I made my first ever hand-sewn cosplay 2 years ago and my mom thought I was crazy for even attempting it as I hadn't sewn since preschool, but through sheer will, a desire to make it, and a lot of very helpful online tutorials I did end up with something I was really really proud of and it sparked an interest to make more cosplays!
Anyone wanting to use printing for their cosplay: She is using speedy carve, which is different than linoleum. It is easier to use as it is softer and probably better for printing on fabric. Also, they do in fact make ink for this. Find “block printing ink” for fabric. Speedball has “Fabric Block printing ink.” To properly get ink on your “brayer” (the roller), get a pane of glass like a picture frame glass (it does need to be a fairly large piece of glass for most prints, and if the edges are sharp, cover them with masking tape). This glass is where you will be putting your ink down and rolling it out. Use a ink knife to create a line of ink and roll the ink out. Look up how to coat a brayer with ink for block printing tutorials to learn how to know when you have just the right amount of ink prepared. Speedball ink is easy to wash off the glass. Just use the ink knife to scrape away excess and you can use paper towel and water to remove the rest.
In high school I did a lot of block printing. What we did for the ink was to get a rectangular plexiglass plate and put a glob of ink at the top. We would get a tiny bit on the roller then roll it underneath, continuing to get more and roll until we heard a "sticky" or "clicking" sound while rolling. You also want that sound when rolling onto the block you are printing from. Whether it be one of the rubber ones or corkboard, you want to hear that sound. It means you are getting just enough ink to make it dark but not too much ink that it gets messy
Same here in college! Except my professor told me that it should sound like a light shower on the roof and not like heavy rain. And the way that I gagged it was the feel of it.
As someone who loves kimonos it's kinda funny to see the obi bow hanging at butt level 😂 Overall beautiful costume and tremendous effort with all the stamping and layering!

This was a monster project(for Genshin impact standards…) and you rocked it! My First actual attempt to cosplay aether made me realise that the quality of cosplays either went really bad or I am just not willing to sacrifice my happiness to undone or simply Not well done costumes. So I will have my First real self made costume for yun jin in the early 2023 month. Your Video is encouraging and resembles what many forgot over the past years. Cosplay is not perfection. Cosplay is still a Hobby and for many a relief. It was really fun and relateable to see your process✨

I just found you and you now have a forever subscriber! I love that you tried experimenting with lino blocks for your cosplay. Especially because I am a huge relief print fan and it’s one of my favorite art mediums to work with. For someone who claims they don’t quite know what they’re doing and you did amazing. I especially loved that you took a paintbrush to help thin out the paint on your block because I could see that the paint consistency was not quite right, it was too gloopy, and had to be thinned out. You had such an ingenious way to fix your problem! I also want to say thank you, you’ve inspired me to go back into cosplay, and even though I am not the best at sewing. Maybe I can lean on my strengths and try a cosplay and use block printing with it. Who knows but I am definitely excited to try again!😊

“Even if it’s got extra toes” is what I needed to hear right now. I’m making a Chrissy Cunningham cosplay and seeing the love, dedication and attention to small sometimes seemingly pointless details is giving me the push I need. I’ve literally put my blood into this thing learning to punch needle patches. Wich has been frustrating since I bought the wrong fabric have made three different iterations trying to get the right shade of yellow/orange and shapes, had the threader break and have sliced my hands to hell and back. I also have had to learn to drape since the “easy hack” for the white section of her vest (cutting a slightly larger t shirt to match then sewing it together” didn’t work with my mahoosive yabbos 🙄. I’ve been taking a break from all that to make the skirt while I watch you videos and can rest easy knowing that even if my hair-brained schemes to cheat the athletic tape at the bottom doesn’t work out I’m still on the right path. I’m sure there’s more lessons I’ll learn but I can feel better knowing that even if I’m poorer in finances from my mistakes I’ll be richer in knowledge because I learned from them. ❤

I think it's really fun and interesting to see a true DIY of something that many pro cosplayers would use a printer for, something that most people don't have access to. In today's day and age I feel like making printed patterns, 3D printed weapons etc is the new standard, instead of the old school cut and paste and experimenting with what you got.. So love seeing all your new tecniques!

I try to find motivational stuff to stay in the cosplay community as someone who can't fit prebuilt /bought cosplay but also can't sew And seeing someone's genuine walkthrough an entire process and not just the highlights is so nice I don't even play genshin impact but this makes me want to ,if only I could because I feel like I'd love these characters designs alone
"Lino" or more properly "wood block" printing, actually was originally used for printing fabrics both to directly apply colour to fabric & to apply wax to resist colour (as in the batik process) while dyeing fabric.
As a girl who is handsewing a mitsuri cosplay all these sewing tricks (even overexplained ones) actually help me so much!! I love your videos and cosplays I want to go to a con one day 🥲
You just made me think, as a middle schooler and someone who has never even sowed a tiny piece onto fabric, can I do a method like this for a cosplay and give it to my friend to make a TBHK crew in a anime con? but then I rememberd. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY-
For the linoleum stamp to look even, you need a spoon 🥄 and with the round part, with circular motions, press on the back of the stamp without lifting very well.. Just a tip if anyone want to do this but get even stamps
i feel like making your own cosplay for any genshin character is a test of perseverance and craftsmanship. you passed btw, it looks absolutely gorgeous
I know this video is like a year old, so you prolly won't see this, and someone/many people may have already said this, but if you ever find yourself needing to stamp your fabric again, Speedball does make block printing ink for fabrics, and they also have this stuff called transparent extender base that you can mix into your ink to get that transparency you want/need! I absolutely love your work, and I admire your dedication to taking on these challenging cosplays! (I did a Venti cosplay and I thought that was hard, but this is on a whole 'nother level!)
I watched this video making my first corset (I found the corset video too late) and it really inspired me and helped me push both my mental and physical boundaries! Honestly you are the core of my sewing passion and expertise!

"Lino" or more properly "wood block" printing, actually was originally used for printing fabrics both to directly apply colour to fabric & to apply wax to resist colour (as in the batik process) while dyeing fabric.

For the linoleum stamp to look even, you need a spoon 🥄 and with the round part, with circular motions, press on the back of the stamp without lifting very well..
Just a tip if anyone want to do this but get even stamps
i feel like making your own cosplay for any genshin character is a test of perseverance and craftsmanship. you passed btw, it looks absolutely gorgeous

I know this video is like a year old, so you prolly won't see this, and someone/many people may have already said this, but if you ever find yourself needing to stamp your fabric again, Speedball does make block printing ink for fabrics, and they also have this stuff called transparent extender base that you can mix into your ink to get that transparency you want/need!
I absolutely love your work, and I admire your dedication to taking on these challenging cosplays! (I did a Venti cosplay and I thought that was hard, but this is on a whole 'nother level!)
