People don't talk enough about the tasty ride articulations II throws in all the time, it's just... it's got that extra spice that makes the songs so revisitable
I agree! The flourishes he does between the ride and hi-hat are one of my favorite aspects of his playing. It adds so much to the groove of the songs without being intrusive or overbearing
Jaws parts were my favorite with all the ghost notes on ride and hats

His drumming just draws me so much more than others in the genre. It's has so much fluidity and push and pull. "be like water"
II has that intricate hi-hat play that initially drew me to Stewart Copeland.
I know we're here for II but thas bass player was also jamming in the background . I never even noticed until now. Sleep Token has been on my list of concerts to attend but I haven't made it yet, hopefully I get the chance to experience this in person one day.

I was there for this show, absolutely incredible. Aside from the overall vibe, lyrics/vocals... II is definitely what makes this band stand out. They're all excellent musicians, obviously, but II's drumming is what makes their songs really stand out and pop. It was so great to see them live and see that he's somehow possibly better live? Mind blowing. I wish I could go back and experience it again for the first time.

ii is hands down one of the best out there right now. He never plays things the same way twice and his fills are exciting. Also, ghost notes for days. Love him.

This is the first time I've heard III's bass tone. I'm a bassist/guitarist and never thought to seek it out because I keep seeking out II's videos 😅
Yeah his tone is so crispy and tasty. I never even noticed so much of this bassline in the studio track, it's sick to hear it now
As a bassist, I was also so pleasantly surprised to hear this incredibly crispy bass tone and what he's playing! I have to admit I had never really paid attention to it until now
I'm so stoked these cats are blowing up! Spotify randomly suggested them Sundowing while I was working at a hospital in 2019. They've been on endless rotation for me since then. They're slowly creeping up to Tieing Coheed as my favorite band. And II is slowly creeping up to tieing Josh Eppard as my favorite drummer. The groove man! I love prog rock, but without a solid foundation I just don't feel a drummers intent. II is about as solid as they come!

II brought back the feel to this kind of metal. Before Sleep Token, every freaking band was sounding the exact same, with the drums either 100% quantized using the same drum samples as eveyone else, or even entirelly programmed.

Something about II's technique is intriguing to me. I can't put my finger on but it's off the charts for me, anyway.
Saw them live on “ The Teeth of God Tour “ in Chicago he is absolutely in a class by himself right now very refreshing
Me too! It was my first time seeing and hearing the live in person and I was blown away by how clean their sound was. I keep saying no recording device (I've heard so far) can pick up just HOW good they all sound live. Even their background singers, Espera, sounded clear. It's like you could distinguish EVERYTHING happening on stage but they still blend together smoothly. The musicians and their team are talented as heck!

How does he get such a snappy, pure and round tone out of the snare, while simultaneously have it be so sensitive for ghost notes? Anybody know for shure?
Very high tensioned snare side for the articulation, the p77 already has a poppy tone add maybe a moongel, but most importantly crank it very high, higher than you might feel safe doing.
