Some fun ideas to further practice your French:
1- Playing games in French. Honestly this can be any game you like, but I’ve been playing Brain Test and Criminal Case in French when I’m bored; they particularly help you with your vocabulary.
2- Using double subtitles. There are chrome extensions that help you to put two subtitles in different languages; I find them particularly helpful especially if you are a beginner watching French movies/tv shows.
3- French webtoons. This one weirdly did not occur to me until I saw it in a video, but especially if you want to get more familiarized with daily phrases and more cultural aspects of French this might be a fun way to consider.
    4- Turn your phone French
5- Journal in french; write short stories maybe
6- Use AI for help. For example, I have no one around me I can practice my french speaking skills with. If you are in the same situation, you don’t want to meet strangers online, or if you are a bit shy to talk to people in french yet, you can ask Google Assistant or Siri some questions in French to get some momentum for now.
7- Record yourself talking in French. It is a good practice to talk out loud; you can even talk about something simple like how your day went. Again, a good way to get some momentum if you don’t feel ready to talk to people in French.
8- Reread your favorite book or watch your favorite tv show/movie in french. If you’re already interested in the story, it makes it more fun to learn a language.
That’s all I have for now I think. Lovely video!

I stumbled onto your video and I was encouraged so much by your methodical approach in learning French and other languages. I've been learning French on and off since 2008 and I actually lived in Paris for almost 3 years. As a busy pastor, I don't have a chance to speak French to the congregation but since I am now in Québec, I am determined to be a French speaker. I am an engineer by training and I've worked as an aerospace engineer for over 10 years. You have reminded me there is a way to build up French similar to how one can build an aircraft engine.
Have you tried Pimsleur? I've found it very useful. Except for learning grammar which I have to do apart from it, Pimsleur lets me improve and correct your pronunciation, builds up my vocabulary and listening skills. I will try all the free resources that you have recommended. Thanks again!
Finally, I've found someone who can really help me to learn French systematically. More importantly, you inspire me to get excited again in learning French. In 2 years, I will visit France again and I want to be able to speak French without my wife helping me.

French-Canadian here! Canadian French is not that different from European French, it's mostly the accent and the colloquial expressions/slang that widely differ. Starting with standard French/French from France is a great idea, eventually you can just start to incorporate French-Canadian audios in your language journey and you'll be good to go!

I've been doing French everyday for about a month now and I've been primarily using:
    1. Pimsleur French
    2. Busuu
    3. Anki
    4. Passive learning through YT videos
Pimsleur for conversational French, vocab and a heavy focus on pronunciation, and some grammar that's indirectly taught through listening.
Busuu for vocab and grammar mostly. Doesn't really teach you how to put together words and phrases to create complex sentences like Pimsleur does, but does have conversational sentences that you can memorize and use for yourself.
Anki to create flash cards for new vocab I wanna memorize, difficult sentences to form and being able to remember how to use certain words in a certain context of a some conversation
YT is for even more vocab, grammar lessons, pronunciation and just overall improving how I hear the language, much like Pimsleur. Anything I might like and would wanna memorize, it goes into my Anki to review later
I'm looking to also listen to CoffeeBreak French and using Assimil French as well. Will slowly include those

    • @nanonkay5669
      @nanonkay5669 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@sadiakhattak6576 Pimsleur is good if you wanna work on conversational fluency the most, in my opinion. There's a lot of shadowing and anticipation, together with spaced repetition. It teaches you how to construct sentences and trains your ears to the language. I'm about a third way through level 4 but I'm by no means fluent lol. But you'll have a good idea of how to say something if you think about it for a little. It covers most of the basics too.
The pricing is really high, but there are ways of getting all 5 levels for free if you search the internet thoroughly lol. That's what I did
