My favorite lizards are the dwarf species monitors ,any new information is always welcome ,I have had Timors, Freckled,Green Tree ,Yellow , Kimberly. etc. currently have a new hatchling from a breeder in San Pedro California, a Kimberly Rock Monitor (my favorite) its true that American breeders have raised dwarf monitor breeding to a whole new level and have been very successful thus far. thank you for your informative video . Cheers from Southern California.!
It's certainly worse than in many other countries because they refused to face the problem on the beginning but we'll get through this, ad we'll remember who drove us to this situation
Hi Pete, I live in the states and am totally mesmerized by these monitors!!! Do you know if they are available in the states? Any additional tips and tricks on how to care for them? I’m seriously contemplating acquiring a couple
What a stunning little devil. I love big monitors, but something about dwarf monitors just pulls me in. I think it's their unique personality. They aren't like any other lizard I can think of. Most dwarf animals are unique, but not like dwarf monitors. Great video 👍👍
Awesome! As soon as the quarantine lifts and work goes back to normal I need to setup an enclosure for these guys. Store near me surprisingly has one available, not sure how long that's gonna last. Still have to do a new gilleni enclosure too, so I have some work to do
Great vid, always enjoy seeing your setup for keeping herps. My youngest lad has his heart set on a pair of monitors, but despite suggesting a number of potential options including the primordius he is dead set on Brevicaidas. The only problem is they seem to be a bit like chooks teeth.
@@CrittaCam 😂 I'm in Qld mate, even if they were on a restricted RWL we could have a pair, just wouldn't be able to breed them. Qld regulations range from ridiculous to draconian.
Great video, I love watching all your content. I would love to know between Primordius and Gilleni, which do you prefer from a keeper’s perspective? Keep up the amazing work!
Awesome video Peter! Absolute coincidence as I was watching your much older video on your dwarf monitors earlier today just to get another glimpse of the primordius, its as if you knew. I know you keep these guys in pairs, is that species preference or for breeding purposes for yourself (or perhaps both)? Just wondering how they are in groups, do they fare as well as their larger acanthurus cousins?
Awesome
thanks Steve
Awesome animals
Good video keep them coming.

Any tips on sexing this species? Similar to other monitors?

Very cool
Hey what store was that? I’m interested in getting some and would love to call and see when they have availability
I wish we could get more Aussie reptiles in the US
they are hard to come by over there
How large do they get
Always wanted some of these guys, can never get my hands on them here in QLD!
They can be hard to find
Hey pete just asking what substrate you are using because it doesn’t look like the regular desert sand you get at the shop !
i believe its the URS brand

more like Unicorns tears, depending on the state they may have higher licence requirements too

Both!
How much does these monitors cost in captivity?
I use nest boxes with good results..
sure makes it easier Scott
These look amazing! I’m in love with all the dwarf species! How do I get my hands on some? Anyone know any Facebook breeders or anything?
Gday Pete, great vid. I love small monitors. What lights and how did you hang them?
The lights are a exo terra brand GU10, they are hanging using a zip tie
Is the care for Varanus storri similar? Is it alright to keep a pair year around?
Yes it is similar and yes they can be housed together all year round
Hi Peter love your videos, i think it would be awesome if you did a collaboration with Nick over at Wicked Wildlife. Keep up the great work
That would be cool!
Hey, I’ve got a 48 by 24 by 24 just sitting around. You think I can hold two or maybe three in there?
Can you talk more about brevicauda ? my favorite species
see what i can do
@@CrittaCam for sure lookingward for a GUIDE ;)
How would someone get these in the usa
how much would one be if I wanted to buy? for a Male baby

they do well in a group as long as there is multiple hot spots
Do you know anyone who breeds in nsw and where I could find them
not really, try some of the reptile sales pages
What monitor species do you think is the most intelligent?
hard to say edward they all shows signs of higher intelligence then what we give reptiles credit for
Where can I find one? Lol
They can be difficult to track down
@@CrittaCam I figured! Lol
Can you please stop put up things that I won’t . Lol
SORRY! not sorry
