Sprint intervals are an excellent way to take care of mitochondrial health! There are so many benefits of sprinting, especially as we age. Thank you for sharing! I love helping others to start learning to sprint! 🙌
I love sprinting! It's so cool to feel the speed, how we almost flight on the track. So sprint intervals are quite cool. You have to rest enough so that your technique is still good enough. And then when the technique starts to break down, you know it's time to stop the effort. This is a skill gaining type of training. After a few months of these, your vo2max AND your ability to sprint with good form increases. And your speed hopefully increased too. But you have to get a competent track and field trainer for that.
I do this on my manual Treadmill : 10 sec at + 15 mph 50 sec recovery x 4 , 3 to 5 sets 2 to 3 minutes recovery between sets. BTW I will be 70 this year.
@@tomd5178 I've gotten up to 20mph for 2 to 3 seconds : but I was a sprinter in high school and College so a 51 sec 440 College Time is about 18mph : that I can only run now about 5 seconds ! Don't go over 10 seconds per sprint. 5-7 seconds with longer rests 2 to 3 minutes recovery to start.
Probably a CrossFit style workout that combines weightlifting, gymnastics type of movements along with a cardio component. Think of a program that combines multiple movement patterns at a high intensity.

10 seconds at 15mph? Wow, amazing! Congratulations. I'm 77 and working on increasing from 5.
