This ones a doozy, let me know if you have any suggestions for how I could have patterned her shorts in particular a little better there’s still not something quite right about them.
And comment if youd be interested in a digital pattern version of the upcoming Kimono, because I did make a digital pattern for that!

Mihoyo has a lot of characters with split hair! It may seem strange at first but it’s actually a smart game design, since whilst you play the game 90% of the time you’re looking at the back of the character. Mihoyo doesn’t want the hair to cover the design on the back, therefore the hair is split

I've always assumed it was to easily create the physics needed to get that flowy motion. If you think about it, characters with trenchcoats or long pieces of fabirc going below their waistline always have a split.

@Sarah Spaceman Yesss same here! I actually don't know the first thing about sewing or making cosplay props, but I DO love watching people making their craft 😂 I've watched a bunch of videos but NONE have gone into as much detail as yours, I can see how helpful your videos would be for others and I'm sure they appreciate it!!! As for me, I really really liked how many diagrams and animations you took the time to include :') the gif showing how your sewing machine is supposed to work?! FASCINATING to me! 😂❤️

“we make cosplay to fit our body, we don’t make our bodies fit our cosplay” this really is such a helpful advice. i struggle with body dysmorphia and one of my ways to escape it is through cosplay but i often discourage myself from cosplaying certain characters because of how i think my body would look in them. but i can make the cosplay to fit me how i want it to fit!! i don’t have to make myself miserable!! thank you sarah ❤ can’t wait to see you at holmat 2023!🎉

Just a tip you probably already know and might’ve over corrected for: usually when there’s fabric bunching around the crotch area, it’s because there’s too much fabric and you might need to adjust the inseam. In-house Patterns Studio made a great tutorial on her blog. Overall, this is so beautiful! Thanks for teaching me about the couching stitch. I had never heard of it before!

The comment about making a cosplay fit your body instead of the other way around is very helpful! I want to cosplay Catra from She-Ra, cause she's wonderful, but she wears such tight-fitting clothing and I'm really not that comfortable doing that, but I might just make it a lot more structured and with thicker fabric, still fitted but not so tight. I have no experience with sewing or handicraft, but this was very enjoyable to watch; No clue how I ended up here or if I'll ever make use of this knowledge, but well done! 🤣

Im not like a big gamer (i do play merge gardens and pokemon (mostly go)) but omg i want to cosplay now!! I started learning how to use a sewing machine and that whole tape and wrap method to make a pattern is perfect! I was thinking of using muslin against my body to draft an underwear and bra pattern but i think im going to use your method instead! And then you said the best thing EVER "we make cosplay to fit our bodies not fit our bodies to cosplay." Best thing ive heard in so long ❤️❤️❤️

I’ve always had a na o for sewing by hand and this Christmas I finally got a sewing machine, and I was wondering if you could ever do a tutorial on how to use one!

I tried to draft shorts with muslin from a pair of no pile fleece on one side maybe just printed cotton poly blend on the outside idk what sort of fabric that is tbh.. anyway the muslin looked like a diaper too so I totally feel for you 😂 i think i need one of your famous "over-explanations" on how to connect the bottom crotch area seams to finish the bottom of the shorts basically.. cause i seem to only do 1 seam across the bottom and it takes care of everything at once but turns out diaper looking especially because my muslin is like unbleached white colored 😂😂😂😂
