If you pay close attention, the entry door on experimentation shows the inside of the hallway you walked down while other maps don't. I would assume it was the first level created and the plan was to have the door open all the way. However I suppose with random map seeds that may have been more difficult to have it always sync up to the door so they instead opted to teleport the player to the entrance and just simply didn't remove the old work.
You used to take an elevator to get into the facility. There's some old videos from before release where you can see a more complete version of that area in use, but since it got scrapped I supposed everything but the level geometry and collision was removed
@@Fa1seP0sitive I would love to eventually have a moon where we all jam into an elevator and it takes longer, and you don't know what's going to happen on either side on the way in or out.
Probably a scrapped idea for an interior of the factory and this 'door hole' in the building we used to get inside of was a fire exit. Right now the game stores randomly generated dungeon underneath the map. But maybe original idea was to store and generate it inside the building?
i think the ladder is a way to get back if you find your way out of bounds, as i found it particularly easy to on that map. if you just circle around eventually you'll find that ladder and you can get back in
Looking at old development videos and screenshots, and even the old teaser trailer for the game. It's 100% the old dungeon crawler type game it used to be, powering an elevator, going to deeper floors, etc. I really do hope in the future we get some kind of alternate gamemode though with this past beta/alpha content though.
Experimental really lives up to its name, it was very experimental, this area just shows the idea of that before having the player randomly teleport to another location so the dungeon wasn't bound to the confines of the building size.
This is a total guess : I think its not meant to be accessible and is there on all levels. I think its to help speed up loading (so you sort of pre-load the interiors). Also as worlds are randomly generated on landing its probably an easy way to sync levels from host to clients.
could also be the original layout for the map, before the creator chose to make it randomly generated maps or even to playtest the enemy movements on the map etc since its mainly flat walls, holes and etc wich is what the enemies see as playable area.
It was 100% the original map layout before other maps and procedural gen was used. I don't think its on any other maps and I don't think it would help with pre load since it looks nothing like the actual inside and is not random.
looks like a placeholder, but could go hard as fuck if it was repurposed. i'd love the game to have lore tidbits scattered across nooks and crannies like this one.
Just looking at it, I'd say it pretty much is cut content, or future content. I would assume that in older builds you actually just opened the door to explore the insides rather than teleporting to the random seeded interior that we have in the EA build currently. Cool, but nothing meaningful.
I think since you can find your way to the main doors it may be the interior of the buildings with loaded geometry, but unloaded textures. It's probably a performance optimization tool, opening the door is likely what prompts the loading and unloading of textures, so if you don't trigger the door, you don't load the textures.
Maybe it the facility was meant to be on the same map as the outside area before the procedural generation was used. Strange we can still access it though.
hey! just wanted to give some feedback on the vid, you might wanna make your voice a little louder, its quite quiet, especially compared to the music and gameplay ^^
i think its just his practice for when he made everything and where he is testing things, I'm sure the assets are only loaded if he puts something specific in the code, the collision probably isn't too hard on the game so its forgotten. other people have said preloading, which, I mean maybe? it seems weird that it would be placed there and not under the map like in gta5 it could also be a deserted area by the developer that is an artifact of him making the first planet but then realizing if every map was the same it wouldn't be as infinitely replayable hard to say for sure but those are what I thought/saw in the comments
it's not really a secret the entire building is one single mesh, the dev ain't maked it, he bought it, the entire scene is filled with hidden and invisible things due of testing or preloading 1:24 it's not holes and walls, theres just an invisible collider in the shape of a ramp, there is supposed to be stairs but they was disabled
Id imagine it was placeholder used for testing before procedural level genration was used.
100% this.

The level is called experimentation and it was made by one guy.
Clearly this was what he used to experiment with the game when designing it.
That's a cool easter egg, it's literally called that, because this was his test map lol.

Or before it was randomly generated there was one set interior used for testing
@@hoonfox5087 this is what i think

Kind of wished they used more of this interesting designs and stuff inside the building.
Probably rooms for testing from when he was developing the level.

There's so much empty space on some moons that it feels like being outside the map, it adds a lot to a creepy atmoshere))

Here before you blow up, keep it up! Ill be watching

Yea that's what I was thinking too, and it would make sense as it's only on the first map and the rest seem to have no inside.
Strikes me as an early iteration of the interior complex!
love these vids man keep it up
Tyty :]
I like the idea of adding a new area that is a scientific facility and inside there could be windows that can be broken by anyone
This seems like it has some potential for future DLC's
also you had 129 subs upon clicking this video, you had 131 when I reloaded page
You can do this with just a single ladder and no jetpack.
That's why the moon is called Experemenation ahahahahah
You can also get In with 1 ladder if you place it on the pipe behind you
I wonder if this will be related to the lore in the future

Everything you said was wrong
Those empty rooms kinda remind me of the rooms in the upturned where you find shrimp.
Maybe I just missed the shrimp...
0:14 it looks like the old scrapped elevator place in the trailers.
this video shows how music sets the tone of the video. you could easily have made this a creepy exploration video.
Maybe it the facility was meant to be on the same map as the outside area before the procedural generation was used. Strange we can still access it though.
There used to be an elevator here. Everything is invisible because the meshes are missing. Check the original trailer.
I’m going to surprise my friends by going behind the front door
It looks suspiciously like the area from one of the early footage videos showing the team going down an elevator.
maybe this map was built around a test map
Could have been used for the prototype of this game when it was an elevator, and not a ship taking you to each area.
The side door was the original fire exit
hey! just wanted to give some feedback on the vid, you might wanna make your voice a little louder, its quite quiet, especially compared to the music and gameplay ^^
this is literally just the original context of the backrooms
Life has many doors ed-boy

You could say he was conducting an _Experimentation_ with the map....
just watch the original teaser and you'll basically see what this was
How do you even find this 😭
I'm assuming just mods to get stacked and then you use the items to search moons. Seems fun.
Just the jetpack and alot of freetime lol
Why secret door like backrooms?
image find serect bunker and what worst surprise you with new monster extrement aggresion and nothing way out instead ''trap in bunker for forever''
it's not really a secret
