Thank you for your review, especially your warning about storing the thermometer. My original 8 quart Foodi stopped working after 4 years of almost constant use and I replaced it a few weeks ago with the OL 701. I will start storing the thermometer in a drawer to stop straining the cable.
Hello nice video I've had mine for awhile an truly love it its use pretty much everyday the one lid is the best so much better than the first one with two lids an customer service is awesome my firat one stop working just call them an they didnt even Hesitate sending me another one so that's why i have so many ninja products thxs for ur video
I too have bought a silicone mat like your red one and use that in the bottom anytime I'm putting any of the wire type racks in.. are there any settings that you would NOT use the silicone mat in the very bottom with? I would love to see more cooking videos!!
Since the mat is silicone, You can leave the mat in all the time. For me, I only use the mat when the rack is being used. If I am pressure cooking, sauteing, or using the silicone sling, no need for the mat--just would be something else to have to clean:) The crisper basket has plastic feet so do not need the silicone mat. Most of the damage done to the coating was when air frying, the air circulation is quite strong and is jiggling the rack around the bottom thus nicking up the coating. Most surprising to me is that the ceramic coating is not that durable and nicks up easily. The Green Pan has a more durable coating. I like the coating on the cookware set better; similar to the Tfal coating.
That's a great and honest review - thank you. I noticed, you have a quite well equipped kitchen and probably it wouldn't be that hard to make all the dishes without the ninja, wouldn't be? What was the reason that convinced you most to buy it? Thank you in advance for your responde.
For those that do not have the room to store or have the budget for individual appliances, the Foodi can produce the same results with only one unit. The Ninja is convenient, quick, and easy to clean. It is not a gimmick. My family uses the Ninja several times a day. Though I have all of the specialty appliances, I purchased the Ninja for the temperature probe (perfect steaks, chops, fish) and the steam/crisp/bake function; then found out how easy to make Yogurt:)
@@rossishima Thank you for your responde. Great to hear the temperature probe appeal to you, in so many videos the people complain about how inaccurate it is. In your honest opinion is the ninja better for the bake and crisp function than an regular oven?
@@panna_nikt I find the temp probe to be very accurate in accordance to the food doneness setting selected. Unless your oven has a water insert, the steam bake and steam crisp is a game changer. Professional bakery use steam ovens. I can steam/crisp a 6lb chicken is about 1 hour using the temp probe and it comes out juicy and crisp. No more dried out Salmon either. Since the Nija internal volume is smaller than a regular oven, it gets up to temp a whole lot quicker which saves time and energy.
Would you be able to cook most of your stuff without the thermometer like with the Ninja OL601 or even the OL500? I'm debating rather to get the OL601 at almost half the price or buy the expensive OL701. I'm finding it hard to justify the price tag!
The thermometer takes the guess work out of time, temp control, and flipping the food item. The thermometer also shuts off the unit when done; just in case you get distracted during the cook. Naturally prior models did not have the thermometer and people cooked with the Ninja Smartlid without any problems; but there will be a trial/error process. Also, the OL701 has the auto pressure relief functions. In my opinion the extra money for the OL701 is worth every penny and worth saving up to purchase, it is that good. If you have time, wait for the OL701 to go on sale as by some comments people were able to snag one for around $200. Do not bother witht he OL500, the smaller capacity is not worth it.
@@rossishima Yeah I hope it goes on sale soon! I plan to use it in my bedroom and was looking for a way to cook with the least amount of mess and dishes to wash. I'm also not a cook but I got doctors orders to stop eating out and start cooking healthy foods like chicken, rice, and veggies. Can't be eating out anymore and I have no kitchen I can cook out of. I need a wife! LoL!
@@rossishima So I didn't want to wait for a sale and Amazon offered to make 5 monthly payments of $70 so I went ahead and made the purchase. It will be here on Wednesday! :)
@@buddysteve5543 If you register email they give 10% off. There is also a promo code flag60 for $60 off. I do not know if you can combine coupons, but you can call customer sales as they have some flexibility. If you have a Honey extension, they always have a money back going on with Ninja. But good for you, it will suit you well.
No, non stick is the way to go. Although I am not 100% happy with the Ceramic compared to other non-stick, it does work in making clean up a lot easier. The air fry is at a high temperature and since we are using no oil in air frying, the falling debris will stick to the stainless pan.

I had the 0l501 unit, and the slider broke, Ninja replaced it with the OL701 :). So they have good after-sale service.
Great overview of the Foodi! Should answer most, if not all questions people may have.
Perfect, thank you for the tips

Pressure cooking. I tried using a silicone mat while pressure cooking with the metal rack. Got a burn notice.

Have you tried using the stainless steel pot available on Amazon for this unit?
