      Hey Doc - can you please do a review on court ff2 vs solution speed ff2 as the solution speed ff2 came out newly and am planning to buy it ...
      I already have the court ff2 and they are super stiff... too hard ... less mobility

    I’ve tried probably 6-8 different shoes in the last 6 months trying to find the perfect one. Court FF 2’s are the most comfortable, responsive, supportive, and durable shoe I’ve had. In LOVE! Stocked up several pairs for the inevitable “update.” I’m wearing these babies for at least a few years.

    Thanks for your comprehensive review of the FF2. I’ve been in all brands and right out of the box I’ve never felt a shoe improve my foot speed and foot work than this one. No wonder Novak moves so well in the shoe. Zero break in, slipper like fit. Tons of support and the sole has a perfect mix of traction characteristics. The shoe feels like an extension of my foot. I don’t have to think about it on my foot. I can sprint full speed and get to every ball. I’ve been playing over 35 years and this is the most impressive shoe I’ve worn. Got 2 consecutive sets off a guy who always beats me first time out with the shoe today.

    I debated between Court FF2 and Gel Res 8, coming from a year in Gel Res 7s. I went with Gel Res 8 because of the durability guarantee. The mono-sock of the Court FF2 in long term reviews tends to tear around the tongue area.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I’m really not a fan of the slipper tongue for that reason among others- they fray and just don’t hold up over time- I get that they make it more glove-like but I usually will go with a traditional tongue - other than that the court ff’s were solid

    I just got the Speeds because they were heavily discounted and I think they're great. I don't like flat and wide soles because I feel like I can't turn and roll on my feet as easily and I have enough balance of my own to not need assistance from my shoes. I used to play American Football in Nikes which had the thinest sole I've ever seen on a shoe and the sides were kind of rounded and they were perfect for being a WR boots because I could turn ridiculously easily. It felt like I wasn't wearing boots at all but they just pointed my forefoot into the ground due to their shape and gave my leg a forward lean. Also, I'm having absolutely no issue with my heels coming out of the Speeds but I went a size down which is what Asics advise in their website. At the end of the day it comes down to your playstyle and your body because I would personally find the positives in this video negatives and vice versa.

    It’s like once I tried a pair of ASICS, I never want to move to another brand. I held the ff court 2 though, surprisingly pretty heavy. So I’m guessing djokovic really needed a good support shoe for himself

    I’ve got the Solution Speed FF. Found the same thing with toe off and creasing but never irritated my foot and after starting to matchplay properly, I didn’t even notice it. Was focussed on the ball and winning the point: probably did make a popping noise but not my focus. Didn’t have any issue with heel lock although my son who is slightly smaller footed, used the last eyelet during a wear test.
    Not having tried the other two (had a bad experience with Gel Res 5), I can’t comment in comparison but interestingly the two most famous Adidas Barricade users now both use Court FF. Novak (barricade 7) and Andy Murray (barricade up to 8 then reverse engineered eights under UA branding). The court FF have that big medial piece like the classic barricades for support and dragging.
    I want to see the Dremel test on the SS FF as suspect the upper is reasonably durable although no reinforced sections. As a non slider/dragged, I’m focussed on super light.
    Also would be nice to comment on arch height/support as found SS FF are the only recent tennis shoe I don’t need my orthotics in. Whereas a few basketball shoes I have don’t need orthotics.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So interesting you pointed out the barricade as I was going to mention that but the video was getting long- the court FF felt a lot like the second gen barricade IMO. The twistruss midfoot shank is probably what your feeling as arch support as those are just as good as any over the counter orthotic and I felt that extra support as well. Thanks for all the feedback!

    • @robwilliams6820
      @robwilliams6820 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Tennis Pro Doc I’m pretty sure there’s a little more arch to the sock liner/insole as well as the structure of the shoe. Comparing to nike and Adidas sock liners, the ASICS had a little more curve.
      Are you testing the Aetrex Lynco orthotics?

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have quite a bit of experience with Lynco and I'm usually not a huge fan just due to them not having a lot of closed cell materials/ poly material- but there are a few good indications for them and a large group of people who love them, they'll be in my orthotics rundown once I organize it- hard to narrow down a topic like that for a 10 min video

    • @robwilliams6820
      @robwilliams6820 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Tennis Pro Doc I’d be curious to what you’d suggest instead of the L420 as that’s what I use. They are fairly heavy but need the posted heel and arch support. They’ve changed the foam as the older ones were a different foam but seem more durable now

    • @FootDoctorZach

    Thanks for the great reviews. I really liked the Solution Speed 3's from a couple years ago but Asics does really have better options now with two great shoes in the Court FF 2 and Gel Res 8. I would just say if you have a narrow foot I might recommend going down 1/2 a size if you are anywhere close to being in-between sizes like me. I always wait for a sale on the older colors which can be had for about $100.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the follow up! -You're the second person now thats said to go a 1/2 size down on narrow feet so I'll make sure to add that to the teardown videos. Yep there's always a deal to be had if you don't mind previous colorways , I usually wait for a shoe to go down in price once the new line is out as well

    I got the Court FF2s. The heel lock and fit is great! It is more stable than Gel Res 7, NB Fresh foam LAV, Nike Vapor X and Air Zoom Zeros that I tried on. I just had to go down half size for better fit.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting that you went down a size- I’ll have to see if that happens with others as well- I was pleasantly surprised with the court FF 2 as they were the most stable shoe I’ve come across maybe save for the Stycon BOA - but the court FF’s are much lighter so they win against those as well- thanks for the follow up!

      I’ve had every barricade except the 7, I though the most stable feeling was the 18’ with the plastic midfoot support - I like court ff2 a bit more with the outrigger heel counter and the upper wrap, but most of the later barricades in my opinion are monster trucks too

  • @RigMaster_
    @RigMaster_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I recently bought the Solution Speed clay after having used the Gel Resolution 7. The toe box on the Sol speed is more narrow and for some reason my little toe on my right foot gets rubbed really sore after 30+ minutes of play time. After using the shoes for about 4 - 5 sessions the annoying popping has gone away, but my foot doesn't feel locked in at all in the shoe. If I tie the laces normally, my foot feels likes it's moving out of the shoe. To stop this I have to tighten them to the point when it hurts my feet (even when using back lace holes). They also don't feel like they have the same cushioning. I use gel inserts, but after playing in these for an hour or more the soles of my feet hurt which didn't happen in the gel res 7s.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The solution speeds are not the greatest engineered shoes- they’re made for a straight foot with a medium arch which isn’t the norm - the ankle collar is low that’s why you’re coming out of them- if you want Asics I’d go with the court ff2 and if you want a light weight speed shoe I’d go with the Ubersonic 2, vapor x, or babolat jet Mach 2

    Which is your favorite ASICS right now ? I hated resolution 8 despite all the top reviews out there. No breathability for me, the upper plastic part of the toe box was irritating me when braking, they are so cushioned that I don’t get any feedback from the court and as most ASICS i don’t know why but they cause pain to my plantar fasciitis. I miss my favorites speed solutions 2s.... best ASICS ever. Also many report that FF Court 1 were more cushioned and soft that 2s.

      Unless you are having pain with that pronation it’s really not a terrible thing, every foot operates differently, some function well with more pronation than others, that being said the court ff 2 is good for arch support, so are the SoleCourt boosts, GP turbos - if you are having pain or straining you can throw in pair or orthotics to bring you back to neutral

      Ankle instability is a bear to deal with especially if you have a narrow foot- you actually may move around a bit too much in the toe box of the court ff2- id try the yonex eclipsion 3- it has the outrigger heel counter for stability and fits a more narrow foot- i have a few videos on it

    Hi! It was a very detailed and enlightening review. I've been to buy FF courts but I don't know if I will like the tongue system. The Resolution 8 I didn't buy because I had the 7 that I found very stiff. I have SS FF because I managed to buy them in a promotion for 55 €. I like them because they are light but I would not train many hours with them in HC I prefer something more robust. Do you find the upper part of Court FF comfortable? More than for example NB ff lav? Thank you

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes surprisingly the court FF upper is very comfortable- it’s hard to compare to the Lav because they’re two completely different styled shoes but I’d say they are just as easy to break in but maybe not as breathable - I’ve heard the tongue frays after a while playing in them but as far as the last 3 times I’ve been out in them they had zero break in and it felt secure - thanks for the feed back!

    Hey doc, thank you so much for your excellent videos!
    I have a flat, slightly wide foot. I’m a GR8 user, and I’m ok with it, but as a long-time GR user I preferred the 7.
    In the last month, I’m having left Achilles’ tendon pain, especially when lowering the angle between my foot and leg (e.g. when stretching the soleus muscle).
    I’m then thinking about trying Court FF2 or Adidas Solecourt. Do you think they can be an improvement for my flat feet-Achilles’ tendon pain combo?
    I was about buying Solecourt, but, as a clay player, Solecourt Clay are currently sold out in Europe.
    Thank you so much!
    EDIT: since I own GR8 since September, and I play about 8-10 hours a week, I would also consider trying new GR8 if none of the mentioned shoes can be a solution for my pain.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So bother the regular solecourt boost and court ff2 are good for clay, I would say the SCB will be more forgiving for heel pain but the arch does take a little time to break in, but both are good for sure I just prefer the SCB

Only played 3 hours with them, and they’re still breaking in (having some blisters on both feet arches). They’re surely harder than GR8, but also way more supportive and stable in my opinion. My achille’s tendon is feeling better.
      I think they’ll be just perfect when they’ll soften up and I’ll get 100% used to their higher heel.

    Hey great review man! I am thinking of getting the ff2, but after trying it on, they seem to have the same clicking noise when moving forward just like the SS, have you noticed that ? And because novak slides on hard court, i heard that these shoes were meant for that, and that you kinda have to adapt of actually sliding with them, cause there are not as ''grippy '' as others..which i don't wanna to, cause i don't slide on hard courts. I'm curious about your thought on that ? thx

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you👍 I actually thought the FF2 was one of the better gripping shoes on hard and clay that I’ve played with the last year and I never had any traction issues with them- as far as the clicking I didn’t have that problem but I can see if you have a certain forefoot shape all that reinforcement may bend at the wrong place and produce that sound/ sensation but I would think that would break in after a week

    Hi! Thanks for your video. I find the court ff 2 abit narrower in the mid sole area as compared to the solution speed ff. Do you find that? I didn't experience any pain or aches on the mid sole area of my foot when i was playing on the solution speed but once I started using the court ff 2, I felt pain/discomfort on both sides of the mid sole area of my foot. Is that because the court ff 2 has a bit narrower base on the mid sole area as compared to the solution speed ff?

    I recently purchased an asics res 8 and I felt a little bit of ankle slippage and lack of support on the middlefoot. That produced an unbalanced state in my legs and the shoe is giving me plantar fascitis, ankle pain, some times knee pain and even hips pain if I don’t use a super thick pair of socks as thorlo’s. • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep you are falling into the category of feet that just don’t like the construction of the Gel Res 8 - court FF2 is a great alternative if you like the Asics foam and fit but need a more supportive, substantial shoe

    • @felipeapolinario8842
      @felipeapolinario8842 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FootDoctorZach what about using the res 8 without insole? Do you recommend it? I've heard about some other palyers wearing the shoes without insole to increase the "low to the ground" feeling and reduce weight. In my case, however, the possible benefit would be that when the insole is removed the support on the ankle increases, since the shoe goes a little bit higher on the foot. What do you think about it? By the way, congratulations for your channel! By far the most informative channel on youtube about tennis reviews!

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I actually would never recommend wearing a tennis shoe without an insole- there are a multitude of reasons why it’s a bad idea but you can also get thin insoles over the counter to replace the factory insole that would take them from 5mm down to around 3 mm but I would keep some insole in there for sure
