Eventually you may want to search for a replacement dial that fits your model

How old is your dryer? It may be time to replace it or you will have to replace the whole front panel
Know is broke off with nothing to grab. Can I just run a wire from power to ground wire side after removing the offset gear that connects one side to the other?
Whoa. I'm not sure what you referring to because I never took these apart. Did you try buying a new knob?
I was thinking of pliers which might work too. Pliers do work to pull the washer dial out to start the washer because the the plastic on the inside of the dial is now completly broken and i still need to turn the dial to the correct setting and the pull out to start.However the setting to choose is on the front of the broken dial and not on the washing machine. Washing machine old and no new parts available but the washer still works good.

Hey the “on” button for me broke like this and the previous tenant did not order a new one and wore out the plastic naked part, do you know how to fix those?????
Usually those are push button. Did you try just pushing it down with a glove?
@@Jay_Rule hmmm, after some research I did. The whole dryer timer plastic shaft was wore out by the wrench,( the previous tenant was using your trick as permanent fix but now there’s nothing left for the wrench to grab)
I wonder if there’s a way to turn it without the shaft cuz this is the on button and laundry is not waiting so we’ll😢
@@millyhuang2124 You will most likely have to search for your dryer model number to search for the replacement part for the knob.

@@robert907 oh geez! Did some research I think I’ll just have to replace the entire dryer timer and then buy a new knob too :/
On most whirlpool dryers the knob is fine, but the plastic shaft into the timer with a metal rod inside the plastic shaft twists off. Try epoxy all over the metal.rod before you slude ir vack into the twusted off plastic shaft. Otherwise about $55 for a new timer.

You could also just pull a knob off one of the other one that you are not using..easy peasy. We did that for 2 years but now think the metal part is striped

Thank you for this. We were wracking our brains as to why our knob wouldn't turn right on the cycle area. Turns out it seems stripped on the inside and we needed a replacement. And with what you said, we know we don't use the Buzzer knob and I easily switched the two out. Instant temporary fix until I can buy a new knob. (But first, I gotta get the model number to make sure I'm getting the right one.) And my clothing is drying again... And it's actually heating up right! Thanks a million!
This same thing happened to me and my hubby & kids wore down the metal dial with so much use of pliers. 🙄😑

Buy a replacement knob from Amazon and ensure it fits your machine by checking on the dryer brand and model
@@Jay_Rule I waited to get a knob and I kept using the wrench, and I broke the little stick it connects to. 🤦♀️ is there anyway to rig it ? I'm trying to wash clothes for my kids😭
