The only reason I think he'd ever think of trying to learn this was if he was going to do it in a trio or quartet with other trombones, because there is no way he'd be able to pull this off on his own. I love the way Herman Li approaches Through The Fire and Flames. After all these years of the song getting memed on it would be very easy to hate it, especially if it was your band's most well-known song, but this dude just embraces the memes and runs with them. Whether the song is being loaded with Clone Hero in jokes, poorly played on a flute, or ported to Trombone Champ he usually seems more than happy to check out the memes and tends to be impressed by them. We need more people like this.
Remember the time a guy made a video titled "how to write a Dragonforce song" and absolutely dunked on how formulaic the band is? and then Herman actually recorded a video with the guy playing his song that was mocking them.
I imagine anyone who does Through the Fire and Flames on trombone would have a massive arm from moving that slide back and forth so rapidly, like a professional boxer punching the air with the slide. 😂
I was dying watching this reaction, but what truly broke me was the end. The player running out of "breath" because of the long running note, and then Herman's PSA to not do drugs... I needed that laugh 🤣
One of the other band members needs to see this video then figure out a way to smuggle a trombone on stage during a show to play as soon as the guitar solo hits.

I cannot overstate how funny this video is and how much I love and appreciate Herman Li for entertaining all of us with his reactions to Through the Fire and Flames
Also Herman... I've played the trombone since middle school through my senior year in highschool. I can vouch how this would be hard to play on both the game and in real life. But knowing that there's too many glissandos in the game would not make it as "Through The Fires And The Flames" it would be "Through The Waters And The Waves" it needs articulation.
I like to think I’m good at recognizing music, especially music I like, like Through The Fire and Flames, but I must say for some parts of this performance it was hard to recognize where we were
When the "solo" kicked in, it reminded me of the time my cousin, Ricky got on his dirt bike for the first time. But, he blasted off into the holler and swamp and the sound was horrific and then there was complete silence....then we just heard him moaning. He was hooked up in amongst a persimmon tree and a briar patch. We daubed mercurachrome on him and sent him off'n the ER on our way to the Piggly Wiggly. He had a busted up leg, had to drain fluid out of his knee cap...but, he met his now wife there. Since then she's cured him of all his adrenaline rushes. But, deep down I know he misses the rush. He still smiles till this day when he hears any type of two stroke engine and his eyes and ears perk up like a deer in headlights. Love ya, Chigger.
The best bit about this whole video is I'm pretty sure Herman's reactions to the trombone champ video are very similar to his internal feelings of pure exasperation every time someone mentions Through the Fire and the Flames in his chat 😂
