Small monitors like ackies and timor monitors are so underrated. They really are great practice for the big ones too. They still act like a monitor but they dont get so huge that they become overwhelming to care for. They may still bite but atleast it wont take your fingers off like a croc monitor.

Love seeing all these monitors, and those outdoor enclosures look great, will be keeping my eye out for suitable tubs to build something similar
Personally I think ridgetails should be everybit as popular as beardies!

I like the video and I like the concept. I do however wish that there were more specifications on the names (common names), if they are captive bread, and if they are available in most countries.

Thank you for this video really mate. I've been wanting to know about all the smaller species because these are the ones I'm aiming to keep and hopefully one day breed. I would have to say the tree monitors, ackies and kimbos are my fav right now. Gillens and short tails close behind.

Nice collection of small monitors mate! I enjoyed the outdoor setups too.
I'd like to say regarding the Rusty's that I don't think there's necessarily a demand issue with them. I think it's more of a licensing issue. Given Vic has them prohibited and NSW only granted a handful of licenses for them a lot of people are left unable to buy them (myself frustratingly included!). Hopefully when the licensing let's up more will be widespread as they're a phenomenal species!

  • @ojh7025

Your Content/Set up?Knowledge & Attitude are a true inspiration to a Curmudgeonly Pommy Bahhstard such as myself as my wife & I Run our own tiny (self-funded) Reptile/Coldbloods rescue & re-homing facility & as such we are often called upon to rescue, rehabilitate & in MOST cases re-home a fairly diverse range of the "Smaller" varanids (Ackies, Green tree, Kimberly Rock etc) as well as the more "usual" Aussie Reps (Beardies, Blue tongues Childrens/Spotted/Carpet pythons etc) ALL of which i absolutely LOVE working with & whenever we get the chance to educate (RE-educate) folk ontheir care needs, APPROPRIATE housing/husbandry & generally spread the word on just how truly Marvellous each & every 1 of them actually are to be around & how utterly privileged we are to have these fine creatures within our hobby!!!
Of All of the Antipodean Critters that we have taken in/rehabilitated/re-homed over the years only 3 of which (A male Hi yellow M. Chenyii JCP, A male V. Timorensis & a Beardie.....ALL of the Sub-Genus "NUTTY AS A FRUITCAKEII")& therefore "Unrehomable" ergo they all live with us as integral parts of our OWN collection (which of course we aint complaining ) & whilst over time , our efforts to tame um have been largely successful, they ALL STILL CAN (& often DO) keep us guessing/on our toes!??! Now i would dearly love to attempt to Breed a pair of TIMORS (with our existing male as SIRE) what TIPS, TRICKS, GENERAL KNOWLEDGE &/or EXPERTISE can you impart/throw my way???
Peace & Thanks in advance for any advice
    Karl...
