    I was hoping someone could help me out by answering some of my questions. I’m finishing up my bachelors degree at a cal state, I’m majoring in biology with a minor in microbiology. I was a pre-med throughout most of my undergrad until recently so I took a lot of medical related coursework. I have become interested in becoming a CLS or MLS & was wondering if I would have to do a post-bacc in order to complete any missing requirements? Or if I have enough qualifications where I could take a board exam & become licensed? Thank you in advance!

    • @freddyluis2i
      @freddyluis2i 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or would I have to enroll specially into a CLS/MLS program to be able to enter this field?

    • @richardgunn6353

      Hey bro. You should look into George Washington university. They have an online post bacc certification program for students who hold a bachelors in biology or chemistry. I have my bachelors in biology as well and will be applying to the program to get my ascp license

    Thank you for a very informative video 😊 I was just wondering whether an agency (such as medpro) is necessary for you to work as medtech at the US or not. Kasi in other vloggers po they always mentioned the agency that helped them be employed in the US.

    • @elissascotland6100
      @elissascotland6100 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Having a direct-hire recruitment company helps facilitate the process. The agency usually does some vetting of the medtech and gives guidance about the pros and cons of a particular location. Agencies are usually more helpful with the transitional stage - especially once the medtech arrives in the USA. The agency I work for has a specialist who helps people get their driver's license, open a bank account, and provide other support.

      Hello 👋
      Tbh, I’ve been getting DMs regarding this as well. I think this is a website issue, you can try contacting ASCP’s customer service and ask for more information about it po. At this point po kasi i don’t think there’s something we can do about it ☺️

    Hello! Is it really necessary that it should be 1 year internship or is it equivalent to 1 year work experience?

    • @itsmattem
      @itsmattem  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In my opinion, if you are a current MLS student and 1 year internship is easily accessible. It would be faster to take 1 year of internship, then take the PH board exam, ASCPi and CA CLS License.
      If in case you already did take the 6 months internship, you could start working for at least one year as a CLS (local or abroad) performing high complexity testing. Training and/or work experience should cover ALL (excluding histopathology) areas of the clinical laboratory.

    Hi po! I saw from the website po that taking 3 units of physics is required before applying for a CA CLS license but my school doesn’t offer any physics class under the BSMT program huhu. Did you go back to school for just the one physics class po?

    • @itsmattem
      @itsmattem  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Actually physics is a part of the old curriculum of BMLS. I actually talked to my college dean about this and they said you can take physics as an extra subject since my university doesn't do block sections. High chance of being delayed but I think the pay off in the end is worth it.
      I would advise for you to ask your dean about this so that you can know about your options.

    Chicken Sandwich! Hi, Matt just wondering if tertiary hospital experience actually matters? :( I only have a year experience working but they don't stand as tertiary (but! I had a year internship experience in tertiary hospitals. I'm hoping that counts). I'm really aching to go abroad and I'm scared my chances are low, but I've already set my heart on it. The only requirement I have left is IELTS and I'm taking soon. I honestly just went for it and I'm kinda worried. All the best xx

      Hello 👋 If you have the same visa as mine (IR-2), your into chances getting in especially without a tertiary hospital experience are okay (like me). But as far as i know the work visa (H1b) requires people to have experience in a tertiary hospital.

    I did before the board exam at my country there and I sent it translated to Florida board but they replied back that the document is not enough .
    Also ,they asked for employment verification form : which is verification of clinical laboratory experience. I had 1 year experience at my country but does it count here at US?? Because you mentioned that wherever happens , I should have 1 year internship here !!! So is it worth it to send to them my experience aboard ??
    In addition to that , what is national exam ??
    Excuse me I have alot of questions 😫
    But really I need some assistance and help , because there is lot of requirements.
