Thanks, I was an ACFT fabricator for 20 years and am now retired and getting into auto fabrication for something to do while retired. I enjoy your channel.
TH-cam ad brought me here. Also from Spartanburg and being a car guy myself, can't believe I've never came across this channel. First video had me subscribing, great work.
I already knew i needed a metal brake for the shop and was planning for it. That was nice seeing why a teethed one is worth the extra money. The duhh moment came when you showed the magnetic angle finder. Damn, i need THAT tool ! Thanks for the video.
got one a whole lot like what you are showing found it on Craig's List for $600 came with a real nice home made stand Now I'm set / I won't need to buy another tool for the rest of my life !!
Thank you for the video and showing how to use the brake. Noticed on some of the pieces you showed there were indentations in the metal. How do you make those, bead roller? Subscribed
I noticed there are brakes that have holes on the lower portion for a piece of basically angle iron the helps bend the metal. I think they call it an apron ? Yours has the holes but it is removed. Is this just for extra leverage for thicker gauge metal ? I picked up a used Tennsmith brake that does not have them although it still retails at $900. They say its good for 22ga. Looks like the ones that have it are rated for 16ga.
I'm wondering if you can adjust how sharp of a bend, maybe better described, as a 90` bend with a slight radius. I haven't worked around aluminum much, so I don't know, if that sharp of a bend weakens it. Make it more prone to cracking?
Yo Kyle. New subber there. Love the channel. You have a small typo in this description. The first 2 links are titled 48 inch but the 1st one actually 24 inch. Thanks for the wealth of information on your channel. Keep it going!
and I'd be willing to bet it will make you lots of friends I noticed people got friendlier when I bought my truck then more people got more friendly after I got my welder
hey man just watching you video on the grey goose brakes an you were looking for parts to build your a arms, check out welder series you can Google them the have a fair amount of builder parts, hope that helps!! take er easy
@@Thefabforums thats true for non weldable aluminum like 7075,6065,2024 you can only Bend against the grain of the aluminum but mostly all weldable aluminum like 6061,7072 you can bend with the grain and you won’t get any cracking or breaking upon bending
Great video, Kyle!👍 I love sheet metal work and this tool is essential. I don't really have the space for one currently, but when the time comes, I will own a Magnabend brake. Awesome for those occasional trick radius bends. What you have there is perfect for 99 percent of stuff I'd ever need to make though, so it's definitely the best bang for the buck. Love the channel, brother! Keep up the great work!👊
I like it, looks simple and straight forward. Gonna build mine similar to it. Is it stable? Thinking maybe angle the legs a bit further out by a few inches.
Box and pan brake are the names, because that’s what they were designed to make. They use metal fingers. Goose head is useful, not not for most things.
This model is the worst pan brake I've ever used. It's an absolute piece of shit. The tooth steel is as soft as ally. Nothing is straight end to end. Trust me, don't buy.
Their called fingers not teeth. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ it called a finger brake or a box and pan brake. Not teeth And the thing you stuck the angle finder to is called the apron. If you going to do a video about a tool research the correct terms and parts of the tool
@@Thefabforums you can do what you want in your videos. You lose credibility with people in the industry when you’re making a video about a brake and then use all the wrong terminology when doing it.
@@mikeeagle2653 that may be true, but my goal isnt to gain credibility in the industry. It's to inspire the young guys and the best way to do that is to be relatible.

thanks Jeff...thats awesome
Awesome tool my friend. I worked in a sheet metal shop fresh out of high school and we always called them a finger brake.
yeah thats another name for it I guess
TH-cam ad brought me here. Also from Spartanburg and being a car guy myself, can't believe I've never came across this channel. First video had me subscribing, great work.

Good machine man
Makes a difference....good to make a change every now and then.

Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Excellent episode brother!
+Tim datoolman thanks
@The Fab Forums - what type of aluminum and gauge do you usually use for your projects?
Thank you for the video and showing how to use the brake. Noticed on some of the pieces you showed there were indentations in the metal. How do you make those, bead roller? Subscribed
Great job making other life easy and simple keep it up

The Fab Forums ....what can I say! I love toys, I mean tools!
Been waiting for this one. Keep stayin busy bro... love the channel. Best on TH-cam!!

A open ended pressbrake with cnc control is far superior. 👨🏭

Yeah I dont use mine unless I need too....with it removed you can do tighter work
So it is for bending heavier metal ?
Yeah i read you can do tighter reverse backbends without it too.
Can that break do a 180* 1/4" and 3/8" U bend? Awesome video! I'm trying to restore an old car, and this could be handy tool.
Hey man I've been watchin ur vids for years, but just now i TH-cam seal, kiss from a Rose and fab forum for was the ad. That's awesome man
+Alex Spangler lol...cool
Being from the UK I find it brilliant how over the pond you pronounce 'Lever' Haha
Great video though 👍
thanks
That's definitely helpful to mention the brake with the teeth.

+Al Cyr you can a little....the types of bends in this video don't weaken it as long as you are using the correct alloys
Thanks for the reply. After I posted, I thought I'm a dumb ass, aluminum is a softer metal. Should of deleted my comment, but I was curious.

I just got one of these from Craigslist. It's hardly used, $250. Xmas came early.
Hey nice vidya. Saw you made a 55-9 Chevy truck shirt. Stoked on that, going to order it now, cheers from nor-cal.

+T Stepp working on that
High great video, what sort of a brake would I require to make a rifle magazine please bud
Another great video with another fantastic tool, I've had one of these for a long time and like you said they pay for themselves when you use them.

welcome. thanks for watching
Nice job
Thanks Caiden
another good video. I like the cordless tool holder. missed that video, do you have a link?
I dont think I have one of that part specifically
Love your video.
Do you use the 48" often? or for someone starting a 24" would do the trick for car parts like the one you show.
+Samuel Paiement you want the 48 for sure
all right thank you
don't know if you mentioned the grain direction of the aluminum as to not to break the metal. keep up the Fab.
+Josh Demmitt I really depends on the alloy....what I use won't break

yeah its really dependent on alloy and width

Would love to see the stand you fabricated for it.
It was done by the guy I bought it from
I like it, looks simple and straight forward. Gonna build mine similar to it. Is it stable? Thinking maybe angle the legs a bit further out by a few inches.
I wanna see battery box when it's done!
I will have a full video on it
finger brake is slang. pan and box brake is proper name
u very right I need this tool, sadly can't have it
that sucks
Question what can I use to bend 14g metal.
I've always called these finger brakes.
Have you looked into goose-head finger brakes?
+theomnipresent1 I have
theomnipresent1 we always called them Box and Pan
thats what it is finger brake
Box and pan brake are the names, because that’s what they were designed to make. They use metal fingers. Goose head is useful, not not for most things.
Got any stickers coming out? Or did I not see em. I gotta get some more of mine made, so I'll send ya some when I get em. Red Rooster Garage Arcata CA
+Ted Theodore Logan yeah should have some more soon
What's the thickest piece of steel you used on it with ease?
+Alpha Ghost I don't really use steel on it...I mainly do aluminum. I will do some testing
I do need one but limited in space so I seteled for a press brake from Swag.
+thephranc those are great for the thick stuff as well
Another smaller budget friendly brake maybe the SWAG 20 TON Finger Brake Heavy Duty. It makes use of a Press you may already own in the shop.
+blkscorpion01 yeah they are good...more for plate steel vs sheet metal work
"regular"brake= cornice brake.
Amigo ayudame hasta cuanto de espesor dobla esa maquina dobladora atras de ti
Its Saturday FOOL ... LOL
where is this man's Hat? lol
+Keion Rajcoomar lol
Called a Finger brake
The only sad part is they show/use a miller welder😢
How they function 5:03
Can you buy narrower size fingers for it?
yes
Hair cut.....wow
no no hair cut...just no hat
The Fab Forums Lol!
Fingers
where's the Nissan gtr project
+DC 4Life at the track....running Formula Drift
they wont bend 3 mm aluminium which sucks for me.
yeah that twice as think as what I normally use
t'es enceinte mec ?
