Statfold Barn Railway Summer Steam Spectacular 8th June 2024

- On Saturday the 8th of June 2024 I paid a visit to the Statfold Barn Railway for the summer Enthusiasts' day, this year titled the Summer Spectacular of Steam.
The day started with a heavy downpour of rain but soon brightened up after the sun came out.
The video starts with a ride behind Ryam Sugar number 1 (Davenport) between Statfold Junction and Oak tree before a series of clips of all of the locos in action as well as a handful of clips of the Mease Valley Railway, the miniature line.
To finish I returned to Statfold Junction to video one of the last trains departing the station before finishing off with Garratt K1 heading out of the station area after bringing a train into the station a short while earlier.

Interesting assortment of odd loco's!
It’s the largest collection of ex-industrial narrow gauge locomotives in the UK, mostly brought here by one man (Graham Lee) and all restored by Statfold Engineering) though there were 2 visiting engines this weekend, Sir Tom (Bagnall saddle tank from the Threkeld Mining museum which was piloting Jack Lane the green Quarry Hunslet) and VII (Fowler, maroon side tank, visiting from the Richmond Light Railway and was piloting CSR number 19)
K1 is of course owned by the Ffestiniog Railway and is still on long term loan (until 2029 at present) but is a huge draw when it’s running.
Weirdly it looks as cold as the spring steam up event earlier on this year
It started of raining but the sun came out and the temperature went up very quickly, as I was wearing my leather jacket I got extremely hot, was a good day nether less and it was a change being a member of the public instead of volunteering.
