Are you talking about fixing it whilst running (well, obviously not if shaft is off the motor... but why does it need to be disconnected anyway to temp fix the gland???). Bicycle tube ? Never sail with it. Nothing made any sense in this video.

Should be part of boat training or anyone who has a “dripless” type shaft seal. You may have planned the memory that will save some people.
You would be much better immobilising the shaft at the coupling- surely? Good tip with inner tube though.👍
