best kits, best balls, best crowds! honest players (look at the non appeals after penalty decisions)...look at football now, and cry!

Wait...are you suggesting that football matches across the land and across the divisions are somehow pre-determined like professional wrestling matches.
      You're mental.

Oh what horse-shit. Crowds were full of racists, hooligans and thugs. Pitches were like ploughed fields, stadiums were falling about. Players cheated, dived and as a bonus kicked lumps out of each other - remember the Leeds team of the 70s and 80s?. Also if you actually watch full matches from the mid 80s the football is almost all terrible long-ball-up-to-the-big name shite.
Also players were interested in money such as they are not - its RIGHT HERE IN THE VIDEO where a players talks about leaving a club to get higher wages abroad. The only reason more british players didnt play abroad, is most of them simply weren't good enough. The few that were got the hell out of the UK as soon as they good.

I totally agree. What's more you could turn up on the day, pay at the turnstiles and stand with your mates. That's right stand with your mates. You also had a game where players were allowed to tackle it hadn't been banned yet. It certainly seems like it is now. You had atmosphere in the grounds as well plus they weren't soulless boxes in the middle of nowhere either. Give me 80's football any day of the week.

@@Jayfive276 Double horse shit!! If you seriously think football is better today you clearly weren't around to watch football in the 70's/80's? & regarding hooliganism/racism etc Admittedly, trouble was there if you wanted it but most of the time it could be avoided, it was blown out of proportion via the media.
Footballers today are thick characterless wankers! strutting around like pop stars with their stupid hair cuts, ridiculous wages and their pathetic 'rehearsed' goal celebrations.
There's more atmosphere on the fucking moon than a premier league football stadium these days & at what cost?! 40/50 quid a throw to sit in some soulless applaud arena?!
i'd rather stick my knackers in a vice than pay to watch some greedy foreign cunt doing a stupid dance whenever he scores a goal.
As for cheating and diving, it's become an artform today.
you couldn't drag me to a match for free these days, not interested.
Football today is a gentrified pile of shit!

To all those people saying “football was way better back in the old days etc etc”, you may be remembering the past through rose tinted glasses. Yes, there were probably more characters back in the day, but the overall standard of football was abysmal compared to the present day. Pitches looked like they’d been ploughed and the stadiums were full of hooligans shouting racist abuse. As a kid in the 80’s watching games, I remember hearing almost constant foul language and abuse throughout the game. Sometimes we need to put sentimentality aside and view the situation objectively. Obviously we miss the 80’s because we were younger back then, but things weren’t necessarily better in the “good old days”.

    • @trippy2johno280
      @trippy2johno280 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Rose tinted glasses?! whatever! i've put my sentimentality to one side, gave it some thought & here's my response.
you can keep your modern day football with its gentrified, soulless applaud arenas & extortionate ticket prices,
you can also keep your cheating, diving, modern day footballers with their silly haircuts, pop star tattoos & obscene wages.
you can keep your sky sports, sponsored by Ronald MaC fucking Donald, pay per view gentrified crap.
football is so pathetic nowadays weve got to the stage where we have a tantrum & turn it into a national drama because a bunch of backward brain dead eastern Europeans boo a few England black players?!! it's nothing new?! so why all the drama queen antics from the media?!
You can stick modern day football where the sun don't shine!
