The Road King Standard is one of the most iconic motorcycles Harley Davidson has ever built. The Road King Standard embodies what a Harley Davidson should look like in its purest form.
I have a 2021 also, and they are more comfortable in the suspension than all the other touring bikes, it eats up highway miles much better. It's Harleys best. I'm not into sound systems and bologna, when I ride I ride to disconnect, not to listen to songs I heard a thousand times. I put a solo seat on mine so hags don't ask for rides.
I bought a 2022 FLHR. It was delivered at the end of May 22. Awesome Machine. The M8 107 is just incredible! And it's true , you do not notice the weight at all. I am a happy camper, man ...

Beauty of a bike mate. I will buy myself a Roadking as a retirement present to myself. Personaly, I've had enough Black bikes in my lifetime (I'm 62), so I will pay the dollars for the two tone. Midnight crimson with stone washed white pearl really appeals to me. Unfortunately in Australia, we may not get the RK standard until next year which really sucks!! I will be patient because the RK is my dream bike and in 47 years of riding, I have never entertained the thought of owning a Harley, EXCEPT for the RK. Will keep my Vstrom 1000 as it allows me to have some off road fun, but the RK will certainly be my full on touring machine. Thanks for the video mate, thoroughly enjoyed it. Greetings from Oz, and subbed. Ride safe brother.
This is, in my opinion, the best bike for a riding purist who wants to eat up lots of miles. I love chrome. And, nothing has better contrast to chrome than black. BEST LOOK in Harley’s lineup and you save money for getting the best. Always a plus to save money!
I have the same exact bike. I currently have 800 miles on it. Hopeputting a stage one on it within 2 months. Went from a street glide to this. No regrets. Located in Northen Oregon.
Had a 2006 RK Classic and absolutely loved it. I currently own a 2016 FLSTC in Vivid Black and a 2010 Ultra Limited. For sure the next bike I get will be another Road King to add to the collection. There’s just something about the way a Road King makes me feel when riding one. You made a great choice. I too love the classic look of chrome.
Congratulations! I just traded my standard for a special last week. I don't have the new one home yet but when I do I'll start making content about it.
I just picked up my 2020 RK standard in White Pearl with the RDRS option. Added Custom Dynamics all around, Mustang seat with backrest. Love it! Great pick-enjoy!
Bought a 2021 Road King standard in black this spring after riding a 07 vstar 1100 for 4 years. After my first ride I named her Gladys cause my ass was so glad after riding the Road King. Love it and looking forward to lots of miles on her. Enjoy your bike and be safe!
Just caught your video, Feb, 23. I bought the same exact same bike labor day 22. I Absolutely Love it Too!. And way over all my other Ultras and Street Glides!.
Loved your video. I’m from Boston. I was stationed at Camp Pendleton for four years. I laughed when you mentioned that LA can be cold in the winter. We ride all year out here. We like the heated gear. I have 2019 SG. I changed everything including paint. Big bore kit, etc. Recently bought 2014 RK with 1,100 miles on it. Absolutely love it! It’s perfect stock. No need to do anything to except put gas in it. (I added sissy bar, LED’s, highway pegs) I miss the great canyon rides and Pacific Coast highway rides. Enjoy, congrats!
I currently ride an Electra Glide in vivid black right now. I also currently ride a GoldWing GL-1800 which I also love. I have owned six different Harley’s over the years and my favorite was the 98 EVO Road King which I regret selling. If Harley ever quit making the Road King it would be over for them.
Just traded my bobbed out 07 Street Bob for a Blacked Out 2021 Road King Special. Hated to trade my pride n joy but the Road King is a beast!! One of my favorite rides.
I love Road Kings...I have one...I also love chrome...however, after several decades of riding, black is my least favorite color for a motorcycle...don't get me wrong, black & chrome is a classic combo that'll never go out of style & one of my current bikes is black & chrome, (not my Road King though), but I also feel it's been done to death...biggest, most popular color for a motorcycle is black...it dominates every motorcycle event I've ever been to...I've never gotten to order a brand new bike, but if I did, it wouldn't be black...that being said, that's an awesome, shiny new Road King! Awesome bikes no matter what color you choose...👌🏿😎👍🏿Also, I bought a 15" Memphis Shades windshield for my Road King, much better than that clear billboard they put on them from the factory...
1st Congrats! 👍 2nd Your riding is making me nervous, from a fellow So Cal rider too. 3rd At the near end of my $$$ TC Street glide performance bagger build, Id of gone with a RK from the start over a SG. T bars, FXRT fairing from the get go. Lighter build in the end and a bike not everyone is riding in So Cal ( Road Glide and Street Glide)...
Beautiful bike. I have been looking at a very low mileage Road King at my local HD dealership at Nottingham U.K. (Robin Hood HD). I will take chrome over the blacked out look any day. You can’t polish a bike too much.
You got it, black and chrome are awesome! I am buying myself a Road King. I am waiting for 2022 to come out to see what it will look like. I have had three Harleys all black and chrome, I am so glad black is no cost Lol, I will change to 16" apes, stage 1 and 2, pipes, seat, razor tour pack, highway pegs, taller shield, for starters! Enjoy your bike there is so much you can do to a Road King to make it one of kind. See you on the road, I am in Florida, take care.
I have the same 2021 RK in midnight crimson/pearl white. Your review is spot on with all points my friend. Agree on two up riding as well. I upgraded from the 2015 Heritage and this thing is a dream! Safe riding!
It is just a matter of time for me to pick up a Vivid Black 2021 Road King also, but my other side is also yearning for the Road Glide Special in Billiard Teal color, but the cost/price is keeping me at bay...lol, thanks for sharing
The Road King is an awesome motorcycle. It came down to the Heritage Classic or Road King for me and I went with the Heritage Classic 114 but could have easily chosen the Road King. Great review and ride safe in the wonderful LA traffic!
I have the same bike beautiful bike but I have to tell you it doesn’t have 92 hp it has 78 hp stock! You will have to cam it to get over 90 hp! Enjoy it lots of luck! 👍💯🇺🇸😎
The road king is great.. probably the best motorcycle Harley ever built.. but the street glide and road glide are pretty much the same with the notable exceptions regarding the fairings.. but in 20 years,,what will the farings be like? Will the technology in the faring be like an 8 track back in the 80s when they became obsolete.. a road king won’t have that problem.. I’m considering a road king, maybe a road glide, maybe a lowrider st..
Congratulations on your new ride! I am thinking about a RK or RG. But leaning more towards a RK. Then the decision between standard or special. Both are great looking bikes but a tough choice for sure.
congrats on your new bike. If you live in California you will have a very hard time buying performance upgrades for your ride. If you live outside California, the very least is doing a stage one upgrade. Vance & Hines is a good way to go.
I have a 18 Deluxe. Yes I love chrome too but I don’t understand why you fall in love with a model and then want to change so much. When I bought mine used it had 1471 miles on it in 2020. Passenger legs, engine guard and muffler were changed. I might do new grips oh I put a pillion seat on but that’s it. Ride safe
I love Road Kings. Mine is a 2017. I'd get another just like it. Get a Mustang seat. I'd try not to replace the shield until you do (your position will change with the seat). I find that slip-ons are enjoyable most of the time, but on a really long ride I'd rather have the stock quiet mufflers.
I agree, mustang seat is worth it. Had one on my heritage and have a deep dish one on the King, don’t even need a back rest. New shocks are coming in about a week and I’ll be riding like an 80s Oldsmobile...

I have a 2016 Road King and LOVE it! Have been thinking of getting an Ultra Classic but being a heavier bike, just not sure. Road King is lighter and feels more manageable. Mine is black as well.
I have just sold my Ultra Classic & bought a RK Std. I am loving how much lighter the front end is. I didn't use the radio in the Ultra, so not missing it. My lady is missing the tour-pak, though, so I may get a cheapy off eBay. The stock RK seat is a bit lower, which means my knees are a bit higher, which in turn means a bit more pressure on my coccyx. I loved the seat on my Ultra but it wasn't pretty.
Thanks for the video! I have a 2010 Police Road King and have been thinking about getting rid of it. I had not rode it for a while and had to take it into the shop to get a new battery and break flush etc. I rode it back from the shop and it brought back all of the feelings and reasons that I purchased the bike. I have been looking at reviews such as your and seeing the new RK makes me think about it and like the new bike as well. HD makes the best cruisers and no one comes close particularly RK. Like you I like bikes so it is not a Harley thing but it is the truth. I was thinking about getting a different bike because of the weight and wanting an all arounder with the ability to ride some distance if needed. Your thought! BTW I put a Corbin seat on mine. Thanks
