I Love my new 2022 vivid black!. Just past 900 miles, I Like it a whole lot better than my recent past 2 street glides and my ultra!. I think it handles way better, more power, speed and i can see the road way better too!. I wont go back to a full fairing bike again!!. The best thing i did was install the front fork wind deflectors, Cuts out the wind flow comming up from under the windsheild and hitting me square in the face.. What a difference!!.
Beautiful motorcycle. I was very impressed with the ride. Would like to know if there is any difference in the real suspension between the Road King and the Street Glide. Wahoo!
@@forgottenmotorcycles Your Q... Answer YES!, The Road King has 1 inch longer shocks. The Street glides, Road glides and Ultras all have 1" shorter shocks, Basically to give them a lowered, cool look... Thats why I believe the Road King Handles better, The bike is more evened up from front to back. Also it's not carrying all that foward excess dead weight, Like not just the fairing, but radio, speakers, instramatation that are further forward and up high, And making the Center of gravity worse. Other wise their all the same bike/frame from the triple tree back.. Last, The left rear shock is where you make the load adjustment. When i picked my bike up new at the dealer it was set all the way to the bottom or near zero and didn't know it. What a rough 30 mile ride home. felt like the bike was bottoming out!. I Turned up the knob to 10 and what a difference!. Smooth! I think it goes to 20 in the adjustment range.. Last, why pay 30K+ for all that extra crap and weight ya don't need. I love this bike!..
@@crockett11000 I really enjoyed riding this one. Very smooth and plenty of power too. At this point it's my favorite large frame Harley. Today we take the street glide for a run.
I’ve had 6 Harleys, RoadGlides, ElectraGlides, my ‘05 Road King is the bomb. Great handling and lots of fun even though it has the stock 88ci motor. Just an awesome Bike.
I'm blessed to own 3 motorcycles. I love my Street Glide and its such a fun bike to ride, and travel with. BUT, I love the simplicity of my Road King and ability to see the road in front of me minus a fairing. When I want a sore back and rattled teeth, I take out my 83 shovelhead, LOL
It’s absolutely Beautiful!! I just bought my first Harley at 56. I thought I was gonna jump on a Road Glide and ride away, Haa Haa. I ended up getting a used Sport Glide which was a much better starting Harley for me. A couple years experience and I’ll get on a big dog! I love mine which also has the 107. Sweet Engine.
I've got a 1999 first year twin cam Road King standard...& mine was built in 1998 & first sold in September of '98, which makes it one of the first of the first TC 88s out there...factory two tone Laser Red Pearl w/Vivid Black...still running good & traveling the highway at 24 years old...of the 3 Harleys I've owned over the years, this one has been the most dependable...certainly hasn't been trouble free, but it hasn't been troublesome either...even my '08 CVO Electra Glide had more problems than this one...one of the best riding motorcycles I've ever had too...certainly built for putting miles of highway behind you....when it's not eating a crank position sensor...Lol!
I'll be posting ride vids with it soon, but I'm still trying to work out some audio issues before I can start moto-vlogging...I sold the CVO a couple years ago...it was all for the best...thing always had something going wrong with it...🖖🏿😎👍🏿
Fell ass over teakettle in love with the vivid black and gauntlet gray. Fabulous motorcycle. I upgraded with Custom Dynamics Adaptive LED Headlight and passing lights, ProBEAM LED turn signals, and LED brake light with the Triple Play module. Later added the LED fog lights with the amber lens. Put Rinehart 4” slip-ons to round things out.
Nice review. I traded my 2010 Street Glide in on a 2020 Road King Standard in Stone Washed White Pearl. Love it. It's all we need with great visibility, and excellent power. Doing a suspension upgrade soon, however to Wilburs. Would recommend to anyone.
Love the Road King, best handling of the big bikes for sure. Has great looks, visibility and so smooth too. It's one of the few bikes out there that I like in white. Congratulations! What is Wilburs?
2022 Harley in their infinite wisdom, decided to go up in size with the wheels…. The bigger the wheels (the less tire sidewall you have) , the less suspension you have… glad I bought the 2019… yes, it’s actually got tires on it😂
I love Road Kings, I have two, but I'm very sad they quit making the classic Road King. I have driven my across country a couple of times with no issues and very comfortable.
Love that RK. This Standard RK was so smooth, easy going and fun to ride. Excellent visibility and ultra low center of gravity. Possibly my favorite HD. Wahoo!
I owned a 2019 Road King special with 114 and now own a 1998 Heritage Springer softail and the ride is so different on each bike… When I drove the Road King I sat up on top of the bike whereas when I drive the Softail springer I’m sitting down into the bike…The wind buffering on my Road King was so strong I ended up buying a Memphis Shades ferring which helped with buffering. The Springer has a windshield however I prefer to ride it without the windshield because the way the frame is designed I’m sitting low on the bike and 70% of the wind is not even hitting me in the chest unlike the Road King where 100% of the wind hit me in the chest and face. I sold my Road King Special in vivid black and kept the older Heritage Springer with an EVO engine…The Milwaukee 8 engine is very quick off the line and felt like I was driving a 800 lb sport bike in a Harley badge. The Springer has a Carburetor, starts up like my Snow Blower with a carburetor, she idles different than the electronic fuel injection system and actually sounds more nostalgic versus the newer models with a more metric bike sound. My brother owned the Heritage Springer since buying her new in 1998 and now I own her. She’s got a smooth shift smooth take off and all the power is in the mid and top gears. My brother worked at a local Harley dealership and had the engine, transmission and sprockets completely modified to push nearly 90 horsepower with no issues whatsoever. She was one of the best bikes he owned, he owned this one and also a 100th anniversary Glide. Video of her on my channel
Harley Davidson has done some really nice upgrades with the newer Road Kings. In contrast, I have an old Road King that I will not part with anytime soon in the foreseeable future. The Harley Davidson Road King is one of the most elegant, stylish and archetypical Harley Davidson motorcycles ever produced and forever etched in HD's rich history of motorcycle designs. The Road King is the personification of a Harley Davidson icon. Road King stands supreme and has no equal. Those select riders who own one are indeed privileged. I own a 2003 Road King Classic, 100-Year Anniversary Edition, with the Screaming Eagle engine upgrade from an 88 V-Twin to a 95. The fast producing torque and sound is exhilarating. My Road King with its original anniversary Two-Tone Sterling Silver and Vivid Black paint colors stands out. The commemorative medallions seen throughout this ride's sculpted design adds to its nostalgia, mystique, and exclusivity.
Fuzzy Biker, if my biker buds see this review, and, spot me visually "drooling" at the Road King Standard-especially in the midnight crimson, they'd be dragging my butt to the dealership, and, treating me to it-all pimped out-to boot! Great video presentation, nice work! Doug🏍️🧸🐻👍
@@forgottenmotorcycles don't get ANY idea of contacting my buds, and, showing them this video and text action! I know them well, and, they'd be all over the very idea of The Road King Standard in mid-night crimson under my butt! What's scary is:they wouldn't hesitate to have a leather riding out-fit custom made for me, to match!😵😱 Doug, maybe I'm a glutton for punishment-I hope they DO see it! I want to see if they react how I think they will!
It is still the best looking bike Harley makes! I have a 22 RKS. Didn’t want to be married to a bulky fairing. It is hard to justify the RK now when you can get the fancy new liquid head cooled 117 and other SG and RG updates for like 2K more than a RK. It’s the RK’s 30th Anniversary and not a peep from HD about it. But for riders like me that don’t want to be married to a big fairing and don’t care about being a king of the baggers wannabe and don’t want to be the 100th SG or RG to roll up to bike night and don’t care about the fancy screen, still a place for the RK. And its roots go way back to the Duo Glides and Electra Glides of the 60’s. It’s what you think of when you think Harley.
Only complaint in the tiny grey info bar on the guage. I understand its trying to be old school but wow it looks terrible like an old timex watch. It could have the same gauge layout as the Slim or Heritage and still get away with being old school
Yep best bike they HAD. Its gone, no longer selling it. I don't understand what they are doing, or thinking. Maybe its a way to get people in the Pan America?
Love it and it's the big twin I would get but unfortunately the big twins are too large and heavy for me at 5'6'' and 135 lbs. Will stick to my Sportser 1200 Low (with lots of chrome) for now and possibly a Dyna or older Softail in the future.
I agree, but the only thing it's missing is production....they're no longer made! The current Road King Special is an insult and a joke. It don't ride anything like a Road King. You feel every bump in the road when riding Harley's current poor excuse for a Road King. Harley built a cheaper bike and charges far more than it's worth. Fewer and fewer guys in their 50s and 60s are buying big twins, so Harley is appealing to the younger riders who have no want of anything with a traditional classic look. End of an era. Enjoy your ride. The Classic was the best of all Road King models.
Not fairing.....windshield. My 2011 RK has more of a beach bar (which is stock). I do not like the new RK special crash bar, nor the lack of Chrome. Also, without the highway lights it just blends into the rest of the HD bikes.
