    It begs the question why the hell dont these bicycle companies include a chain catcher with the front mech?

    Can someone tell me what bolt type is the one at 0:55? I got one of these catchers from my bike store but they did not have the threaded bolt that you are supposed to replace on the derailleur. Trying to figure out what to look for at the hardware store now..

    My chain dropped last week right after I brought up it to a mechanic this seems like a product that would solve this problem from reoccurring in the future.

    My issue is going from the little to the big chain ring, is it good for that too? (The opposite is mentioned.)

      @karenlouis7808:
      🤦‍♂️. this is to prevent, when you’re riding from the big front-cog to the LITTLE front-cog, the chain from jumping PAST the little front-cog and going-to ONTO-the-frame-itself, scratching your frame.
      this is a sort-of “ramp”_or_”slide” to “slide” your chain over to the little front-cog, if the chain goes PAST the little front-cog over to the frame, when you’re shifting from the FRONT BIG-cog to the LITTLE front-cog.
      If you have problems jumping from the FRONT little-cog to the FRONT big-cog, then you need a derailleur-adjustment, because your front-derailleur isn’t doing its job right. (or you are pedaling HARD when in-the-middle_of doing a shift [in bicycle-gears] (which is a HUGE mistake 🥺)).

      Jose Aguilar This 5 pack is so cheap, it's almost impossible to pass up: www.artscyclery.com/Road_Inner_Tube_5_Pack_700x20_28_48mm_Presta_Valve/descpage-ACIT5P748.html?crumb=RDRUBBER

    Since you're recommending the SRAM braze on adapter and the chain spotter. Will the SRAM Braze on adapter work with the Shimano 6800 Ultegra braze on front derailleur?

      +xaznperswaesonx Yes, it will work with an Ultegra braze on front derailleur. Thanks for watching!

      +Art's Cyclery I went ahead and bought the SRAM Braze On Adapter. SRAM seems to only sell one which is the SRAM Red Braze On Adapter. The SRAM Red Braze On Adapter does not work with the Ultegra 6800. There is a lip/curve portion towards the back and it forces the bolt to go in at an angle and the derailleur body doesn't sit flush. The stand alone SRAM chain spotter works though. Thanks for the chain spotter recommendation!

      Will the SRAM one fit on the red etap front derailleur?

    I see a lot of instructions on how to install it but nothing on how to put a chain back on after it falls off despite the catcher….

    SRAM do not ship this item with instructions nor to they have instructions on their websit, so they'd damm well better be paying you for a service they decided not to provide. Bravo and thanks.

    Will this work on a full suspension mountain bike with an a.o.s. suspension system?

    • @artscyclery875
      @artscyclery875  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ronald Tartaglia For a full suspension bike, we recommend using a chain guide as it is a very secure way to ensure chain stability.

    That is completely unnecessary if you have a Di2 system. If it is a mechanical system and keep the Derailleur and chain properly lubricated and adjusted, they work excellent. The problem of many cyclists is that, after use and after use, ignore the maintenance and cleaning of their bikes. The dust and dirt is abrasive and shortens the life of the components.

      @Wooly Chewbakker I must agree with you 100%. My first road bike i bought 5 months ago uses Rival22 Sram and i never had a dropp chain whatsoever... Now 4 months in i have myself a new Di2 groupset on new bike and im getting drop chains from small bracket onto my carbon frame like 60-70% of the time. I can't believe how lucky i was to have this chain catcher on my standard sram groupset before and now im not even confident to go on longer rides with lots of traffic stops knowing i might get a drop chain somehow.. it's just really annoying and one of the last things you'd want in any circumstances.
