Who says the dealer or the person selling has to go by comps. There's no rule saying you have to sell a that price if the buyer doesn't like the price just move on its that easy.or maybe talk to the dealer without using the comp game and make a deal.

U know I actually agree with the original comment here. This is a perfect example of why I agree with not going off comps all the time. I was at my LCS like 5-6 months ago and picked up a couple singles and some packs, all football. It was like a pack of 2022 Luminance and 2 or 3 packs of 2022 Elite and 2 or 3 packs of 2022 Score. I pulled a GB Packers Team Lineage QB triple auto #/10 out of Elite. Majkowski, Favre and Rodgers. A month or so later I posted it for sale for like $750. I watched eBay and over the next 2-3 months I would see the same card go up for auction and sell. Then another and another would pop up and sell. I saw 4 sell over that time and the $ amounts went like this: 1st sale-$1,050 / 2nd sale-$250 / 3rd sale-$1,000 / 4th sale-$300. So depending on when I was wanting to sell it and did it at the right time I coulda got like $600-700. Or if I picked the wrong time to sell, I woulda got offers around $200 and under. Perfect example

Here's the way I look at it that I haven't heard many people bring up. Say you buy a card on eBay for cheaper than the going comps, well now your low sale factors into comps and all of a sudden your card is worth less because you bought it for less whereas what if you would have bought it for top price that also factors into comps and maybe it brings the value of all other cards like it up as well. So bottom line when u buy a card if you plan to sell it and you pay bottom dollar well your not doing urself a favor, u get what I'm saying?

Amen regarding sellers repricing their cards at shows to reflect today’s valuations. I am always baffled by how high some prices are (as though it’s March 2021), and how offended some sellers get when you haggle. As though they are trying to sell you a Picasso. It’s a card that can be bought on multiple platforms for less, so be prepared to take a loss on some cards you overpaid (like most of us should be prepared to do so). You free up cash to purchase other cards. I overpaid for a Aaron Rodgers card prior to the season. He and Green Bay end up with a crappy season, so my strategy on Rodgers proves to be incorrect. Why would I want to hang on to the card (if you are in it for profit and not to enhance your personal collection). Sell for a loss instead of having money locked into a card that is on its way down and reinvest in another.

One piece prices are insane right now since cards are hard to get atm. Once they start printing more theyre going to crash like all hype for new card games do. This is my industry I mess with the most and i will always sell into the hype for new games. They always do this. Luckily i find packs at barnes and nobles weekly for $4 a pack after discount. I sold my boxes for $180 that I planned to sell at the shop since my local scene doesnt want to get involved.

Any time new sets or new cards it’s the hype. Rarely the hype doesn’t die. Last week when hoops were released they had some outrageous prices. Cards that cost more than kobe rookies. This week the prices took a dive after more people been posting them on eBay. I’m talking about raw mathurin bennedict for 800 dollars /25.

I like the old days when u looked up the price in the becket price guide for the value . To me settings a price on a card buy what people want to buy it for doesn't tell a real value for it it shows what someone would pay for. Take for sample gold is at 1200 because thats what the market says it's worth not what someone would pay for it or it would be alot lower i think value should be based on condition how hard it is to find and sports how good the player is.

Why would you not offer on some of those overpriced stickers? The Mobley was priced at $105 and you got it for $50. Also the Select numbered Jalen Green that you mentioned was overpriced and you said you wouldn't offer on it but I came from the same guy you bought the Mobley. He came way down to the correct price. The worst they could say is no, and you move on, no big deal.

The discrepancy between buy it now comps and auction comps are mind boggling on eBay right now. Never seen the spread so crazy. Auction card goes for $3 and buy it nows sold for $20-$25. So right now it's best to do buy now unless you just want to give your cards away.

Value on cards our tricky, i buy proven winners vintage from my state. Mostly now on card auto of football ,basketball very low #. Or auto of Movie ,T.V. or Music artist. I feel i bought low now and not willing to give it away value if need to sale of last comp auction. I would rather hold and wait within 10 yrs.or less for a uptick on card value.

Many people talk ‘POP’ count. I look at ration of 10 v9 v 8
That I believe will be why slabbed product since 2020 at least - will be the oversaturated junk wax of the 2020s. Will be nostalgia driven- and who wants a “$10k” rpa 1/1 gem 10 of a QB who never even made a Super Bowl? That’s the difference between modern junk slabbed and junk wax era- they gem 30% if not less vs todays 70% gem rate. And the careers for the junk wax is over. So they are HOFers or not. People wish to gamble on a rookie than buy the guy already a HOF member

Cards are not only based on comps that's what it's last sold for sometimes comps could be 1 week or 2 weeks old. You can go base off that too and the difference how much percentage went up or down. Alot people think a card should be only based on past comps. You can price it however they like it's there card too. That's the thing alot people don't understand in the sports hobby. It can tell you what it actually sold for couple days ago but that is not actual value of the card. Goes up and down just like stock market.

The logic of setting up at a card show to actually sell cards and then pricing them at insane amounts is pretty flawed. While you can price things however you want sometimes you have to take a loss on something you spent to much on.

This is what is exactly wrong with this hobby and why eBay just needs to go to buy it now or best offer on sports cards. Or partner with industry experts to give value or a price on certain cards. I don’t give a crap about base cards. But I recently hit a Justin Herbert explosive case hit from Absolute. Now according to your theory my card should only be $40 bc of recent comps. And who knows how you are looking up recent comps. Bc that $40 card went for $40 bc it was in poor condition and I bet ya card ladder or whatever app people use to check comps don’t read the full listing. They just see $40. It should be $40. Even tho the card consistently sells for $150-$250. But using the pricing well current comps says it’s $40 is just pure crap bc we all know too that if anyone bought the card for $40 that person is just gonna resell it for $150$200. This market and pricing is a complete joke and honestly I don’t know how dealers handle with everyone coming to their table asking for prices on latest comps. Just bc a card sold for $20 in the last 24 hours but sold for $60/75 72 hours ago does not make that card automatically $20
