TRIP REPORT | 6h+ Flight on an A321! | New York to San Francisco | JetBlue Airbus A321

- JetBlue Trip Report flying from New York to San Francisco onboard one of the new JetBlue A321Neo on a nice early-spring morning in the United States.
A very comfortable flight from New York to San Francisco onboard the JetBlue A321 Mint. The flight was almost empty, I would say no more than 30-40 passengers, so we all got 3 seats for us, which made this 6h+ flight really easy and comfortable.
One of the best parts was the amazing takeoff from New York JFK. Just after departure, we flew almost parallel to Manhattan so we could see all the amazing New York Skyline. Just after that, we could even spot the Liberty Statue! It was amazing. Some of the best views I've ever seen onboard a plane.
This was my first time crossing the United States from one coast to the other one, and I can say that it really surprised me. It was amazing to see so many different landscapes. (Don't miss the Moab desert views! OMG!). I hope I will be able to transmit that to you in this Trip Report. We flew over 11 states so there were plenty of places to see! The final approach over San José and San Francisco Bay was the perfect end for a really beautiful flight!
The catering service is quite poor in the JetBlue economy class (however, much better than in almost any other airline that operates this route). The crew offers 2 complimentary drinks and several snacks. The bad side is that the snacks are just chips, crackers, cookies... The good side is that you can take as many as you want. All are included in the ticket price. There is also an option of purchasing something more elaborated (nothing warm) but I didn't consider it was worth the price.
Based on my experience to date, USA airports are quite ugly (some of them, really ugly) if we compare them to the new European or the Middle East ones. Today we flew from Terminal 5 of New York JFK. It was not the exception. Some others will say that, at least, they don't look like malls. Maybe it is just me that I am not used to them yet. That can only be achieved by traveling more to the US! However, I found Terminal 5 really easy to navigate, which I guess is the most important thing to the average passenger. On the opposite side was San Francisco Terminal 1. It looks completely renewed and updated. That's what every airport should aim to look like! A really nice one!

Wow! An almost long haul flight with a A321. But the cabin is really nice with the sky bar.
The plane spotting and other airport apron / tarmac views were amazing. So many things to see, including the colorful liveries, especially the tails.

Mmm to be honest, this was the exception in all the US flights I took recently. They are almost all fully booked and thw airports are extremely crowded 😎✈️

I don't know the number of based planes in JFK from Jetblue. This one is very good, like all your trip reports and it's always great to have the English subtitles. Nice to know that there will come more US flights. The service on this flight is really good, seems to be better to fly with american airlines than europeans. The landscapes and especially the Rocky Mountains are great.

Wheather or not the MD11 is the prettiest plane, I don't know. But it is very pretty! I thought all domestic flights from NYC were from La Guardia and international airtravel from JFK. But appearantly I was wrong.... Great video!

I was quite good surprised by JetBlue. I didn't know exactly what to expect... but the flight was very comfortable... probably helped by thr fact that plane was almost empty... but hey, the experience was good :D

Lucas thanks.I always liked JetBlue. In Brazil we have Azul, that was founded by the same guy ( he was born in Brazil by chance)and has the same service...today I will fly on a Azul A320 neo ( they have a fleet of 160 planes)

I've flown JetBlue to Florida many times and have been quite satisfied. For a 6-hour flight I would have expected more food offerings than just the standard snacks they serve on shorter flights.
No free meals anywhere on mainland domestic flights, but they do sell food
I was expecting somethibg different... but at least you won't be hungry durind the flight. The food quality is trash... but somethibg I guess...

Thanks for your enroute location descriptions! Since this was a early AM flight, were you not able to purchase a hot meal? I am sure all those snacks cost more than a meal plus not as healthy, so I am not sure why snacks are the thing??? A great video!!!!

Why did they do an engine start at the gate?
What was the reason to start engine on stand ? Love how you hear the warning in the cockpit over the pa as he's talking lol
The only reason that comes to my mind is that we had the APU inoperative. On arrival we waited until the Ground Power was connected to the plane to shut down the left engine. That confirms APU inop.
What you heard on the stand was not the engine being started,
They don't do that until the the plane has been pushed back
