Those who disrespect Superman have never even read a Superman comic or seen a good adaptation of him. Growing up, my two biggest exposures to Superman were the first two Christopher Reeve movies (RIP the legend) and the DCAU. (I love George Newbern, but Tim Daly will always be THE Superman voice to me.) It doesn't matter if the first Superman movie didn't show him beating up some stupidly OP menace, what makes that movie so special to me is the fact that someone with all that power was raised by his parents to be a good man and use his abilities for the benefit of others. I miss the more "mundane" acts like saving cats from trees or stopping purse snatchers, especially in an age of big city destroying battles and multidimensional catastrophes. @@VoroAMI DCEU much like Star Wars will never cease to annoy me with just how much untapped potential was there, and how badly they managed to get it all so wrong. I like Man of Steel, but everything else in that franchise was trash, except the Batfleck fight scene in the warehouse. They had so many ways they could have taken things, so many different Cartoons, Animated films, and comics that detail the Justice League and it's formation and they choose the absolute worst way possible of doing it. If I was in charge of DC at the time, I'd have just copied JL:U origins and core members. I know WB and DC wanted to rush their way into the team ups to catch up with Marvel, and the JL:U origins would have been perfect for that, then they could have done stand-alone movies for the individual members, that further establishes their character and allows you to start expanding out the characters/villains. Then you do the Justice League/Injustice League as the next team up. A few more solo movies, and new members getting their own films, and then the next Justice League film being The Thanagarian invasion storyline from the JL:U cartoon, make it into a 2 part film so you can fully explore the idea. The next batch of solo movies follows the repercussions of the invasion on the world and the JL, as everyone tries to pick up the pieces and move on. The last JL team up movie would be Darkseid, or Brainiac. I'd lean more towards Brainiac just because people would constantly compare Darkseid to Thanos where as Brainiac is very different from the both of them. Then I'd end it there, and take a break for a little bit which is what Marvel should have done post End-Game but instead they continued to beat the dead horse
Yessir, yessir, been waiting for this one, Superman is the goat. Whether you like it or not, he is a decade to generational overall talent. The lessons he learns and, in turn, give can not and should not be overlooked. The aura and inspiration he has and could STILL have to this day is absurd. He is the literal definition of the fact that power does not always corrupt. It's what you do with said power that depicts who you are and choose to be.

Great, with all you are talking about with Superman just needing a good movie to get out of a public relations rut, it makes me wish the DC movie universe focused on a bunch of smaller, more flawed heroes, such as Booster Gold, or Guy Gardner, just so that when they bring Superman in, we can see how he acts as a force that makes people try harder to be better on some characters that had only made minor character growth before.

I feel like one thing that has altered the perception of Superman, is the modern idea that everything has to be subversive and edgy to be good. Asoiaf achieved massive success by employing this trick to the fantasy genre, The Boys despite being a mediocre comic, has achieved insane cultural reach just from it's premise, in the modern day we are obsessed with "morally grey" characters where as Superman is the antithesis of that notion. Yes, He's a boy scout, he's the most honest, most down to earth, most helpful and selfless person you could ever imagine, and he has to be, because the moment he stops being that beacon of hope for others, is the day he could turn into a monster, which is exactly what Doomsday reflects, what Superman would be if he didn't have his morals, ethics and code. It's the same way every villain needs to have a sympathetic backstory now, as if you getting bullied back in middle school somehow makes it okay that you're now a globally wanted terrorist being hunted by the most powerful Superheroes in the universe. Sometimes the villain just being evil is better, not everyone needs a tragic backstory to justify their wrongdoing, and even then you can't just justify certain acts of criminality just because someone experienced something bad. About your points with adaptations, Superman always has to have his power scaled down so fights in animation don't last 2 seconds, one of my all time favourite superman moments is from the JL:U cartoon when he faces Darkseid and actually gets to go all out against someone and we finally get to see just how much he truly holds back
I believe it all started because of Injustice. It got so popular, way more popular than anyone expected, that it changed views of Superman. It's also why characters like Omni Man and Homelander have come out into the limelight way more.
Ngl seeing the Starman edits for Superman, made me realize how much I grown to appreciate Superman over the years! When I was younger, I was heavily biased against him. Because of all the powers that he got that he never had before! I still like him tho, I just favor other characters more than him, like Goku for example. Great, with all you are talking about with Superman just needing a good movie to get out of a public relations rut, it makes me wish the DC movie universe focused on a bunch of smaller, more flawed heroes, such as Booster Gold, or Guy Gardner, just so that when they bring Superman in, we can see how he acts as a force that makes people try harder to be better on some characters that had only made minor character growth before.

Even though I'm young, I have grew up with animated movies and shows that portrayed him as a great hero later on seeing snyder destroy him and make him a heartless killer and just later on adaptations making him evil which is just so unfair. I feel like one thing that has altered the perception of Superman, is the modern idea that everything has to be subversive and edgy to be good. Asoiaf achieved massive success by employing this trick to the fantasy genre, The Boys despite being a mediocre comic, has achieved insane cultural reach just from it's premise, in the modern day we are obsessed with "morally grey" characters where as Superman is the antithesis of that notion.
Yes, He's a boy scout, he's the most honest, most down to earth, most helpful and selfless person you could ever imagine, and he has to be, because the moment he stops being that beacon of hope for others, is the day he could turn into a monster, which is exactly what Doomsday reflects, what Superman would be if he didn't have his morals, ethics and code.
It's the same way every villain needs to have a sympathetic backstory now, as if you getting bullied back in middle school somehow makes it okay that you're now a globally wanted terrorist being hunted by the most powerful Superheroes in the universe. Sometimes the villain just being evil is better, not everyone needs a tragic backstory to justify their wrongdoing, and even then you can't just justify certain acts of criminality just because someone experienced something bad.
About your points with adaptations, Superman always has to have his power scaled down so fights in animation don't last 2 seconds, one of my all time favourite superman moments is from the JL:U cartoon when he faces Darkseid and actually gets to go all out against someone and we finally get to see just how much he truly holds back
I believe it all started because of Injustice. It got so popular, way more popular than anyone expected, that it changed views of Superman. It's also why characters like Omni Man and Homelander have come out into the limelight way more.

Ngl seeing the Starman edits for Superman, made me realize how much I grown to appreciate Superman over the years! When I was younger, I was heavily biased against him. Because of all the powers that he got that he never had before! I still like him tho, I just favor other characters more than him, like Goku for example.
