elderly friend has a 2002 rebel with only 200 miles on it. He's putting it up for sale. I'm going to install a new battery & see if we can get it fired up. thumbs up the vid
Sorry for the late reply, but I think the fuse should be by the battery. Once you get the fuse out you can take it to a local auto parts store and see if they have a replacement one in stock
The Rebel will not charge at idle. The lights will actually run the battery down at idle. I saw 14V on that gauge, which means the charging system is working fine. If the battery won't stay charged it is almost certainly the battery. 14V shows a healthy charging system. I charge a new battery for 24 hours at 1 amp before installing it and starting the bike. Not absolutely necessary. I also keep my bike battery connected to a battery maintainer when not riding it. Makes the battery last longer. If you haven't done it yet, CHANGE THE OIL. The Rebel 250 is a small air cooled engine with no oil filter and a very small oil capacity. I change the oil in my Rebel every 1000 miles, with Castrol GTX 20w50 car oil. High dollar synthetic motorcycle oil is a waste of money when you change it that often. Pay no attention to the epa recommendation for a thinner oil. Use 20w50. This is a very old engine design and will last a lot longer with a heavier oil.
@@aaront2192 You cannot use "energy conserving" oil in a motorcycle. It will indeed ruin the clutch. But energy conserving oil only comes in viscosities 10w30 and under. That is way too thin for motorcycles and older cars anyway. I have always used 20w50 oil in bikes, both car oil and motorcycle specific oil. 20w50 is NOT energy conserving oil. Never had a problem.
I have the same bike. Im having no crank no start. The bike was running fine but the lights turned off while I was riding. I thought that was weird so I pulled over and turn it off after that it didn’t turn back on. So help plz 😂

Thank you for the information. I deff do need to change the oil very soon
Car oil is a death sentence for a wet clutch bike...resource conserving oil additives will destroy the clutch....common knowledge.

I had an issue when the bike would want to turn over and just wouldn’t, it was always a bad battery for me
