I have always kept with the factory 40K fuel filter changes it comes out looking very clean but with the expensive common rail injector system its cheap insurance the 30 micron pre filter I do it annually and carry both spares on remote trips
The 30 micron is better at separating water from diesel also if you put a big restriction on the fuel supply the car ECU will put up a fault code regards Mike
Thanks for the video. How often do you change the factory fuel filter?

Why are you using the low micron one? I have the same but i am using the 15 micron as a pre filter. Any recommendations?

Do you fill the new filter with diesel before fitting it?
No I don't but you could it might save some pumping of the primer pump on the factory fuel filter
2017 it is a 2.4 or 2.8 TD?
2.8
After how many kilometers you changed your pre filter??
They are cheap and easy to change I swap mine out every year or 20,000 Kilometres its cheap insurance for a common rail diesel
Be good if we could see what your doing with the filter 🤷🏻
If you want to see how it’s plumbed in the Hilux I did a install video back in 2018
