- Racing pigeons breeding for 2022 is underway! Watch to see how we put our pairs together to minimize fighting between different cocks and bullying of the hen by the cock. We are excited and hopeful as our racing pigeon breeding season starts and wish all our pigeon fancier friends the best of luck for the 2022 pigeon breeding and pigeon racing season!

Thanks James that was really helpful. The pigeon food and supplement industry is mind blowing and I have yet to get my head around it. I don't race my birds but want to ensure they are in good health.I feed mine a good quality general feed. a Probiotic and Harkers 4in 1 monthly. If there was one or two supplements you would recommend what would they be ?
Sounds like you are doing a good job keeping them healthy! Providing clean water, a good feed, and minerals + grit along with a clean loft and good air circulation provides the foundation to good health. Giving a probiotic regularly is important too (so good job there). I have started adding apple cider vinegar to the water 2x a week (provides a slightly acidic gut pH which is important for promoting the good bacteria). My only suggestion beyond that is maybe hold back on the 4 in 1; over medicating leads to weaker immune systems. I vaccinate for both PMV and paratyphoid/salmonella, deworm them once a year, and use ivermectin drops to control for external parasites. If i notice a bird looking sick I will isolate it and try to treat it. I also try to look down their throats when I do handle them to check for canker. One major thing that my birds don't get enough of is sunlight. I need to build and aviary so they have more opportunity to bask in the sun. Keep up the good work and keep us posted!
Thank you very much for your answer. Regards
You are welcome
Verry nice 👍👍👍👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Happy New year
Thanks Kenneth!!
Same to you and yours!
Hello, what are the dimensions of a single sleeping cell and what thickness of plywood are they made of? They are great. Regards👍
Thank you! They are 15x15x23.5 inches and made of 1/4 inch plywood
Awesome
Thanks! Appreciate it! Happy New Year!
I hope you have agreat year🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️❤️
Thank you my friend!!
Nice birds
Oh thank you!!
What does that section of your loft measure? How many pairs in there?
It’s about 6 x 10 feet. There are 9 pairs. Hope you are well!
th-cam.com/video/ljzZIYLrHzU/w-d-xo.html
May I ask what is the size of each "room" per pair of pigeons? Thank you and all the best to your breeding...
awsome loft
Thank you so much! It took me 3 months to build!!

where you from
I’m from Utah, but I currently live in Maryland. Where are you located?
What size is your loft?
15 x 10 feet 👍🏻
Have these birds mated together in the past?
About half were new pairings
How do the males know when its there turn to fly up?
Because the hen is placed in their nest box. They simply fly up to their own territory. Good question
ahhh now I understand. Thanks.@@RFRP
Hello James Thanks for your earlier reply it helps understanding. Do you limit the number of clutches a hen lays in a year. I had a hen lay early january and is showing all the signs of mating again which I think is too soon, could you comment please?
My pleasure! That hen is right on track; perfectly normal timing for another round. Pairs will go down on eggs about every 40-45 days. So it is not too soon. However, raising youngsters is demanding so most breeders limit the number of rounds. I typically do 4 rounds per pair and then separate the cocks and hen for 4-5 months. You can also replace a newly laid set of eggs with a set of fake eggs to limit the number of rounds parents are raising. If I'm not ready to separate cocks and hens at the end of the breeding season that is what I do. Good luck and keep me posted!!
Is it really 1/4 inch. It's about the thickness of the plywood
Ha! I think I was mistaken-I believe it is 1/2 inch.
Happy breeding
Thank you 🙏🏼 Where are you watching from?
@@RFRP morocco north of africa
Morocco!! That is awesome! 🇲🇦 I have heard that they have extreme long distance pigeon racing over there. Is that true?
@@RFRP
In Morocco we have all the specialties. Speed, middle distance, long distance and extrême long distance, also famous and international blood ligne, jaan arden, carteus, van dommelen, muller, hermans, Dimitri, vandenabeele, jelle jellema, lambrechts, muelemans and many others.
All those blood ligne coming from Europe since it is not far from us
I hope one day your name will be among those greats 🙏🥇🏆🏆
Oh you are so kind!!! 🥰 Thank you, and keep in touch!
I hope to understand all the talk. I am a beginner in learning the language too. I do not have someone to practice the language with, till not forgotten the words.
Thanks for the comment! Your English is good! I could provide subtitles in Arabic if that is helpful. Thanks for following and good luck with your pigeons and learning English.
How many times in box after pairing ?
Thx
Once they are paired the boxes are opened up and the birds can go in and out as they choose
👌👌👌
Thanks my friend!
Where I can buy nest boat breeding like that
I wish I knew!! I could not find any like this for sale in the US so I made mine.
not enough stand/perches for the birds.?
Thanks for the comment! I don’t have extra perches in that section because I want the birds to perch on their nest boxes
Um abraço do Brasil!!
Thank you 🇧🇷
What can I do to pair my pigeon?
Get a pigeon of the opposite gender, get a nest box and bowl and they usually pair up on their own.

Thank you my friend!!
To the Robertson family: can you help me? I'm a pigeon breeder (English Trumpeters) I need birds to outcross my birds with, but all 7 of the people I have bought birds from have sold me what looks like cull birds with crooked wings. I'm paying about $100 each on average, but it appears that all I can find for sale are birds that probably would have been euthanized if I hadn't bought them. I've had my birds 45 years, and until the last 15 years never had a problem purchasing birds with straight wings.
That seems very odd, Ken! Sorry to hear that. I am not familiar with English Trumpeters so cannot offer any meaningful advice. Sorry, and best wishes going forward!!
Sorry, I'm Polish and I counted the inches, I don't know if it's correct, it's somewhere around 6.35 mm
✅
I would’ve let them pick there MATE instead of selecting it for them. They might not like the male they are with and I feel as though they should choose for themselves not THRU YOU!
Thanks for the comment! I appreciate your perspective even though we disagree. They actually bond quite quickly. As a breeder, it’s my job to select the pairings in an effort to produce the most physically and mentally fit offspring. I know these individual birds better than anyone, including their flaws and how to best compensate for that in their offspring by choosing an appropriate mate. Always trying to improve my family of birds. Thanks again for voicing your opinion!! ❤️
Exactly ,well said pairing winners will always breed winners, these are not your ordary homing pigeon, these are racing birds, selective breeding is the the best and only way to breed the champion that you want.good pairing James.
.
You have brown pigion
I don’t have any brown or red pigeons yet. Maybe soon. Do you?
We just had some 20 below zero weather with more on the way later this week. So will be a little while yet before I let my birds breed! LOL! But I have had a pair raise babies in February without issues in the cold. But I like waiting till March. Anyhow thought I'd share my clip on how to keep those nest pads in the nest bowls. Best of luck with your breeding season! I enjoy the videos. th-cam.com/video/CtzNX3x32gU/w-d-xo.html
Thanks Russell! Wow, -20 doesn’t even register on my personal temp scale! When I grew up in Utah I also waited until February to pair up the birds. I’ll check out your vid-thanks for sharing!
