- The Gunlance is the new weapon type of Season 2's Dancing in the Tempest! While it doesn't look as complex at first this weapon will have you scratching your head a bit while you try to figure out its combos! I've been looking forward to this video lol I've been trying out different things with the gunlance and it's a little tricky when you have no idea how to use it. So far I like it not sure I'll play it much but it's a cool concept

I'll definitely still watch the video because your content is incredible. As far as gameplay goes, just Wyrmstake it. If you keep Wyrmstaking, the monster just dies 😅

Here I was thinking about radobaan helmet, basarios chest/boots, diablos waist and banbaro gaunglet and kushala weapon, shelling in previous games had been iirc more about raw though this weapon must be good with slashing too, with driftmelting would get offensive guard 5, guard 3, artillery 3, partbreaker 1, and 3 open slots for more, but gonna reconsider to burst after this vid. Though the comboes are super helpful, nice vid
RIGHT? I WANNA ROCKET TOO! OG is a great tool, but without any defensive techs like the other shield weapons its not really worth it. Plus you'd interrupt BurstFire and Wyrmstake spamming to reproc OG. Gonna do more research to see the most optimal Artillery and Burst set ups!
@@KINGOFCHARMANDERS Would be normally up for experimentation but with every elemental set on dualblades I ran out of the daily material. Gonna be excited for the optimal armor so I'm able to prepare properly :)
Yea, it's not complicated, but getting those combos off it can a bit frustrating, especially trying to inject my wyrmstake for that nice damaging blitz.
Quick question, better for GL Guard build or Artillery build. I ve been using My guard 2 high elem Charge blade set up. What gear do you recommend? Currently trying to get those 2 artillery pieces leveled up from Basarios.

Artillery for sure! Unless your guarding roars, Tzi Flash, or a hail mary you shouldn't be guarding so definitely Artillery!

Currently using the great girros gunlance with Lv5 Par-attack and Lv4 Status sneak-up skill.

I’m curious about the GL and monster parts that need slicing to break?
Errmmm..it’s really hit or miss to be honest. Its melee attacks do slicing damage and shells just do true damage. In order words your better off using a slicing weapon type like dual blades if you want to cut tails.

After gunlance release, is deviljho gunlance include on the s tier or is it only still db & lance deviljho for deviljho weapon tier?

I build with rathian weapon for poison, but I see poison icon come with Wyvern attack only. Normal attack or burst attack did not have poison icon that I am not sure Normal or Burst are able to inflex poison?
Shelling doesn't. Wyrmstake does. The fact that Wyrmstake alone is able to proc that much is nuts along with all the other non shelling attacks from GL.
I just hope Niantic brings in the switch axe. I'm basically stock piling any and all materials for them when they finally come to the game

I've been wondering lately: will they ever add the size differences to the game? I think it would be neat and give us another thing to do. Also, I'm curious about the G/Master Rank, it will be interesting when they finaly add it, though I'm in no rush lol
About the Gunlance, I loved it, wasn't expecting it to be so fun. Now I wait for the next update to see if they add the Hunting Horn.

Btw, it seems that shelling damage is only affected by Artillery, sneak attack, shelling type and weapon grade.
My Rathalos GL at 5.5 does the same shelling damage as my 5.1 deviljho GL, and my 6.5 Bone gunlance does the same amount of damage as my 6.1 azure rath GL. (They all fire long)
My conclusion is that you should not bother upgrading the bone GL past grade 6.1 and instead get the deviljho GL to grade 8 for a free point in artillery (IF you want to play charged shells only)
Oh yeah bone GL for sure not worth it. But Pink Rathain Gunlance is looking like the GOAT!

The highest level artillery we can get from armor is level 3 right? (Basarios chest 2 and legs 1)
I think it’s 4…but with jho lance it’s 5. But I’m sure more artillery pieces will be coming in the future!

Also, does Shell damage scale with anything, except Artillery? Atk boost for example?

Don’t think attack boost works (did the same damage to a small monster with attack boost 1) , however, I tried it with sneak attack and it worked so it might only be damage % ups that increase it.

I heard Focus is good for GL. Any take on that?
Its trash don't do it. Their referring to the wide charged shell style that makes you sit there and spam charge shots, but is horribly misleading as something really good and worth investing into long-term.
You mine as well switch to a bow if your going that route LOL.

Not an advanced one. But more like to add on to this one. This one covers all the advanced tech already with the exception of like damage details etc.
I didn't find putting that in the guide helpful because you are literally just spamming BurstFire, Wyrmstake Shot, and Wyvern's Fire so it's not like you using some super secret tech to do more damage lol.

I'm gonna keep using burst build until I can get both burst and artillery 5 on the same pieces. I dodge more so I can upkeep burst. I'm gonna be using this for a while. Update, burst has 0 effect on gunlance shells but aggressor dodger does. That's and 100% damage boost if you can get aggressor with artillery 5 which you need deviljho gunlance to do
AG isn't worth it though. Your primary damage will be BurstFire and Wyrmstake so AG would just hold you back.
@KINGOFCHARMANDERS Yeah, that's true. Does sneak attack effect the shell damage because I seen that the wyrmstake does apply status as well and I can go for a Para build as sneak atk is part of giros weapon
I noticed if you hold your charger atk and actually move up or down you can aim it which high or low you wanna hit testing on small mob and suddenly discover it, definitely not useful but good to know 😂

Dont use windproof. It will hardly work against Kushala unless its using its flight attacks and even then its not worth the DPS fallout.

I wouldn't worry about getting a great armor set for the gunlance. It does REALLY well without having optimal armor to support it. Level up and progress through the story and try a bunch of different weapons to find which one you like the most! Then go after that weapons full postgame build.

A build is all armor pieces and weapon.
I’m on the same page here.. i totally get that i’m looking for artilery and burst mainly but if there was piece of equipment that we didnt know would fit best later once upgraded? I’ve been playing since only two week and i couldn’t say that i know all of that.
Btw your reply was quite rude and those caps were totally unnecessary to get your point done @kingpfcharmanders he did pay attention and most likely was looking for someone to tell him wich piece of equiment would be best with that weapon without having to look them all and find wich provides artilery and wich aren’t. just makes me sad to play gunlance in this game... Even less mobility (swipe up doesn't forward hop if the game thinks ur close enough), barely any damage except for wyvern stake, added nothing to the kit but made it even harder to manage than in baseline games.
Agreed..I really wanted the Rocket mechanic like I get it but at the same time like you said 🫠
