I've been to the areas the game takes place in (namely crater lake) and the map design is spot on! I believe Sony made a huge mistake on not going with a sequel. It sold very well. PC sales we're also massive. Very short sided decision by Sony.
The only thing I don't like is that guns clip into each other onto Deeks back when holstered. It's kinda annoying. Loved every second of everything else tho.

I dunno. I keep seeing SO MANY comments about how much of a hidden gem this game is. So I finally played it on PC. And honestly, I found it super mediocre. The beginning section was interesting, but it quickly devolves in to 'go to next area, help random people, repeat'. The combat is nothing special, its the same 3rd person action shooter mechanics from every other game from the last 10 years. Hordes were fun for a while until you get an LMG and realize every horde is just you kiting them in larger and larger circles while you reload and throw things at them. And the game was literally TWICE as long as it needed to be. You spend so much time with Iron Mike it's infuriating. I actually had to force myself to complete the game, it felt like a chore after the 20ish hour mark. You dont get any new guns or mechanics or upgrades or literally anything. You do the exact same thing for the entire last half of the game. They should have cut 30-40% of the playtime and focused on quality rather than quantity. Which brings me to my main complaint which i simply can not look past. The writing is awful. Which wouldn't be so bad if such a large focus of the game is the 'story'. You spend WAY too much time listening to uninteresting characters spout terrible one liners at each other. Boomer was the only character I actually enjoyed. I literally cant remember anyone else besides him and IRON MIKE because they say his damn name so much lol. The story is so meandering and terribly paced the only forward momentum comes in the first and last sections, the entire middle is just you dicking around with traders and settlements. And Deacon was just boring. He never stops talking. He is always angry or annoyed. Its like they tried to merge Nathan Drake and Joel, but they only took the worst attributes from them and created some ultimate unlikable 'everyman'. Not to mention the fact that he JUST GOES ALONG WITH HIS WIFE BEING ALIVE at the end. Totally unphased. They dont even talk about wtf happened or unpack anything between them. 6/10 at best. At least the game ran well and looked really nice. Bend really needs to hire some better writers though.

As is, she just kinda shows up 3/4 of the way through SURPRISE, NOT DEAD, and now all of sudden it's Deacons job to overthrow the entire army for her or she won't leave? Like wtf Sarah? Maybe just leave? That entire Sarah plot at the end just made me hate her as a character.

I remember constantly checking the in-game clock, and feeling uncomfortable if I had to pass through a tunnel after 4PM. Best video game ever. Being careful to not run out of fuel was awesome too.
Some in between this (the stealth mechanics, the firearm mechanics) and dying light 1 (everything else) would be perfect. To be honest, no game has really capitalised on the zombie obsession of the 2010-2020 decade. Dying Light was the best/most immersive for me. I really didnt like this game when i bought it on release but i went back to it last year and really enjoyed it.

Days Gone is a underrated gem, such a fun game, the story was surprisingly deep, Deacon was a really well defined, likable character, the gameplay, riding around on your motorcycle, the horde mechanics, one of my personal favorite open world games of the last console generation
I'm not a huge zombie fan per se, but I loved playing this game. I was surprised by the amount of story and character interactions the game has. Just don't run out of fuel on your motorbike riding through the forest at night when a zombie horde is chasing you.

It's frustrating that you can't even go to where her "new lab" is in the after game content and "visit" with her like you can other characters. I don't need a cutscene or anything (though Deacon gets one when he reunites with his RINGS but nothing more about the wife). Still, I enjoyed the game overall. Some people thought the main story was too long but since there's not been a positive word on a sequel, I'm glad we got as much as we got!

The game wasn’t perfect but it’s one of the few AAA open world games I cared enough for to finish. It had some great organic moments. I remember crashing in a ditch while a horde sauntered by. I had no petrol and it was intense sneaking passed them. Good times
the shelter at 1:23 is actually a valid way to build a shelter and is something you would build like this, but it depends in what scenario you are, when you are in a forest and how long you planned to be there
Legit remember messing around as a kid one time making some improvised nonsense like this and I was completely amazed when all the pine needles and whatnot were actually keeping the rain out 😂
I just finished the game - it was a real drag early on before hitting its stride story-wise and finally getting decent weapons/bike upgrades about halfway through. The excellent voice acting and story in general kept me engaged, you can tell Bend Studios put a lot of heart into this, and they deserved better considering what they managed to accomplish with such a small team. A refined Days Gone in the form of a sequel would have undoubtedly been something special. Also love games where a Platinum is realistically attainable.

The game is way too long. The horde mechanic is brilliant with high replayability, but its a major slog to get to that point. No multi-player, no co-op, or even the ability to have NPCs to help with the hordes left way too much on the table.
I didn’t play this til like a year after release because i heard nothing, but horror stories. It ended up being one of my favorite games. The story was a little wonky in places, but the gameplay just really did it for me.
Same here. It was included for free in my PS4 and after Googling it I only saw bad reviews and people hating and trash talking it, so I avoided playing it for literal years. I started playing it last week on a whim and I'm having a blast. I expected a terrible game, and instead I got a great game with a few minor issues.

Not just the best Zombie game of all time, but one of my favorite games of all time too. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this game and I have no doubt that a sequel will eventually be made. Maybe not by the same two men who created this game, but a studio, someone, will make a Part 2, it is just to loved for that not to happen.
Truly one of the best games, and even post campaign gameplay there is still plot and adventures to go on. Taking down your first hoarde was a grueling wonderful challenge. 👍🏽

I randomly picked this game for something new to play and now have almost 200 hours into it. My 6 year old daughter loves watching it and will watch the cut scenes like a movie. She knows all the characters names and I have caught her calling her barbies Deacon and Boozer. Cool video. Keep kicking names and taking ass
I absolutely love this game, in large part because the setting means so much to me. I grew up going to Central Oregon all the time to visit my grandparents and cousins. In particular, at one point I found out that Diamond Lake is one of the bases. I've gone there for years, so I was super excited to see a place so dear to me portrayed in game. I crest the mountains, and come down the road and... it's all burned to a crisp. The whole region has been destroyed. That moment felt so real to me, like coming home only to see it all destroyed from an artillery shell. Really made me relate to the characters seeing their home overrun with zombies.

I played his game when it came out and now I completed it again. I am a big fan of zombie genre and days gone zombies are by far my favorite ones. Game offers a compeling story and great combat mechanics regarding zombies. It has great features and whole "biker" vibe is very unique. I really hope they make a sequel since the story just great.

This game was so awesome, great story, great gameplay and graphics but the best part were the Z’s man they could be terrifying sometimes especially if you find a horde out of nowhere. One time I was in a cave and the literally spawned in front of me, I had to take a break after that 😂
Ok I’m glad someone made a post about this game because I actually considered learning out to make videos just for this game. Specifically for one random encounter. There is for one very dark open world part where a sniper tries to hit you from a water tower. I ran off my bike and got up the water tower ladder and dispatched the sniper with a bat. Shooter looked a little young but didn’t have time to think when I heard a woman screaming, charging the tower. Flip to a green rifle and I took her out quick. However there was one more person at the base of the tower yelling at me. I looked down to see a guy in glasses with a baseball bat. His next words literally haunt me to this day. “Son are you ok up there?”
There definitely are some bugs in the game but all the bugs I found just made the game funnier. Bugs like putting a muffler on Deacon's motorcycle muted ALL noise when you were on the bike

Days gone is crazy good i remember i passed everything the map is soo big from desert snow to military area and more and more, story time is just soo god unlocking everything on the way and living in apocalyptic world watching the stars in the night driving by zombies its just so emersive, just beautifully done, very underrated, for me its in the same rank with gta 5 forsure. Never did a game bring such a feeling, destroying huge hordes of zombies and a map bigger then you ever imagined

I’m not a zombie game fan. But huge open world fan. This was amazing. Running out of fuel in the middle of the shit was genuinely worrying.
and its getting dark so you have to be quick because taking on multiple zombies at the beginning of the game was a nightmare 😭

Debris huts are legit survival shelters and easy to assemble.

This game is an underrated gem, so i really hope it gets a well deserved sequel one day, when it released sure it had its problems but people based there entire opinion on the games first 4 hours, sure its a slow burner but after that its 10/10

The game is way too long. The horde mechanic is brilliant with high replayability, but its a major slog to get to that point. No multi-player, no co-op, or even the ability to have NPCs to help with the hordes left way too much on the table.
One of the few games that actually deserves a sequel.

I didn’t play this til like a year after release because i heard nothing, but horror stories. It ended up being one of my favorite games. The story was a little wonky in places, but the gameplay just really did it for me.
Same here. It was included for free in my PS4 and after Googling it I only saw bad reviews and people hating and trash talking it, so I avoided playing it for literal years. I started playing it last week on a whim and I'm having a blast. I expected a terrible game, and instead I got a great game with a few minor issues.

Not just the best Zombie game of all time, but one of my favorite games of all time too. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this game and I have no doubt that a sequel will eventually be made. Maybe not by the same two men who created this game, but a studio, someone, will make a Part 2, it is just to loved for that not to happen.
Truly one of the best games, and even post campaign gameplay there is still plot and adventures to go on. Taking down your first hoarde was a grueling wonderful challenge. 👍🏽

I randomly picked this game for something new to play and now have almost 200 hours into it. My 6 year old daughter loves watching it and will watch the cut scenes like a movie. She knows all the characters names and I have caught her calling her barbies Deacon and Boozer. Cool video. Keep kicking names and taking ass
I absolutely love this game, in large part because the setting means so much to me. I grew up going to Central Oregon all the time to visit my grandparents and cousins. In particular, at one point I found out that Diamond Lake is one of the bases. I've gone there for years, so I was super excited to see a place so dear to me portrayed in game. I crest the mountains, and come down the road and... it's all burned to a crisp. The whole region has been destroyed.
That moment felt so real to me, like coming home only to see it all destroyed from an artillery shell. Really made me relate to the characters seeing their home overrun with zombies.

The thing that got me hydrated was luring Freakers in to marauder camps.
Bringing people together felt so wholesome.

I played his game when it came out and now I completed it again. I am a big fan of zombie genre and days gone zombies are by far my favorite ones. Game offers a compeling story and great combat mechanics regarding zombies. It has great features and whole "biker" vibe is very unique. I really hope they make a sequel since the story just great.

This game was so awesome, great story, great gameplay and graphics but the best part were the Z’s man they could be terrifying sometimes especially if you find a horde out of nowhere. One time I was in a cave and the literally spawned in front of me, I had to take a break after that 😂
I was touched by Willie, and to be honest, it was not that bad. He even gave drinking water so I can stay hydrated. He was such a Legend!

Ok I’m glad someone made a post about this game because I actually considered learning out to make videos just for this game. Specifically for one random encounter. There is for one very dark open world part where a sniper tries to hit you from a water tower. I ran off my bike and got up the water tower ladder and dispatched the sniper with a bat. Shooter looked a little young but didn’t have time to think when I heard a woman screaming, charging the tower. Flip to a green rifle and I took her out quick. However there was one more person at the base of the tower yelling at me. I looked down to see a guy in glasses with a baseball bat. His next words literally haunt me to this day. “Son are you ok up there?”

There definitely are some bugs in the game but all the bugs I found just made the game funnier. Bugs like putting a muffler on Deacon's motorcycle muted ALL noise when you were on the bike

Days gone is crazy good i remember i passed everything the map is soo big from desert snow to military area and more and more, story time is just soo god unlocking everything on the way and living in apocalyptic world watching the stars in the night driving by zombies its just so emersive, just beautifully done, very underrated, for me its in the same rank with gta 5 forsure. Never did a game bring such a feeling, destroying huge hordes of zombies and a map bigger then you ever imagined
