also the synths and the melody on the guitar in the background, you bearly hear these on the studio recording. these in.ear mixed are awesome to discover more details
I saw them a few weeks ago in chicago and all my music nerd friends RIPPED me about how excited i was. They all claimed sleep token are "fake" and use backing tracks (which sure, they did, but everyone does nowadays). Basically told me that ST are the "WWE" of music. Having seen them live now and also hearing them [slightly] screw up live, they most definitely are not fake. Was super cool being able to hear III's bass tone in this video too though
@@roydied15 yeah i fully suport backing tracks for synths and stuff like that, maybe extra vocals. like if everyone’s playing their instrument and it sounds real and has proper good tone backing tracks are fully fine yk. people to close minded and judgy now days
@@jamesdavies6342 this seems like a pretty natural sound. I'm guessing the triggers are to change the tone for some of their more electronic sounding songs
His high hat work is fucking nuts. His big snare and bass work is incredible but it’s those subtle taps on the symbols and jazz notes. Him and Dane. Fucking egregious amount of talent.
I love the musicianship in this band, and being a bass player always admire great drummers, but I kind of overlooked II until the Drumeo interview and holy shit, now I can't get enough. The dude is unreal how he mixes so many styles and grooves like a mfer being in a metal R&B band lol. Fantastic footage!
Love this view! The groove on the hi-hats second verse mixed with the splash cymbals gives me chills every single time! Such good writing and complimentary of the vocals.
Without a doubt this guy must be Delta Empire. Same dexterity and groovy vibe on the cymbols. And definitely the same powerful snare sound. This could be the reason why Delta hasn't posted videos for a long time. Hope so...
What you are hearing are pre-recorded samples, not the sound he is playing. That's why it sounds so good. I'm not taking credit from the drummer. his quality is undeniable.
@@fbnplrm Let us see if you follow along and play well with others. Vessel II is still the best musical drummer out there!
@PatrickWitherow damn I bet that's beautiful! I can't afford that, but I have been looking heavily into the xist series and I think the brilliant 20" ride is gonna be my first Istanbul agop purchase. Hopefully soon because I'll have the money soon.

That snare isn't getting paid enough.
he is using rimshot... this technique makes the sound more beautiful...
I think those ghost notes need a full time job offer with healthcare benefits and profit sharing. 😄
Kick drum begging for recognition....
Looks triggered but the mix sounds like a bit of live drum is in there.
@@robaay6881There‘s a mic on there as well, maybe the trigger controls a gate.
I need a Netflix documentary on that snare.
At least you know it will be a true story.
90% drummer 10% snare
Seriously
Deftones snare goes well with all metal.
@@CamxCam. The triggers are most likely for the gates and the snare doesnt sound sampled at all and the dude plays like a machine
the ghost notes are insane...
His snare is definitely haunted. 👻👻👻
That snare is just satisfying
His whole kit is insane! I feel like if he played anything else itd sound so different since this is his signature sound at this point!
What a hell of a year this band had.
2024 has changed the world again but if it keeps producing like this. It will be a better place.
everyone talking about II (who is amazing) but III's bass in the verse is incredible as well

Indeed.
You are so right. Brings a Steve Harris (if he was using a pick) for Caught Somewhere in time hahahaha

I know we are supposed to be admiring II for his drumming, but damn the bass levels in this are amazing. Way more clear than the recordings.
This is what he hears, I suppose. He needs to hear bass, maybe low mids guitars, not much more than that.
The bass is lost in the recording. Lars must have been in the mixing room! 😅

Love those Istanbul cymbals. So underrated.
Facts.. that china and those hats sound good af
Unfortunate that they’re so expensive which is what makes them not so popular among most drummers cause they sound insane
