Love to see your generation boosting the Filipino culture all over the world! Shine Pilipinas. Kaya natin to... cheers to the milineals and the future of our country.
Mikey Bustos!! One of the early viral Filipino TH-camrs! Thanks for sharing his story. You guys are growing so fast as a channel and I’m loving it! Growing up in Missouri with a small Filipino Community, I sometimes felt alone with my experiences and feelings. But this channel helps me and other Filipinos realize we aren’t alone. Everybody jump on the boat! Tara na!
My 16 year old son is half Filipino and the reason he identified as white was because of the other Filipino kids hey grew up with bullied him for not speaking Tagalog and saying to him he’s not one of them. He used to cry everyday I picked him up from school. Now he’s found a balance and has embraced both cultures.
Had a highschooler during my OJT on the same building who can't or is very hard for her to speak in Tagalog. We spoke to her, she can understand Tagalog and knowing that, I know its not impossible for her to learn and speak the language more. Do not discourage they're want to be a Filipino but encourage them to embrace it and learn the language. That's how we treat foreigners who wanted to part of Filipino so why treat a half any different? I hope a lot more people understand this.
We really enjoyed this episode!! You guys are right, the camera loves Mikey! He’s so charismatic! And now we are fans of you too!☺️Thank you for sharing your story with the world🙌
I'm so proud to be a Filipino who lived abroad.Maraming Western people, they hardly smile and some not helpful, tayong pilipino kahit pobre sa ating bansa they always smile and very hospitality to the foreigners. Mabuhay pilipino.
Surfing TH-cam videos, came across this. My two Fil-Am boys, ages 4 and 7, as soon as Mikey came on, came over to avidly watch, and learn, about his story of wanting to be white. They were totally glued to the screen.
You guys are making me cry 😭 …I left when I was a teenager and lived in different countries, now my children all were born and raised here in Cali. It’s so funny watching my children try so hard to act Filipino and speak Tagalog, they never felt to be like a different race but instead they just carried their Filipino-ness everywhere they go. Remember these kids have never been to the Philippines but they will fight to be one.
I respect that. Doon sa mga mixed blood na ayaw kilalanin nà Filipino, feel free. Parents dont force your children.Let them be. Kaya naman namin na itindig ang pagkaFilipino
It feels so good to know that our new generation acknowledged it to themselves that being a Filipino no matter where you were born.,your hearts will always speaks to you how lucky and privileged you are as a Filipino…keep it in mind keep it in your heart.as I worked abroad for almost 40 yrs I could tell the difference between other nationalities. We are the lights that God wanted us to brighten the whole world so keep spreading the good in your hearts.
I love TheFilipinoStory and thoroughly enjoyed hearing Mikey‘s journey towards appreciating, and embracing his Filipino identity. These types of videos make me even prouder, knowing that there are others like yourselves who use their talents to showcase the Filipino culture. Awesome job, guys! Mabuhay kayo and mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
That's why I love being Filipino. I am blessed to have been born as Filipino. From the culture to people, I must say, I couldn't ask for more. Yes, there's some downside but every cpuntry has its own downside. But in Philippines, despite of these many downsides we were contented and able to share the love with each other. Our community is not boring. We know our neighbors. We share food, tools and etc. Filipinos are a very humble people whenever they go in compare to other ethnicities. Sorry guys but Ive been to many country due to my work and been with a lot of people but Filipinos way of welcoming is way more different and it's warmth. Plus, they're kinder and a happy-go-lucky people.
Thank you Mikey for reconnecting and loving your heritage. Thank you to both of you the creator of The Filipino story for your awesome and briliiant concept of spreading what a Filipino is and meant to be.
New subscriber here 😊 I’m discovering the country (my country) that saw me born and the country that I had to leave as a child; discovering the culture that makes my heart beat 🍀 Looking forward to be there soon.
Were your environment is what you carry in you, so growing up in Canada you developed the culture in you, no matter your not Canadian blood. I grew to learn Stateside culture bc raised as a military dependent, Dad in the Air Force. Then he got stationed on Guam raised very military minded. Later my Dad got ill & was medically discharged from the AF & moved out of the base & lived down Rte 15 in the backroad of the Base 26mins down the Village of Mangilao, Guam & lived their for (35yrs), retired at GovGuam & relocated to the USA since 2012 lived in several state & landed at Sacramento, Calif in 2022 till now. Easy to adapt at both places, learned my culture on Guam/Chamorro & being military dependent in states 🇬🇺🗽🇺🇸 …
O MY GOSH...I LOVE MB, TOO & thx so much for ur channel...ur animation is superb...that can help make a little kid understand at an early age about who we are as Filipinos!...hope❤ &🙏 that ur videos can get viewed to every Filipino in the planet...salamat ng marami for doing this. Keep it up...and God bless!👏👏👏🙏❤ continue the journey👣 bless ur hearts!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It was an honour to be featured in one of his videos omg kuya Mikey forever. He really taught me to stay connected to my roots from a young age while I was also struggling with my identity in the west 😭✨
it is awesome to know that the findings of my research paper about the Biracial Filipino YoyTubers (2022) (which Mikey Bustos were one among my research subjects) matched in the narrative of Mikey in this video!
I have a similar story. I was also born & raised in Toronto, my parents part of the first group to arrive in Canada in the early '60s. I was the only Flip in elementary school; the other non-whites were one Hong Konger & one East Indian. My Mom was friends at work with Mikey's Mom. For me, I wasn't ashamed to be Flip; I just wanted to be white like everybody else perhaps bc I was bullied and beaten by kids yelling racial slurs at me. I just wanted to blend in. But, like Mikey, I later realized I didn't need to want to be white anymore. It's about growing up, maturing, learning & getting comfortable in your own skin.

I just subscribed to this channel, so much interest in me sparked towards the Philippines just like how we used to be educated about Ph 🇵🇭 in those schooltimes ...
I was born in Canada and know more about Canadian history and north Americans than Philippines. I HAD THE EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE.!!!!...I can totally relate thank you for your video
I remember last year, on June 13th, while I was walking along the aisle to start to fall in line to board the plane, I saw Mikey Bustos buying coffee; I started anxious lol. In my mind, should I approach him or not? So I took a deep breath and the courage to approach him and asked him if it was okay to have a selfie with him. He okayed, and then the rest was history. He is one of the nicest😊.
Wow, another good piece of content you guys have. I think it's Filipino thinking that it's good if their skin is white, especially when you enter showbiz. They are forced to change their skin color because they can't get a job, especially in the film world. Yes, I have also watched Mikey Bustos do vlogs when he was still in Canada, and he was not famous at the time, but now he is a famous content creator already. I enjoy watching your blogs, guys, because they are different from other content and are centered on being Filipino. I also enjoy watching the animated series, and this animated series is very well done. Good job, guys. Keep it up.
Like Bustos, I grew up isolated from my people, in mostly American schools and communities. I have no shame in being Filipino. But I grew up estranged from my culture, outside of my immediate family. So I can understand his perspective.
No matter how long I have stayed abroad, no matter how some news here are imperfect anyways there's no such country that has no negativity even in a small way but still wanted to stay in my own country
that's what other half Filipino do not understand, just dont be arrogant when you come to the PH thinking you are above everyone else because the community does not like that. you have to blend in and have a harmonious relationship with your neighbors.

Mikey Bustos takes pride of his Filipino heritage but at the same time mocks the Filipino people with his tasteless, supposed-to-be-funny music videos that stereotype the Filipino culture using outdated quirks and overdone speech flaws. He's more of a Pinoybaiter than a Filipino. Just like Jokoy, but worse. I like his ant channel though. But i liked it less when I learned it was Mikey Bustos.
