very very hard, but they were constantly exploited by their management. That's why both groups sued their management to be freed from them. There was a whole documentary on it last year on TH-cam called "The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story". It's quite interesting if you ever want to watch on your own time :).
I believe both western and eastern music industries exploit a lot of their artists. The only reason the korean entertainment industry is under worldwide scrutiny now (via many articles I've seen with the scintillating titles like "the dark side of kpop") is because it's a hot topic now due to how popular kpop is now in the media. That being said, should trainees be put under all this arduous training? As the video says, similar training is endured in sports like football, soccer, etc etc. Ballet dancers, gymnasts, etc are also put through rigorous training. But there's a line between training and abuse/exploitation. And that's what we should be concentrating on.

*Dude idols get mistreated a lot...not all but many smaller groups. They are not given accomodation, respect and the contracts are sometimes called 'slave contracts'. MANY IDOLS DONT GET PAID THEIR DUE. Many idols leave the group after debut because its too hard. Exo had 12 members, 3 left because of mistreatment. Got7 recently left their previous company JYPE because they werent being promoted or treated right. Fans of the J-FLO Entertainment group Newkidd began raising alarm after three of its members seemingly 'disappeared'. The seven-member group debuted with their self-titled single album in April 2019 and went on to promote their release across major music shows. It seemed like things were going their way after a successful start, but the group's activities slowly dried up, and eventually, came to a screeching halt.BTS has been mistreated on Korean shows a couple of times. Weekly idol and Jungkook on Flower Crew. Back before BTS blew up they appeared on Weekly Idol a couple of times. In one episode you don’t see Suga a lot. Why? One of the host (I’m pretty sure I know which one) didn’t like him. He wanted Suga edited out of the entire episode, luckily that didn’t happen. yes sam...this was the sad environment during casting 2013-15...the weight thing...now a few agencies actually let them live(pnation...label is amazing...hyuna is from there)(EDAM...IU's agency...they are just amazing...they treat her like their kid)(KQ entertainment...ateez entertainment...they are amazing fr)and our very own bighit...they dont force them to diet(dont come at me because of the 2013 thing...thats in the past and bighit has learned)...like we all see BTS,TXT and Enhypen...eating and drinking very lavishly...and its their choice about they wanna diet or not....bighit cares about the talent and passion...and I love them from that...plus they care more about artists...like...they protect the boys in the agency so well...in contrast...Jay why pee is pretty much trash wbk...YG 2020 was ok...but i dont see them protecting their artists...they do sometimes...they dont many times....and SM...its a big no no...trash...and especially TS entertainment its literally satan entertainment...
