11:31 a note about buying in Amazon. If 2 sellers claim that they are selling the exact same product, and amazon also thinks that it is the exact same product, amazon will not differentiate between them. So product 1 from vendor A and product 1 from vendor B will go into the same "pile". Then, when you buy product 1 from vendor A or B, they will send you product 1 from their closest warehouse, regardless of which vendor it's from. That means that you can end up getting counterfit batteries from the DeWalt store on amazon, despite the fact that the batteries that dewalt sent to amazon are not Counterfit. Because of this, some brands simply chose not to sell on amazon, but that obviously comes with its own disadvantages.
Yes. Co-mingling of various 3rd party seller's items are a big problem at Amazon. Even if you specifically buy "Sold and Shipped by Amazon", You can still get counterfeit of stuff with damaged or opened packaging. Because it's all going in the same bins at the warehouse.
Assuming the black tab around each corners of the battery ports is a 100% definite sign of a fake battery, THEY EVEN SHOW IT ON THE DEWALT PAGE ON AMAZON LOL
The LTT screwdrivers are a great shibboleth for actual professionals. Everyone is shocked at the price, it's a question of whether they're shocked at what good tools cost or shocked to see something with tolerances this tight and materials this good for half what anyone else would charge.
@@superslash7254 You cant be serious, right? These tools are just alibaba garbage relabeled and with a 500% increase in price added. The precision set is the same set as Ifixit sells, same fucking case buth with hinges. Except now you have to buy the driver seperate, lmao , what a fucking joke.
@@DimerNL I have both, and they are not. While I like my iFixIt Manta Ray kit, the precision driver isn't as nice to use. Did I NEED it? No, the iFixit is good enough. I just used this kit last night to take apart my kids broken toy. I have both the LTT kit and Ifixit, and my Ifixit would not work because the screw holes were too deep. The long shank LTT bits make the kit worth the price because no one else has that.

Sometimes they even come with software which will automatically update drivers, bios, and other fun features. It is surprisingly common for manufacturers to have multiple different suppliers, even for the same product, mostly for cost and supply reasons. So there is a very real possibility that the red cells are genuine, although they may be fake.
Someone might have bought a real battery and then filed for a return and sent back a fake one. If the restocker didnt notice they could easily have sold it again.
A better way to determine if the battery is fake would be looking at the PCB and how everything is assembled rather than the battery heatshrink. Usually knockoff stuff cuts as many corners as possible so the design should look different enough
Just a heads up those OEM DeWalt batteries all have that QR code on the top. I learned after buying a couple of fake SD cards on amazon, to never trust deals on amazon.
The answer is yes. It is a tool and a toy. The iFixit precision driver has a few differences. First it comes with 64 bits, several of which are extremely niche even for someone who dissasembles electronics all day. Second, the hex shank on the iFixit bits is much longer than the LTT hex shank; this means that the iFixit bits have a harder time getting into long narrow holes, but the iFixit bits are more durable.

There are also magnets on the back so you can stack the main part on top of the lid if you want to get it out of the way. I'm actually a lot more impressed by the bits and the case than the driver. Don't get me wrong, the driver is good, but aside from the fidget spinner it's just a bit driver. But the bits they make are nice with their high shaft-to-shank ratio, and the case is awesome with the way they did the magnets and the hinge alignment.
I wish somebody made an extended kit of these bits. I've found too many instances where screws are in a deep recess that the driver handle is just too big to fit in.
People sometimes buy fake batteries and then return them to the box store resealed. After buying the real battery and getting a receipt. Then they end up on the shelf as an "unopened return" It is probably even easier to accomplish on Amazon, considering I've bought "used like new" controllers and open the box to find a 12 year old controller from a console they don't even make anymore.
Amazon's binning process can mix counterfeit products with the real thing. So even if you ordered from the Dewalt store on Amazon, fulfilled by Amazon, it still could have been a fake.
100% I feel like the plot was lost a little bit with this product since most of the "features" in this set are things that are realistically gonna make little to no difference to... well.... anyone. Bit storage is a bit weird to me on a precision screwdriver, and I'd prefer a better shape any day of the week. The ceramic bearing is cool, I guess, but I have had zero issues with the spinning on my metal. I fix it one. I would bet LTT's bit quality and consistency will be a bit better than IFixIt's, but I'm not sure how many situations the little bit of extra length will actually be utilized. One thing that I would say is a downgrade, in my opinion, would be the stronger magnet. that may sound crazy. But when your 1 handing the driver and need to get tiny screws off the end of the bit, you end up wishing for a weaker magnet. The one on the IFixIt driver is pretty weak, but I wouldn't want it to be any stronger. Honestly, the biggest upgrade is that lid because of the handle design, magnets, and better desinged dividers. I do wonder how many times that extra bit length actually comes in handy because I've worked on quite a wide range but surprisingly never had an issue. I did see LastBestTool show an example with a milwaukee charger that had screw holds that couldn't fit a precision screwdriver, but it looked deep enough to where the LTT bits still wouldn't help. I usually just see people use those super long impact bits in those situations. But LastBestTool's video was about the klein mod box precision screwdriver, which had 3.5mm bits instead of 4mm, which showed its usefulness, especially because of the amazing design of it. But having a new bit size that doesn't fit anything else I have sounds nightmarish. But the set seemed so innovated and useful that I was gonna bite the bullet and get it, up until I read a comment from someone who contacted klein to get some replacement bits and were told they don't sell them...... So that saved me $50. Maybe I'll still buy it and exclusively use 4mm bits. But I'd have to drill out every... single.... slot.... God klein, why do you do this? You were so close.
@@littlejack59 Totally agree with extra strong magnets for retrieving screws etc, they can be an absolute menace when working in a device with a steel chassis or other magnet attracting parts.

+1 for the great review! LG & Samsung both make great battery cells and both have been known to change cell colors for different model cells. Also: the possibility of getting my batteries mixed up with someone else's is one reason that I use a labelmaker to put a label on my batteries. The other is that I also track their health long term & I do that by the serial number and I make a bigger QR code for it.
I'm a site-super, seeing a mechanic or construction worker that can get a box open without ripping it apart is rare as a t-bone lol Great vid, there's no one I'd rather watch pick this apart!
I think one of the best parts of the precision screwdriver has more to do with the case than the screwdriver itself. The thought that went into where to place all the magnets. You have the magnets on the 4 corners to hold the lid closed, but then there are also 4 more magnets on the bottom of the case so you can take the lid completely off and put it under the bit storage tray and it'll stay there with magnets as well. But the best thing they did with magnets? The fact that they put magnets on the hinge parts to not only stop the lid from freely sliding back and falling off, but they're also exposed at the end so that when you DO slide the lid back and take it off, the magnets attract to the reverse end of the metal pin that slides up into the holes, meaning you have magnets to help make sure everything is lined up before sliding the lid up to lock it in place. SOOOO much attention to the tiniest of details that just make using the case effortless.
That does look like maybe ifix its OEM. Still a nice little kit to throw in a go bag for small stuff. Pair it with his driver which i love abd that's alot of normal fasteners you can go at. Like some others have said, bet that booby trap was picked up by the magnets.
Building a computer from scratch is potentially cheaper but in my experience it’s more pain than it’s worth. Hardware doesn’t always like playing nice with other hardware, with a pre-built rig you don’t have to worry about any of that. Just make sure the computer you buy has some upgrade capacity. Upgrading parts is a lot easier, you can just ask other people who bought the same computer what they use.
That’s what held me back from building one. It’s the little stuff you don’t know you need to know that screws me up. I needed a new computer and I didn’t want to have to wait to iron out all the bugs before I could use it.
Yeah and depending on where you buy it from the markup isn't that bad. Especially considering some companies have really good cable management and sometimes are good at balancing the specs
I only ever watched your shorts for the tools' reviews or crappy handling of tools. Now that I've seen your NES Mario cartridge and drone, I'm gonna stick around a bit more :D
So, in case no one has mentioned it so far, the salmon coloured cells are, from their PN on the cell, LG HE2 units, they are a high-performance cell rated for 20A discharge each, this explains the cell wrapper difference as LG Chem and Samsung use different cell colours. Even if they battery isn't genuine they are still using High quality cells.
When you mention he ceramic bearings, I'd love to see how they hold up being dropped from chest height onto a hard floor. If it doesn't survive then it's a toy, not a tool.
3:33 You don't necessarily need to buy them both. The LTT precision screwdriver is mad in a way that accepts the bits specifically from the iFixIt kits. But iFixIt doesn't have a driver with bit storage in the handle. So if you had their bitset but just wanted the bit compartment, you could just buy the screwdriver without the bits
I dissemble and reassemble hundreds of electronics and computers every month. My first set made by Boxer has been with me since 2007 and my now 4 year old set of hyper tough electronic kit from Walmart both cost less than that and work great
I'm always looking for new tool kits for my many hobbies. Homelabing, Custom PC Building, Firearms, etc. all which require specific bits. I'm glad to hear you like the LTT sets. I've been thinking of buying them to replace my iFixIt set that's lost so many bits it's barely useable now lol
As you mentioned in the description, the cells are LG's HE2. They're good cells. I have no reason to believe that battery to be fake. Having more than one supplier is common. If it were, why would they bother with brand name cells? Why would the internal construction be the same? The PCB looks the same as well. And the color difference is easy to chalk up to batch to batch variance. If I were looking at the battery cases in person, I would pay attention to the mold markings inside and if the markings claim glass fibers I would do the "slicing" test to feel or hear those fibers when cutting/carving the plastic. And just overall compare what the plastic looks like on the inside.
As far as I know most if not all major brands just buy the cheapest cells available that fit the required specs. Probably a lot of lowest bid contracted runs too. I remember a buddy talking about how Milwaukee was using some special red lithium batteries that no else had and I had to break the news that its just marketing BS and use the same cells as everyone else.
Always reminds me of back in the MW2 days I wanted to do a rapidfire mod for my xbox controller but I couldn't for the life of me find a T9 with a security hole anywhere. Ended up getting a turbofire2 at some point after that and it was really fun with the akimbo USPs. I don't believe that use case was unethical on account of the accuracy and ammo limits of the USP especially since I played hardcore so higher potential DPS provided no advantage.
LTT is a little too goofy for me, but I can't fault him for sticking to the energy and brand image that made him so big over the years. But back on topic it is nice to see that they select good tools to make their own, instead of slapping their logo on some stuff from Alibaba and profiting...
They went with Megapro for their driver and even did a small redesign for less back drag. LMG actually wanted a nice product. Then you have JerryRig. Who went with some random factory that also makes atleast the Makita utility knives. Calling it amazing and everything, when they are just generic folding utility knives
DeWalt uses 3 different companies to assemble their batteries. They are encouraged, but not required, to use Samsung batteries. I know this from touring several factories that assemble batteries for pretty much every tool company.
Those drivers are for motherboard standoffs and motherboard screws, etc. It is designed specifically for computer technicians so this kit is just like the iFixIt or Oria kits but a LOT more expensive.
Huh, if I didn’t have the iFixit kit then I would get this one. It has some nice features like the magnetic lid. I know the driver is nicer than the ifixit, but not enough to make me want to buy it.
Seen it loads people buying fake batteries and swapping them on site , or can i borrow this for a min 😅 quick swap , thank you 😅 most people now mark or initial all their batteries.
I think the Intel 14000 series issues have pretty much been solved. It was a bios issue and not a hardware issue. I personally fixed the issue in my bios by doing manual setting so I never had to deal with that problem. I think it was from a Der8auer video where he explained the settings to fix the issue. Something to do with drawing too much power. Like the power draw was basically set to infinite from the factory so chips getting fried. My 14900k has been running like a top for a year now. No issues and no overheating.
@ It was a bios update. You’d know if you did a bios update. The manufacturers fixed it. It’s kind of like the SIG p320 thing. Once you have an issue that is heavily publicized people blame everything on that issue. Regardless if it is real or imagine or has been remedied.
I can tell the driver is both smaller and higher quality than the iFixit driver. Though mine serves me well, I'll keep this kit in mind if I need a replacement. Thank you for the review.
I have both and i honestly like how the ifixit driver feels more but the convenience of the bit storage makes up for that to me. And also the spinny top
While it does fit normal precision bits, I think they made the ltt bits slightly oversized because of how low the tolerances are compared to normal mass produced kits
The 4060ti is amazing!! You just need to make sure you buy the version with more vram… This is a cautionary tale for anyone out there, nvidia doesn’t make it abundantly clear.
Liquid cooled system looks great but has bad longevity if it's not your hobby. Liquid coolers have lifespan of 2-3 years up to 5 years max, so that is basically expensive purchase that will need fixing in a few years. If you don't need that eye candy or milk jug size case just get aircooler version, will survive longer.
Thank you for not adding music to your videos I would say that definitely is a fake battery wrong color no latch like on the other battery and it's dead lol
Silly boy. Amazon doesn't warehouse items by seller. Items are binned by sku. Even if you ordered from the official store, there's no reason to believe its not one of pradeeps alibaba specials since they all go in the same bucket at the warehouse
My only question, comment, concern with these cool little sets is later I find that the bits are either too hard and shatter, or too soft and bend, especially the tiny slotted screw ones, one of the ones you use most often. I've had sets work flawlessly for over a decade (until they disappeared) and other sets I broke on the first day. Give us an update if that happens or not. BTW; wonder if one of your work buddies did the old switcheroo on your legit DeWalt battery pack? That's why I kinda go nuts on mine with a Sharpie whenever I get new ones. Love the content! ✌️
China makes both good and bad cells, and Lithium Ion is still evolving in terms of specific cell chemistry. Buying from a box store is a good idea, so it’s likely that DeWalt changed the source. I’m fine with basic rebuilt stuff like an alternator, on my cars, but I go OEM or to the junkyard depending. Chinese counterfeit OEM parts on eBay look good, but aren’t worth my time.
It's very high quality and has cool magnets. I wouldn't suggest it unless you do lots of electronics work, a way cheaper tool will do the same thing. If you are always working with phones or watches though might as well get something that feels nice 👍

Good review 👍 liked the back story at the start.
Unscrupulous people sometimes swap their dead battery for yours, when your not watching.
Great video. More of this on the future please
That does look like maybe ifix its OEM. Still a nice little kit to throw in a go bag for small stuff. Pair it with his driver which i love abd that's alot of normal fasteners you can go at.
Like some others have said, bet that booby trap was picked up by the magnets.
Funk is just endlessly charismatic for someone like me.
😁👍🏻
Adding this to my xmas wishlist. I like the magnetic case. On a side note the Pittsburgh 34 piece precision set is $7 rn
Good video
I've been watching your videos for years courtesy of TH-cam shorts algorithm. Apparently I'm subscribing now 😂
Thank you for all these tools reviews 👍🏻
It’s my pleasure. I get to buy tools and you guys get my opinion. It’s a win win 😜
You’re great dude! Much more entertaining than them.
Moist Cloth…great saying and can be used in so many situations. Thank you
I dissemble and reassemble hundreds of electronics and computers every month. My first set made by Boxer has been with me since 2007 and my now 4 year old set of hyper tough electronic kit from Walmart both cost less than that and work great
Toy. LTT, has become that best commercial tech channel, I mean everything they do is just an ad for what ever they are paid to shcill.
You're a great guy
I'm always looking for new tool kits for my many hobbies. Homelabing, Custom PC Building, Firearms, etc. all which require specific bits. I'm glad to hear you like the LTT sets. I've been thinking of buying them to replace my iFixIt set that's lost so many bits it's barely useable now lol
Welcome to Funk's Tech Tips!
Love this subtle shot at gamersnexus and those other monotone tech bros lmao, instant naptime.
Mario 3 from the NES was a banger of a game, I didn't know you had good taste in games
If picking parts isn't an issue, you could build the PC in your sleep. A forklift is 100% more complex to put together.
Excellent review.
Nice Ninetendo games.
really happy about it fitting Mary O.
Sweeeeeeeeeet kit. Thanks
Thank you!
LTT is a little too goofy for me, but I can't fault him for sticking to the energy and brand image that made him so big over the years.
But back on topic it is nice to see that they select good tools to make their own, instead of slapping their logo on some stuff from Alibaba and profiting...
I’ve seen a couple channels do that. Kind of a scummy mover IMO
They went with Megapro for their driver and even did a small redesign for less back drag. LMG actually wanted a nice product. Then you have JerryRig. Who went with some random factory that also makes atleast the Makita utility knives. Calling it amazing and everything, when they are just generic folding utility knives
the spinny bit at the end of the screwdriver is there for ease of use not as a toy even though everyone uses it as a toy
DeWalt uses 3 different companies to assemble their batteries. They are encouraged, but not required, to use Samsung batteries.
I know this from touring several factories that assemble batteries for pretty much every tool company.
"DDR4? What am I, a nerd?" Sent me 😂
Those drivers are for motherboard standoffs and motherboard screws, etc. It is designed specifically for computer technicians so this kit is just like the iFixIt or Oria kits but a LOT more expensive.
I've got a small screwdriver set I use for my model train layout works great and it's got a ratchet handle
Huh, if I didn’t have the iFixit kit then I would get this one. It has some nice features like the magnetic lid. I know the driver is nicer than the ifixit, but not enough to make me want to buy it.
You know, if you were wearing your safety sandals you would not have had to remove your jewlry before working with electricity 😂
Seen it loads people buying fake batteries and swapping them on site , or can i borrow this for a min 😅 quick swap , thank you 😅 most people now mark or initial all their batteries.
Yeah was going to say this. Happened to me once😔
@@mattknowsnothing yep, engrave your batteries
Someone will swap out their crappy one for yours...
I head they were working on it. I did do a full update a couple of weeks after I bought this. I might have fixed it without even knowing.
@
It was a bios update.
@That0neDud My iFixit driver came with a full bit kit inside a clamshell case.
Awesomeness!
While it does fit normal precision bits, I think they made the ltt bits slightly oversized because of how low the tolerances are compared to normal mass produced kits
I got the iFixit one coming so I’ll check that 👍🏻
The 4060ti is amazing!! You just need to make sure you buy the version with more vram… This is a cautionary tale for anyone out there, nvidia doesn’t make it abundantly clear.
Surprised you didn't mark the bad battery with the Canadian mark of disapproval. NFG
That box put up a fight lol
It had a little bite to it 😁
Linus is a fool who has dropped and wrecked more hardware than a forklift operator hired at Pepsi
just make a shirt that says, "So yeah, there ya go"
Thank you for not adding music to your videos
I would say that definitely is a fake battery wrong color no latch like on the other battery and it's dead lol
Any Robertson bits in there tho?🤔
Yes sir! 0, 1 and 2. I had to check. It would be funny if a bit set sold by a Canadian didn’t come with them 😜
Silly boy. Amazon doesn't warehouse items by seller. Items are binned by sku. Even if you ordered from the official store, there's no reason to believe its not one of pradeeps alibaba specials since they all go in the same bucket at the warehouse
For a video editing rig, I would have gone with a DDR5 compatible Ryzen 7 or 9 CPU and motherboard, with the same RAM, and an Intel ARC GPU.
I’m leaning towards that. I’ve worked with a couple of guys that use DeWalt and it’s possible they got mixed up.
I like to build scale models. That precision driver kit would work perfect. So I would say yeah definately a toy.
Final Rating: i think i like it/10
I wisah that the bit kit was magnetic to better hold all the small bits in place
Warthunder on steam for your computer wold be cool
I'd love a "there ya go" video of you figuring out that RGB lol
It would take me 3 hours to edit out all the bad words 😜
Yes and...?
Nah just giving you shit. Love all your content.
Walmart kit works just fine too. But sure. If i fly to mars i get this to match the planet surface.
I didn't believe you were a nerd at all until you pulled out the old Super Mario 3 cartridge.
Then I knew.
He's dropped hints here and there, but yeah
I’m a big nerd. You should see me on my electric skateboard 😎👍🏻
Motherboard standoffs need a driver as well =)
It's very high quality and has cool magnets. I wouldn't suggest it unless you do lots of electronics work, a way cheaper tool will do the same thing. If you are always working with phones or watches though might as well get something that feels nice 👍
DDR4 IS for nerds!
Samsung has never made orange batteries. They have always been green and blue.
Sold out. Bummer
Any driver that doesn't store all the bits you'll ever need in the handle can gfy.
What watch are you wearing these days? The couple infocus angles of it make it look maybe like a seiko 5?
Anything by LTT is a no-go for me. I rather pay more for anything by anyone at this point, than support that pos in any way, shape or form.
