I’m currently in the market for one and looking hard at the Kaku Zulu Pedal. I’m in Colorado looking to get off the bank in lakes and reservoirs for primarily bass fishing. I’m digging the versatility of it to also use as kind of a SUP platform for just hanging on the water, swimming and chilling, etc.

Have you done or thought about doing a dedicated video on different types, models and brands of PFD options?

Chad Hoover just released a video on that today, I should make one too! I like the NRS Chinooks, the Old Town Angler, and for inflatables the mustangs are nice! I mainly use the west marine ones because thats what i have lol

This is kind of timely for me. I fish two areas. One is down on the South Texas Coast that has some 1 to 4 mile transits to best fishing grounds. I also fish in and cross over some very shallow water. I also fish some freshwater structure for crappie. I do load kayak over truck for transit to south texas coast because I also pull a travel trailer. I currently fish from a Hobie Lynx.I fishes really well and is a dream to transport but a motor would be nice for transits. I was looking at a titan (both of them) but had some reservation about the weight of the larger one and utility of the 10.5. I looked at both the autopilot and the epedl. They look like a pain to load on the truck and I would like to hear from others how big a problem the autopilot of epedl drive would be on shallow flats. currently kind of leaning towards pwr129 with rear or bow motor or both and paddling when I am in the shallows. Thought of adding bixby to lynx but it looks under-powered. Anyone else facing the same needs?

The other boats are too heavy, and if you hit shallow water, you'll have to paddle, and that's no fun. What I would do is add Bixpy to the rudder of your boat using the new Bixpy adapter, which replaces the existing rudder. I would get the bigger Bixpy battery so you can extend your range. This way you have a light boat and a motor to give you that extra boost you need. With Bixpy at 4 mph or so, you'll be in your spot in no time with little effort. Autopilot will max at 4 mph too unless you add the NK300, which makes it 6 mph. The Bonafide PWR is a great boat with the NK300, but you'll spend $4,000. Why not just add Bixpy to your Lynx, unless you hate your Lynx. Please use my Bixpy affiliate links if you buy one, or if you buy an NK300, autopilot, or any boat, haha. Thanks!

@@AliexFolgueira Thanks Aliex, I was thinking of this option. The Lynx is a great inshore fishing platform because I go kind of minimalist. At 220 lbs myself I was worried I might increase the weigh with motor and battery enough to affect performance. I still paddle some in shallow water but it is actually nice. The Hobie drive has an advantage in shallow water. So you do not have to flip one I will tell you lynx has amazing primary stability but if you pass that point you are gone as secondary is non-existent. The Bixby is around 25 lbs so it should work, Hopefully battery will fit under the seat. I will gladly use your link if I go this route. I agree the Titans and Old Towns are ruled out, too heavy and too inconvenient in shallow water. This leaves pwr129 with newport 300 using your link. A removable bow trolling motor could also be added for structure crappie fishing. The net cost is very close after selling the lynx.

Sorry, I meant to ask if you ever fish right against the bridge pilings with you AP136?

I have, spot locked works nicely on bridges and moving waters like that because aren't physically anchored and you can move if something happens.

@AliexFolgueira I have a youtube channel as well here in NJ, and I use my engine to pin myself up against the bridge pilings on one side or the other with a couple of bumpers in between for cushion. Works great for sheepshead up here. I only spot lock in windy conditions when winds are across the canal or sometimes wind against tide. Always wondered how my system would work down there, it the easiest way to catch fish in my opinion. The AP136 is the only platform I feel comfortable doing this in as the engine is somewhat shielded from structure I am adjacent to as opposed to a bow mount engine that can run right into the bridge. I know you probably don't have time, but you should check my channel and see how I'm using mine if your curious. (South Jersey Yak Fishing) By the way, like your channel. Catch em up my friend.

yeah teh motor is inside the hull of the kayak so the yak itself may bump into the structure, on a regular boat the motor is expose so it may get damage, you cant cover it with a bumper like you can teh boat
