- A location that I have previously been to, but not some six years ago since 2018 is The Brickworks Museum (otherwise known as the Bursledon Brickworks). Located in Swanwick, Southampton, the Bursledon Brickworks is the last remaining Victorian steam-driven brickworks left in the UK, purportedly the sole surviving Victorian steam-driven brickworks in the UK.
On the final Sunday in October 2024, I went back to The Brickworks Museum for their Autumn Steam Up, their final steam-up of the 2024 season. The first of two videos from the Autumn Steam Up includes the resident full-size traction engines based at the Bursledon Brickworks dating from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, owned by their respective individuals and in the fleet of the South Hants Historic Steam & Engineering Society offering trailer rides, miniature traction engines, a working demonstration of wood (or log) sawing using a rack saw bench dating from around early 1900s powered by a 1948-built Field Marshall Series 2 Mark II Standard-Tread Tractor owned by Robin Lock, the working machinery at The Brickworks Museum in steam, a 1903-built 49-Key Marenghi Fairground Organ owned by Richard Evans playing music throughout the steam up, and a collection of stationary engines during Victorian and Edwardian periods.
