Love the videos !!!!!! Excited for this one! Watch all of them as soon as they come out but can you try to include a little more in the videos about up north. Fishing up here in Massachusetts is really different. Like we don’t have shad in our lakes or anything so idk sometimes it’s just hard to relate.
Jacob Iby If there aren't shad then they're gonna be on some other kind of bait. Minnows, perch, panfish and of course craws. I'm like you in the northeast (VT/NH) but these concepts apply across the board, that's one of the biggest things they preach. Historically there's so much misinformation in the fishing industry and Tactical has done an amazing job debunking those myths, one of those myths being that certain baits and techniques don't work in other places. Some things may not necessarily fit for your fishery but if you can take their info and adapt it to your fishery I think you'll stick a Massachusetts pig and find yourself relating more to their info lol!
I am taking Scott's side on this, big fish have a habit of eating smaller fish, and most aren't too particular about the species. The lip less cranks imitate a lot of smaller fish, and depending on the amount of junk to snag on they are worth having one tied on almost any time of year, spring - summer - fall.

I then lost the bait bec the snap holding the bait bent out. I immediately thought about how tactical preaches changing those out lol should have listened.
Great information, Matt! I'm looking forward to trying some of your tips. You didn't really explain WHY the LV-500 is better for hopping the bottom, the Jackall TN-70 is better deep and the Quake is better shallow (even though it's lighter than the Jackall) - can you say something about this ? And a question on rod selection- if you're in a store with a rod in hand, how can you tell how much backbone / how much tip it has without actually being able to try it ? Thanks for another information-filled video!
The lv500 is a 3/4 oz bait 🔥.look at the rod, it will be labeled. An example would be medium heavy fast action. The action is referring to the tip (fast/extra fast/moderate etc) Some have numbers dobyns for instance..733. That would refer to 7'3" 3 power .I bet they have a video explaining all of this in relation to line size ,lure etc
@@bryanmoore6815 Thanks Bryan. The problem with the labels is that one brand's fast is another brand's moderate... how do you know what you're holding when you aren't familiar with the brand's particulars ?
Hey Matt, I thought about this video when I was watching another video. They are back! The LV500GP. That’s the lipless with the blade on the lip. I saw them at The Hook Up Tackle in Phoenix. They do a what’s new video once a week and these were a feature. I checked TW but they did not have any. Maybe an exclusive for them? Tight lines!
Another great video, thanks! I think up here where I live in Montana that blade bait bite should be good right now. I'm gonna get some and try it. How do you fish those? Hoppin slow off bottom or?
Meanwhile in middle Ga im keeping a 3/8s and 1/2 oz jig tied on. Im useing flukes and magnum trick worms to locate and the jig to pull the bigger bite.
I still have a lot of grass, and know that I can rip through it, but do one of these come through better than the others? I like the 6th sense but those bigger hooks worry me a bit.
you can but i'm not a fan since i feel like it'll definitely weaken the the hook. If it's weak it'll just bend right back out and you'll lose fish. Just spend 20 dollars and buy a bunch of nice hooks
Great information as always. I know you are very specific on certain color recommendations. I'm in central FL and fish mostly ponds with alot of bluegill. Should I use a bluegill color? If not what color seems to work best in my situation?
Hey Matt and Tim, just getting started bass fishing in the SW. I feel like I have a degree in Bass Fishing 101 after watching your videos. I’m looking to put together 2 rods and reels (baitcast and spinning). $200 budget for each combo. I’ve purchased a new tatula 100 hls and was leaning to pair it with a Fury 734 medium heavy. I was thinking of a Fuego LT or Shimano equivalent to pair with a SLX, 13 Fishing or Fury. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Not sure if there will be Black Friday sales on any of these. Thanks Dave
Awesome video Matt. As a beginning "meat" (instead of bugs) fisherman, I find these shorter condensed concepts easier to digest. BTW, do you ever find a need/use for a faster reel than HG, something in the 8.2:1 range? Thanks for all the teaching you guys do...
Do you use the tipped in hooks for all your crankbaits. Was going to Change hooks on my crankbaits and lipless. Also would tipped in hooks be better with jerkbaits too?
I understand the need for tipped in points, but why don't the lipless cranks already have them included? You didn't mention the strike king red eye, which seems to be extremely popular
8-10 years ago you helped me in sports chalet! You came up to me gave me all kinds of advice handed me a bunch of stuff and a @UCv8yAO6UKIzMEWCLzKnIbuA card for your website! I went out and caught some of my first bass that night at Lake Berryessa and the time of my life with my friends! The next day went on your website and started watching every video I could find! Awesome vid as always! the lipless is on e of my confidence lures i love em. I'm gonna be fishing in clearlake next week but don't have a boat, any tips on where to shore cast? i'm usually fishing in berryessa and have never fished clear lake.
Hi my name is Carlos and I am from Florida. A week ago I bought a LV MAX 500 on my first order with Tackle warehouse. I went fishing and hooked a 2 or 2.5 pound Bass with this lure and the front hook ripped off from the lure body. Most of my lures are not that expensive like this one and I didn't expect that to happen.
Great Break down! Thank you Matt! I am in Pa, and I am looking to improve on my Lipless/blade bite. About what temperature range do you see this bite getting hot?
Hi Matt and Tim, I have a question. I recently watched a video where Roland Martin suggested using terminal lure clips to quickly change lures instead of always having to cut and tie. I know he was suggesting this for people who don’t have 6 or 8 rods handy. I used to use these clips but more recently I have gone away from them. Do you suggest using them to make quick changes easier or should I continue re-tying my lures?
Ralph Bonati what brand clips? Tactical angler clips are the only ones I’d use, I always tie direct in freshwater apps but when throwing saltwater plugs I use the T.A clips , and I think that’s what Roland used in his vid.
Hey Matt, you mention putting a red hook on the front and a not red on the back... is there any advantage to putting a light wire gam on the front and the heavy wire owner on the back?
You should do a video of humans affecting bass behavior. Like how bass hang onto garbage cans and artificial lay downs in the lake. How your shadows or you yelling after a missed bite work. How your bait splashing into the water can cause interest or scare em. How you being predictable, like throwing the same bait all the time or fishing the same lanes from the bank can train them. How those noisemakers on your trolling motor work. And how human scent on your hands, like tobacco or gasoline, from touching your baits can affect the way they bite. I'm sure there is more but this topic is interesting to me.
hey guys ! i have a question ...since were going into rainy days i was wondering how careful i need to be about keeping my reels dry in the rain? i mean reels get pricey and they arent waterproof but no one seems to care if their reels get wet and im standing there like heloooo yer reel is soaked bro! does it not really mater or what? thnx guys !

Meanwhile in middle Ga im keeping a 3/8s and 1/2 oz jig tied on. Im useing flukes and magnum trick worms to locate and the jig to pull the bigger bite.
Original ratltrap and rapala lipless are great!
Fire tiger works well during the fall
I still have a lot of grass, and know that I can rip through it, but do one of these come through better than the others? I like the 6th sense but those bigger hooks worry me a bit.
Can i just bend in my hooks with pliars great tips tho i was wondering why i lost so many on my lipless thank you
you can but i'm not a fan since i feel like it'll definitely weaken the the hook. If it's weak it'll just bend right back out and you'll lose fish. Just spend 20 dollars and buy a bunch of nice hooks
@@KalaniThames cool thanks
Concerning the hook tip, if you are inclined to do so would simply bending in round bend tips work ( rather than buying hooks for 10- 50 baits )?
8-10 years ago you helped me in sports chalet! You came up to me gave me all kinds of advice handed me a bunch of stuff and a @UCv8yAO6UKIzMEWCLzKnIbuA card for your website! I went out and caught some of my first bass that night at Lake Berryessa and the time of my life with my friends! The next day went on your website and started watching every video I could find! (The expo you did with swim bait in the clear tank was awesome) Just wanted to let you know I'm still watching the content and learning and appreciate you!
Awesome vid as always! the lipless is on e of my confidence lures i love em. I'm gonna be fishing in clearlake next week but don't have a boat, any tips on where to shore cast? i'm usually fishing in berryessa and have never fished clear lake.
“Don’t be A fried” 😂😂
Hi my name is Carlos and I am from Florida.
A week ago I bought a LV MAX 500 on my first order with Tackle warehouse. I went fishing and hooked a 2 or 2.5 pound Bass with this lure and the front hook ripped off from the lure body. Most of my lures are not that expensive like this one and I didn't expect that to happen.
Great Break down! Thank you Matt! I am in Pa, and I am looking to improve on my Lipless/blade bite. About what temperature range do you see this bite getting hot?
Hey Matt & Tim, what is the ideal IPT for a reel you plan on using for lipless and squarebills?
Hi Matt and Tim,
I have a question.
How do you get a lipless to run true when it starts running sideways?
bend the line tie straight. its bent a little
@@ps3Rambo21 Thanks. I'll try that.
Have you guys picked up any of the newer Duo Realis Apex Vibe 100’s? Much bigger than typical lipless, I’d be curious to see you guys play with them.
Tipped in hooks also apply to good ole crank baits?
What lake in Arkansas did you fish? I live just north of little rock and would highly recommend you trying lake Atkins, small lake with big bass.
Any striper fishing in the future?
Hey Matt, you mention putting a red hook on the front and a not red on the back... is there any advantage to putting a light wire gam on the front and the heavy wire owner on the back?
I have a handful of LV’s, what color do you recommend for murky water?
Hmmm. Great baits year round. Bigger fish just above thermocline, using lipless & benski style blades , just use patience & glass composite rods
What size hook to replace on Red eye: 1/2 and 3/4 oz sizes??
So what would your thoughts be on switching a hook out to a vmc hybrid treble?
Have you tried the new 2019 st Croix mojo bass glass series , and would that be good for lipless/crank bait rod ? Great video as always .
That rod will work. Use a MH for 3/8s cranks and up.Any good crankbait rod will work for lipless baits.
How about that the round bend hook will get more of those reaction bites hooked up? In my mind you could miss fish that are not truly eating it.
how come you dont sharpen hooks?
What do you do with all those treble hooks exchanged out? Just got curious...
What color TN-70 was you using on chickamauga?
Matt when were you guys on Lake Chickamauga?
Hey matt, would it be ok to always run a red front treble hook or is that only for when they are going just for that rear hook?
hey guys ! i have a question ...since were going into rainy days i was wondering how careful i need to be about keeping my reels dry in the rain? i mean reels get pricey and they arent waterproof but no one seems to care if their reels get wet and im standing there like heloooo yer reel is soaked bro! does it not really mater or what? thnx guys !
What is your take on MTB AND LTB boxes
