    Beautiful singles; with the original sleeves no less. Fantastic Charity shop finds. I like the record cases on your shelve. The Palmer Jones title is exceptional. Cheers!

      Hi, Mark. It's hard to find any records at all in charity shops in the UK these days, so these were great finds. The cardboard boxes behind me are also full of 45s.... Thanks for dropping by. Cheers. Alan

    Nice selection of finds Alan. Constantly amazed at what you find in charity shops, but it obviously helps if you've got a good eye for, and knowledge of, what you're looking at - which you obviously have.

      Thanks, Pete. I would be lying if I knew about absolutely everything I find, but occasionally I take a good educated guess, and it normally pays off.

    Thank you Alan, singles like these are as good as chicken soup when you're feeling under the weather! I saw Wonderwheel perform on the Dick Cavett show, with George Harrison on guitar. I listened to ''Love And Beauty'', the Mellotron has that classic Moody Blues sound but the track as a whole reminds me of The Partridge Family. The Wand lettering looks like it was stolen from one of my schoolboy notebooks, filled with doodles.

      @statictraveller  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ah, chicken soup. 🐔 Hopefully, you will feel better soon, Michael. Love and Beauty is a catchy little number, though the flip is probably the better of the two. My brother and I also had notebooks covered with that kind of writing all over them. Yes, filled with cartoons and doodles, in-jokes, and teenage silliness. The good old days.

    Hi Alan, This video is starting off to be very tasty. Wand sounds very interesting, and I never heard of that Moody Blues single, wow gotta listen to that. They did a 60's Coca Cola radio spot, ever hear that? Man the 45s are just pouring in. Wow! I have the Steel Mill G.E.G. album as a 1996 UK reissue on Essex. It cost me $40.00 US, it's an awesome LP. Hard to believe those 45s were in a thrift store. US thrift stores have dried up for records, they are few and far in between as they say. Gonna watch your newest 45s showing. Ron

    • @statictraveller
      @statictraveller  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Ron. I watched your video earlier - there were some tasty 45s in that one, too! The Wand and Moody Blues would be right up your street. I haven't heard their radio spot, but will definitely check it out.
      I got VERY lucky with these. 45s are drying up big time here. I haven't found any in a couple of months. In fact, all vinyl in charity shops has almost disappeared. Some local shops haven't had a donation in over 6 months! One hasn't had any in over a year! All the others get the usual rubbish and then overprice it wildly. People are holding on to them or selling them. The trend for vinyl in this country is off the charts. Kids and young people are buying them, even pensioners are buying turntables again. Prices are through the roof.
      All this being said, I have included a link to my first of these finds videos as it has some killer rare promos of 60s psych, pop psych and rock and roll. I walked in to a shop just after someone had left a few hundred singles. They were definitely part of a small local DJ"s collection. It will probably never happen again and was a real one off score. They sold me a bag of about 150 for £30! Just like the good old days.... pth-cam.com/video/QunOriHFE54/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kQBSvkWGvbJfbLN-

    Hi Alan. I've never even heard of 'Love And Beauty' by the Moody Blues. I'll have to give it a listen on TH-cam. You do a great job at selling the b-side too ... 'Point Me At The Sky' is a real find. I agree; it should have been on 'Relics' ... The Del-Tones is a lovely find too.

    Some great finds there Alan. Really weird because I went in the local charity shop after watching your video only to find.....Ella Washington 'Doing The Best I Can' which is a B side of Sweeter and Sweeter. The B side is a corker. I think both of them are on her debut album. I had never heard of her. You are spot on, the production is incredible. Just going to listen to her album now as I cook tea. Hope you are feeling better. Cheers, Steve.

    Hi Alan, I have been trying to not fall into the rabbit hole of 45 singles, but I think the descent is starting. That Floyd video is wonderful. I had never seen it before, and really appreciated that reference. Perhaps Ella Washington is something I can find on the frozen American tundra. Looking forward to more classical as well. Bonkers finds as usual Alan, amazing finds.. My charity shop results continue to be zero. You're absolutely right about Point Me At The Sky, so good and should have been on Relics. I wish the relevant parties who deal with the Pink Floyd catalogue would put out an LP with the first five 45s a+b sides plus bonus tracks Scream Thy Last Scream/Vegetable Man. What a RSD comp that would be instead of all this RSD nonsense that gets released. Know anyone involved with Floyd that I can propose this novel idea to Alan? 😄. Cheers Nige

      Jimmy played on the B side of The Elf, 'Turn Into Earth'. It was released just a month after the version on The Yardbird's Roger The Engineer and gives it a much more trippy feel.

    You really have the eye and knowledge for singles because anyone can grab albums up cheaply (I do) but 7"s you can kinda sniff them out a bit but you know what's what is an entirely different ball game. It's not just about the value too. It's the music. Plain and simple. I do myself a slight disservice. Would be interesting to see 100 singles for instance and the VC valuation/impression of them being any good. I started maybe picking up what interests me only in the last decade before that I ignored them for the best part. classical next 👍

    • @statictraveller
      @statictraveller  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In some ways, I prefer singles to albums. I love coming across a box, especially if they haven't got sleeves- then you know they're old and likely to have some gems among them.
      Most VC people don't collect them for one reason or another. If I keep showing them, maybe some might get inspired: though most probably switch off early!
      Yes, classical finds next, unless P and D have their say in the matter...

    Hi Alan, Nevr heard of most of these, lots to listen to on the TH-cam. I think you were a truffle hunter in a previous life - able to sniff out a gem from miles away. Never heard of that Moodies single before, I love their early psych albums. Don't have that Floyd one either, early tracks post Syd. Northern Soul to me is like garlic for a Vampire - stay away from it, too expensive!

      @statictraveller  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would love to be a truffle hunter in THIS life: ker-ching! I think these discs all have merit and contain some really classic tracks. Yes, Northern Soul is ridiculously expensive. I actually found a single for 49p a couple of months back in Oxfam. Very rare they overlook something, but I sold it for £175. It was on eBay as a buy it now for about 20 minutes... I would normally keep them, but sometimes a track is just a bit average to my ear and the idea of keeping it because it was fairly rare was over ruled by the fact that it was unlikely I would ever play it. The guy who bought it though was extremely happy with it. (I sold it for about £100 less than the going rate).

      @@statictraveller Yeah, I don't know if truffles can be found in the UK? Worth a try 😀I'm now selling some stuff I have duplicates of or never play anymore.
