Got stuck on a steep in the middle of the night. I came You tube and came across this video. After watching this I managed 😂😂😂. Thank you for the detailed video. Clear and straight to the point.
Great to hear! 😁
Without you i wouldn't be knowing how to drive😂i don't wanna lie,i learnt everything from you, what's remaining is to master the steep hill. All the love from South Africa
That's great to hear. Keep practicing and the hills will be easy for you soon. 😁
This is the best hill start video I've seen! Better to see multiple techniques then decide what works best.
Thank you. Glad you liked it. Which way do you prefer?

New to standard, so I'm still feeling it out. Shortly after watching your video, I found out my car has hill assist. That may be the way to go, but I still want to learn each method. My parking brake is set up slightly different (not a hand brake) but I think that could work as well.
sacrificing your transmission for this tutorial. much respect.
You're very welcome
Thank you man, i learned to do a burnout before even learning the proper way i used to floor it and release the clutch so fast 💀
clear and direct to the point, really helps a lot. appreciate it man. thank you.
Thank you 🫶🏾
just failed my first test in an embarrassing fashion because I stalled 3 times on a hill in the exact way you showed in the beginning with the footbrake :) I was very bummed out about it and this Godsent video just gave me my confidence back for the second one. Thank you so much mane
It happens. Good luck on your next one. You got this! 😎
@@ZONDOdriving I passed!!! Thank you sir 🙏🙏
Needed a vid like this getting a manual soon and rolling back or forth into someone was my biggest fear thanks man
Thank you 🙏🏻 Every video always come up in the time right time ❤❤
I live in a very mountainous place so my dad had to teach me this, but he had a hard time😂. Thx for this tip
Lucky your dad can teach you. It's really hard to teach someone this on a hills so well done to your dad! 😁

I have a 96’ Ford F-250 Heavy Duty...I don’t have all the fancy doo-dads of a newer/modern car. This was still SUPER helpful. ❤
Okay bro... This is my life saver... Love you
Thank you so much bro your tips really helped me alot😊
thank you so much , i was trying to do the foot brake technique but kept rolling back i realize now that it was because the clutch was way down and not at the bite point to hold the car , thank you brother .
Glad it helped!
Thank for teaching
This is the best explanation I had. Thank you.
Thank you so much
This has been so helpful. Both the camera and the commentary are on point. Wonderful lesson from the most wonderful teacher!
Thank you so much 🫶🏾
the best tips I have come across!! Thanks
Thank you. Glad you found it useful. 🫶🏾
Thank you so much for this. You explain everything so well and answered all of my questions :)
Glad it was helpful! 🫶🏾
I already learn how to drive manual and all this stuff by experience. It’s good and cool to hear it explain by a good teacher as yourself. Know I feel more secure driving it. Need to work on hillstart with only right foot break, gas and clutch.
Great to hear! A bit of practice and you'll master it.
Top man 👍 never seen more helpful video about this strugle thing well done 👏👏👏
Thank you, glad you found it helpful. 🫶🏾
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I learnt extremely fast from him
Coming up an exit ramp off a freeway during a traffic jam is tricky. Stop and go on the ramp is trying . I usually use the off the brake to gas pedal while lifting off clutch technique and end up gunning the gas so I wont roll back into the car that is on my bumper
Thank you very much sir ! Keep up the awesome work .
Thank you. Will do!! 🫶🏾
Thanks a lot man!

I can’t thank you enough for making this video. I’ve search every video to help me get started. This video is absolutely perfect. It not only demonstrates the proper methods and approach, but also the fails and explanation as to why.
Thank you thank you thank you!
Thank you so much for that. Really appreciate you! 🫶🏾
Seems you are the best driving instructor in youtube ❤ You are better than the channels who have more subs. Thank you!
P. S. - Best part of your videos is you mention exact mistakes beginner learners like I do. That's hell important for someone who wish to improve.
Hi Raj. Thank you so much for your feedback. It's really invaluable when it comes to improving the channel and content in general. We're slowly getting more subs and people like you make it easier so thank you! 🫶🏾
Explained it perfectly, thank you man🫶
Just started driving stick 2017 wrx Subaru so excited but man am I nervous. My father is a great driver but not a great teacher thank you for this video makes me feel way better!
Subaru sounds fun! 🤩 When it comes to teaching, one of the main issues people face is that they forget how difficult it can be to drive a manual because they do it all the time.
Thank you for your video helped me pass today please do keep up the good work
This is amazing and thank you for that. How did you find the test?
Great bro
thanks for the tips I was actually have been using the foot break technique without knowing it when reversing in parking lot to park
Glad it helped 😁

I just need to practice more clutch control n im all set thanks G u the best
You got this!
I really appreciate it brother, was so lost on how to start on a hill without using your handbrake. 🙂
Thank you and glad it helped! 🫶🏾
Thanks. My truck doesn't have hill assist. I found myself using both the parking brake and foot brake methods before, but I was not getting at the biting point correctly consistently. I guess I just need to practice more.
Glad it helped
cheers giggs
Any time 😅
😂😂😂
Thanks ❤
You're welcome 😊
Thanks for the video. I've got a Nissan van with a pull and twist sort of hand brake. I also live in a country with a lot of hills and mountains. I have had some difficulty and doing hill starts on some of the steep hills. My vehicle also does not have an anti-roll back feature. Up til now, I've been doing the balance method, but the vehicle rolls back very quickly and I occasionally stall or squeal the wheels. I've been learning to quickly press the gas, but slowly release the clutch. This has been the best for me so far... only problem is I might roll back a foot or foot and a half. I think I'm going to try the footbrake method by getting the clutch to the bite point (or close to it) before moving my foot from brake to gas... hopefully I'll get this. Thanks for the video as it has been very informative.
Yeah I feel this
❤❤❤❤more video clutch up hill do you need to press the clutch while you are waiting in the traffic
Your explanation saves me why I cant use Clutch, footbrake and gas on a steephill. Now I can save gas for practicing it daily.
Good to hear! 🙌🏾
Cool, I past but got a new car so learning it all again 😅
Congrats. You got this 🦾
This is great.... Thanks alot
Manual Cars are nice👍👍👍👍
My driving instructor had the following technique: he would ask the question ( are you sure you got this now ? ). He then made you place your phone or watch behind the rear wheel. That was the final test 😂
I would bring an old phone to the lesson 😅
Thank you
You're welcome 🫶🏾 Which way is your favourite?
Thank you very much.... Am learning how to drive and I always use the footbrake and I make the same mistakes.
You're welcome. You can use the footbrake as much as you want as long as it's done properly.
NICE socks bro XD, ty much appreciate it.
😅 thank you. Glad you liked them! 🫶🏾
Thank you for this tutorial, I'm having a hard time on steep hill since my car doesn't have a hill climb assist feature. I will try that foot break method and hand break method. what do you recommend for hill climb traffic scenario?
Have a look at this one th-cam.com/video/b6lNn8Eaws0/w-d-xo.html
I have test on 21th step slop I will try that
Good luck Rashid. Let us know how it goes! 😎
😢again i failed

So with the footbrake one, can you hold the car stationary with just the clutch without it rolling back, or do you need a little bit of gas too? (Obvs more gas to get it moving)
It's not so much about adding gas to get it moving, you bring the clutch a little higher to get it moving. A common mistake from learners is thinking that adding more gas will get it moving forward but if your clutch is not at the biting point, the car wont move no matter how much gas you put on. Hope that helps. 👍🏾
hie quick question. for hill start my instructor taught me the handbrake method without using the gas. it by letting the clutch do all the work . Where by i stop and engage the handbrake then bring the clutch to be biting point the without touchich the accelarator i let the handbrake down and the car starts moving forward is it hihly recommended or i have i chances of stalling.
You're more likely to stall that way. Also the car you're learning can probably handle that but another car might not be able to. If you have a lot of weight in the car, clutch only is not that good.
super informational 10/10 thanks for this
❤️ Thank you
Can you go to the bitting point, then move to gas quickly? Does it burn the clutch while waiting to move on..
Yes you can. That's the way most people drive. You won't burn it if you're not at the biting point for too long. Hope that helps. 😁
Hi there great video! have a test at 5 June 1:45pm what test route do you think I might take.
only your examiner knows
Thank you. It's hard to say really. Just make sure you're comfortable with all types of roads. Especially dual carriageways, small narrow roads and large roundabouts. Good luck! 😁
What about heel toe technique ?
Bro how to get the feeling of the biting point?
Aye I've got that same pair of Nikes, one of my favorite pairs!
I love them but some people have questioned them.
Damn really? I think they're the perfect balance between boot & sneaker, pretty comfy too
The handbrake technique is going to work est on my school.
How can we do driving lessons with you? I can’t find any links
If you live in NW London then you can contact me on istagram @drivingtesttips 😀
That copthall hill is the same hill I’m struggling with at the moment. I just don’t know why I can’t find the bite
Practice on a hill that's not so steep and on a quite road. You'll get used to finding the biting point, then go onto more difficult hills. Let me know how it goes!
There is another method too where u press the clutch with one foot and break and rev with the other. We use this all the time in the hills.
The heel and toe method?
Watching all the way From Zimbabwe, on the handbrake method , what happens if I don't use gas?.
Can the car go up , with Clutch release only
Hello and glad to see this is reaching as far as Zim. Theoretically it's possible to do it without the gas, but you're more likely to stall that way. Especially if you have a heavy load in your car or a weak clutch. Are you learning to drive at the moment?
So if I'm using Hill assist, can I bring clutch to bite point before letting go of the footbrake and then go for gas? Also, would this technique burn the clutch?
Yes you can do that. It only burns the clutch if you hold high above the biting point while you're braking or have the gas on for too long. For a short time it's fine and it's how most people drive.
Afri boy check more
What is the techique of knowing that im now at the biting point?,
You will feel the car vibrate slightly.
Does footbrake technique also work on small engine cars like 1.0 or 1.2?
Hi Lucas. The car in the video is a 1.0 petrol. But you're right to ask because it's much easier to stall when using the footbrake technique.
@@ZONDOdrivingnow knowing you use a 1.0, I shouldn’t be complaining about my 1.3 petrol engine car lol
@@twenty3rd218 his Fiesta will be a 1.0 turbo though. my 1.3 NA can't cope with this technique on flat ground, let alone on a hill lol
Do the hill toe technique
I thought hill assist comes off when you add some gas
I’m not sure about other cars, but in most I’ve driven with Hill assist, it comes off when you come off the brake.
I normally do the clutch and brake then gas.. Lo and behold, I rolled back today in my 12 yrs.. Never happened before,
However it's a different car and tryna get used to it
You will get used to it in no time! 😁
random question but where u from? always thought u was somali idk why 😭😭
Full throttle, dump the clutch.
Next video!
Ive had my License since April 2022

That's not a hill use a proper hill say over 10%
This hill is steeper than it looks. There's a 12% hill near me, I might film one there.
