The more times i see this, the more i start to believe this is pure skill. The only luck he had is having the skill ;)

what a save, absolute legend
At the time, when I saw this scene, someone described it as a natural talent, and someone said it was just luck. 2022: Who would think this is luck at this point? He's such a genius driver.

Martin Brundle called this the "Save of the Century," and I have to agree with him whole-heartedly on that. There is no doubt in my mind that race was a difficult one due to the rain, and we saw inevitable crashes, such as Grosjean and Massa. But Verstappen, for him to maintain control and manage to save himself and eventually get to a third-place finish on the podium in that kind of condition, that is absolutely amazing in today's modern F1 era. Like him or hate him, you have to tip your hat (or in some cases, your helmet) to Verstappen

I'd take a bet that if this were Alonso (and by some stretch, Hamilton), these comments would be nothing but praise.
You can't hate this guy! If you hate him, your scared of him becoming an F1 legend!
I bet this guy will be world champion one day, he seems talented
Love him or hate him let's face it this guy will be a legend in the near of future because many of the legendary F1 driver before had an attitude like this man, dare to go against the flow and dare to say no to the regulations that would hurt this sport. And this is what the fans needed, a driver and entertainer who knows very well how to entertain the audience and make the race interesting when regulations that may threaten the success of this sport.

The amount of natural talent and skill required to pull of the kinds of moves and saves Max did in this race is on another level entirely.
How can somebody dislike a video like this? Beyond me.
Just re-watching this after Max's spin during Texas 2023. His control reminded me of this.
