    I installed the Nibbi PE28FL on my Hawk 250 this morning. On my Hawk, the factory studs weren't long enough to use the spacer and both gaskets. I just used one gasket without the spacer and bolted it directly to the factory intake. The factory nuts went on, no problem. I installed a 38 pilot and 120 main jet. I am at sea level. I am happy with the improvement over the factory carb. The only adjustment that I made on the carb was to the idle. I also adjusted the throttle cable to give it a little more "slack." It starts very easily now. Just barely touch the start button and it starts right up! For now, I am still using the factory hose and airbox. First impression wasn't amazing because I was only able to ride it about 3 miles before the rain came this morning. I took it out again this afternoon after the roads dried and it was a big improvement. Well worth the $72.99 and a few minutes of my time. The only issue that I see is that the throttle cable has to take a sharp bend at the gas tank. Not causing a problem right now but it might be an issue in the future.

      I wasn't able to do the paper, plastic, paper thing either because of the lack of bolt length coming from the intake manifold. I ended up using the stock plastic gasket because it had a paper(ish) side and a plastic side. The plastic gasket that came with the Nibbi was shinny plastic on both sides. I put the paper(ish) side of the stock plastic gasket against the manifold and the shinny part against the paper gasket that came with the Nibbi, then the other side of the paper against the carb.
      Does that sound like my best bet or would y'all suggest otherwise?

    I installed one of these on a X pro Templar 250. I would highly recommend buying some extra gas line and good American made steel hose clamps installing your fuel lines on the carburetor before you ever try to put it on. Trust me this will save you inventing new curse words and possibly an hour out of your life.

    I just put a 28 nibbi on my tbr7. And when I got to give it throttle it cuts out. I have an exhaust and running a stock air box. I’m running a 115 main and a 48 pilot. When I had a 112 and 40 it ran worse. Any idea what way I need to go? It will idle fine and I can baby it and give it throttle but when I hammer it it’ll cut out and die?? And I’m around 900 ft above sea level

    I ordered the sigma 6 stage 1. 2. And 3 jet kit for my stock carb and it had pilot jets and main jets . I changed them and it does great it came with main jets pilot jets and several different sizes and several needle shims. But my bike isn't as modded out as yours so it didn't need a whole lot of extra help

    • @Jboost412
      @Jboost412  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The issue isn’t really that if you jet the stock carb the bike won’t appear to run correctly it’s more so that the factory carbs only a 25mm carb so it’s not really an optimal size for the engine using a good quality 28mm nets you more power better throttle response etc etc…how my bikes setup with out performance parts big bore kit so it’s a true 250 high flow high comp head cam etc etc a real 30mm is ideal at that point but a stock or internally stock bike line this with bolt ons a 28 is a perfect combination

Make sure the valves get adjusted also since it’s a new bike…have a video on how to do it the right way they always need adjustment in the beginning if not the valves can’t close all the way with no lash so definitely get them setup as well!!

    Thanks again for the video! Perfect for a stock engine, flange connection and all. Just ordered one for my Hawk (already have the jet kit on hand). I am not sure why the so called Chinese Keihin pz30 clone or Mikuni VM26 clone are even remotely called "clones". They are clearly not clones and clearly a smaller carb internally. God knows what design they are really cloned from and are really just garbage. Agree with you. Buy one these Nibbi's and throw those cheap Chinese imposter pho-clone carbs in the trash where they belong.

    • @Jboost412
      @Jboost412  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I truly couldn’t agree more Makes it really confusing when someone asks me what size carb I use “30mm” and they respond with “well no reason to upgrade it comes with a 30mm” 🤦‍♂️ I always have to let them know it has a 25mm carb that’s confused so it calls itself a 30 😆

    • @multicyclist
      @multicyclist 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@4150CHF It is the best carb I have had so far as far as power and drive-ability. The Mikuni VM26 clones are a waist of time and money after trying them. They do not even resemble an actual Mikuni VM26 and are really a generic 26mm carb with a 30mm throttle plate. A genuine Mikuni VM26 is completely different and actually has a 30mm venturi. Nibbi's are a quality carb.

    • @Jboost412

    • @Jboost412
      @Jboost412  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries then!! honestly that’s odd your intake studs must be shorter then most considering there’s low to no quality control on these bikes doesn’t surprise me though but typically the studs are too long without the spacer so they end up hitting the carb body and it won’t Sit flush on the intake but if yours is flush then that’s all that matters!!

      If the plastic spacer is used it’s definitely recommend to use a gasket on each side but I’m sure you could try it with 1 and see if it’s sealed up correctly an easy way to see if the seals 100% or not is to start it up then spray some carb and choke or similar on the area in question of it causes the Rpms to raise or lower then there’s a leak after a while the gaskets are worn so we use/recommend rtv high heat gasket maker if yours are missing you can always just the gasket maker now it works great

Also your throttle cable adjuster is right where the cable meets the throttle housing typically covered up by a little rubber boot slide it back loosen the lock nut & loosen the adjuster around 2 turns then lock the nut back down to make sure you have enough cable length/free play so the throttle valve “slide” can seat all the way down so there’s no issues with high idle!! I even put a 19mm from a 125 on and it ran and started fine. What am I doing wrong. I’ve installed nibbie carbs on a lot of bikes and never once had this problem. Any help is greatly appreciate.

      Possibly just a defective carb or some issue with the carb that needs fixed because a 28 or 30mm shouldn’t be any issue at all jetted & adjusted correctly I’ve built allot of these bikes now & that’s our go to carbs so sounds like an isolated issue with that carb only from what I hear here

      Most people who have an issue with high rpm idle and the idle adjustment doesn’t lower the idle need to adjust the cable slack at the throttle housing your case was different but general rule of thumb is if the air fuel for the pilot circuit needs to be in more then 1 turn the pilots flow rate needs to be lowered if the A/F has to be out more then 2/2 1/4 turns out the pilot needs to be increased in flow rate just so you guys know that’s pretty standard across the board from keihin Mikuni service manuals for example but good luck guys hope you all get your bikes dialed in!!

      Yeah I’ve been doing allot of high flow head work lately to go along with my big bore kits I sell for the bikes cams etc etc after the work I offer these bikes really wake up & go….definitely upsets big name Japanese bikes when they get beat in the trails then find out it starts as a China crate bike 😆

    Wtf is going on with mine? 2019 hawk nibbi 28mm fl but it has an oring instead of gasket material and the throttle fitment against the tank well could be better and also the stock intake tube doesn't fit over the flange in the carb

    I just installed a new nibbi 26, and now the bike won't start, it cranks but won't start. With the stock carb, it starts right away.

    • @Jboost412
      @Jboost412  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you rejet & adjust the Nibbi to match up with your application? Elevation & engine size modification etc etc will all affect the requirements for jetting the check the air fuel mixture screw sometimes they’re turned all the way in or out when they’re new so it’s just gonna be quick jetting & tuning of the new carb to get everything going good for you!!

      Got ya so that sounds like the throttle valve or slide as it’s more commonly referred to the slide has 2 grooves on it when it slips into the carb it can fit either way but one grove is all the way and one is only at the base about a 1/4 way up for the idle adjustment to move it remove the threaded cap and rotate the slide 180 degrees so it can fall all the way down into the carburetor instead of being stuck at the top mimicking wide open throttle it’s a common issue I find in my groups I run on Facebook so no worries it’s just a learning curve & a easy fix!! Let me know how it works out!!

      @Jboost412  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your average Tbr7 hawk raven etc comes with a “pz30” that well has zero quality control they basically either work or they don’t 🤨 with that said I’ve never understood why they’re called a pz30 as that would indicate it’s a 30mm carburetor 🤔 most of the factory air intakes & cylinder heads for a CG have a internal diameter around 29mm’s which makes them a perfect candidate to run a 28mm carburetor while some myself included used a true 30mm with a internally stock engine for a bit to do some testing a 28mm is a perfect combo for the CG it’s a very popular modification in most cases the 1st actual upgrade chosen “toss up between the carb or an exhaust” hard to say for sure but it definitely makes the bike respond better!!

    • @Jboost412
      @Jboost412  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve found most of the factory heads intake sides & intakes to be 29-29.2ish mm’s when i remember to check before just getting straight to the point with my port work…as most of the time I forget or am in a rush to get one started/finished & back to said customer
